Stayed here for just one night on a trip to see the historic ships in Portsmouth. Jean and John are the perfect hosts, there was another lady too didn't catch her name but she was also very nice and friendly. The room was very clean, quite and the bed was super comfy.
Breakfast was delicious I am very fussy about my eggs which were cooked to perfection and my other half really enjoyed the fresh salmon, lots of good coffee and juice too. All in all a very pleasant experience, recommended. Must give a mention to the resident cats, beautiful girls. 

A weekend visit to Victorious brought us to Cavendish Lodge! As soon as we arrive we were warmly greeted by Jean and John!
The rooms were impeccably decorated and spotless!
The older children were loving there New England Room with the sea side decor!
My parents had the Chateau room which was a really large airy room with a good sized en suite!
The Breakfast was 5* and Jean makes anything you would like which was beautiful both mornings! 
They even got the kids special cereal! 
John and Jean were fabulous with my children and they particularly loved their stay at Cavendish!

The Cavendish lodge is absolutely stunning, beautifully decorated and extremely friendly. 
Cleanliness above and beyond sparkling. 
Breakfast scrumptious with multiple choices. 
The Hosts are so amiable and accommodating that i feel like old friends.
If you visit Portsmouth this is definitely the place to stay. 
Worth every penny and more


Well located in a quiet street and very near shops/seafront/transport etc
Spotlessly clean Room was well designed and themed and had more than a touch of class and luxury. The little extras fresh milk, iced water and fan were much appreciated during this hot weather.
The breakfast was amazing using quality ingredients and cooked to perfection! The best breakfast I have ever had in a B/B or Hotel.
Though the place was amazing it was the hosts Jean and John that made it  extra special!!
Warm,friendly, kind and so accommodating.They are a great team and compliment each other very well to the benefit of every guest that visits.
The only slight niggle we had was that the bathroom extraction unit is noisy and it can be heard when other rooms are using it as well.
Though this did not spoil our trip and we would and will definitely return and recommend it to everyone we know! 

A lovely, spotless property in a great location. Jean cannot do enough to make her guests feel comfortable and well fed. Two gorgeous cats add to the ambience !

This property comes extremely highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic! The hospitality is absolutely great. The Guesthouse lies in a very calm quarter of town, ond short distance of eating and drinking places. Here you feel at home! The breakfast is lovely and good! Jean and John do really a lot to make you feel comfortable. No doubt where to go whenever we're in Portsmouth again.
