The Laurels Reeth

This was our second stay at The Laurels and was every bit as good as our previous stay a year ago. The sign of a really great B & B. See end of my Podcast for photos.

Vicki, our host was amazing from beginning to end. Nothing was too much trouble. She was on the ball with every element of our stay, from the delicious breakfasts to the beautiful rooms which were elegant and beautiful. Not to mention the fantastic views.

We had Yorkshire tea—naturally—plus coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. The bathroom had beautiful Sea Kelp handwash and shower gel. The bed was amazing and so comfortable. I’m hoping she’ll send us the link for the bedding company for that. Made my own at home look like a dog bed (no insult meant to Rhubarb) 

Speaking of rhubarb, we ate home-made rhubarb and home-made bread, made especially for us. I felt so spoilt.

Will we come again? Try and stop us.


We stayed at the Laurels for a few nights and throughly enjoyed our stay. The Laurels is conveniently located for some great walks and local shops are not too far away.

Started the day off with with an excellent breakfast.

Definately worth a visit

The location is stunning - not only in easy walking distance to the great pubs, cafes, shops of Reeth, but also a commanding view out to the Dales. I set my alarm for sunrise both mornings specifically to sit and take in the view - it is something very special. Inside the Laurels it is bright, comfortable and welcoming. Really comfy beds, choice of pillows, lovely smelling bathroom products and what a treat to have real milk for the morning brew, left thoughtfully outside the bedroom door. Breakfast is an extravaganza of tastes, with homemade yoghurt, bread, freshly picked fruit - we didn't choose to have anything cooked, but I can imagine it would be just as delicious and attractively presented. Rhubarb and Gadget are lovely dogs and very well-behaved! But the crowning glory is Vicki - what a complete star! So knowledgeable of the area, genuinely committed and delivering on locally sourced and sustainable products, nothing was any problem whatsoever - and just really good company! The Laurels is very, very special place indeed.

The Cooked breakfast with local ingredients and homemade bread for toast is definitely recommended.

I can’t recommend The Laurels highly enough. It was my second stay.  It provided an excellent 4 night base for the Herriot Way walk for three friends and myself. Very warm greetings from Vicki and Rhubard who made great efforts to ensure we all felt Covid-19 secure. This was really appreciated. Our rooms, at the front of the house, were very clean and comfy and enabled us to have a good rest before the following days walk. The views across the Dales were amazing. Gorgeous lounge and plenty of facilities to dry out gear if needed - fortunately we were blessed with excellent weather so did not need to make use of this. The wall map in the breakfast room was fantastic and each morning before we set off Vicki gave us really good advice about our route.  Not only that, but she was always prepared to help us out with lifts which made logistics much easier. Breakfast was delicious and provided a good start to the day although we also took advantage of packed lunches - hopefully you will be able to sample the rhubard chutney. Can’t wait for a return trip

Highly recommend. Vicki made our stay absolutely wonderful and was a great host.  Log fire a particularly welcome treat on our atmospheric February break! Quality breakfast, and lots of thoughtful touches.

After parking in the spacious private off street car park a warm welcome awaits you the moment you step through the door. Vicki makes you feel at home almost immediately, an introduction to gorgeous friendly Rhubarb the dog and quick tour of the facilities for use on the ground floor, I was shown to my large airy and spotlessly clean comfy room at the front of the house with a nice view of the street and the countryside beyond. Beside all the information available in the room and the hallway Vicki is a mine of knowledge of the Dales and the wall map was fantastic. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful with a wide variety to choose from. Offers of flasks of tea, packed lunches for my day out, laundry services for muddy gear etc  were so unexpected. I spent three nights here and greeted by Rhubarb every time I returned from a day out was a delight.  A big thank you for  the wonderful present and card I found in my room to celebrate my birthday, it was an unexpected surprise from you both. The Laurels is the perfect place to stay in the Dales and Vicki is a brilliant host along with head greeter Rhubarb.  Highly recommended looking forward to returning. What a gem.

Excellent stay with friends this week walking part of the coast to coast. Vicky very helpful and accommodating. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Welcome addition of a guest lounge. Rhubarb the dog is gorgeous. Lovely breakfast to set us up nicely for our walk to Richmond. 

Stayed for two nights last week at the Laurels and would without reservation recommend it . Our room was large ,very clean and well equipped ,the bed was very comfortable . We had a good choice at breakfast . Above all Vicky was very helpful and friendly . Would certainly use again ! 

After a hard day's walk on the moors, I had a wonderful welcome from Vicky, who put my soggy boots and waterproofs in the laundry room to dry, made me a pot of tea and showed me to my airy and comfortable room  with a great view and everything I needed. Vicky is the hostess who's thought of everything (non-allergenic pillows, comfortable but firm mattresses, a generous tea-tray and great toiletries.) After a really good night's sleep, I enjoyed a hearty breakfast including toast from locally-made bread.) There's free parking across the road and if you're short of things to do, Vicky is happy to advise, based on the huge local map covering the dining room wall.
