Where to start?? The location 10/10, the owners 10/10, the accomodation 10/10, the cleanliness 10/10, the comfort of the bed 10/10, the peace and quiet 10/10, the breakfast 10/10, the welcome and the atmosphere 10/10, the views 10/10. In future we will be willing to travel at least an hour further to stay here over anywhere else. All this and for a price so much less than anywhere else too !!

We are a family of four that have stayed in many hotels in a few countries over the years. This is by far one of the warmest, friendliest, and quality stays we have experienced in a long time. The personal touch places it leagues above the rest. 

The room was spacious, remarkably comfortable with a large bathroom: shower and bath. Each bed was laden with cushions and the bedding was clean, fresh and soft. Large extra blanket, electric fan, dryer, microwave, fridge and kettle with biscuits, milk tea and coffee, ensured a comfortable well-equipped stay. There was also a cold drinks fridge at the entrance, where you put your money in a dish, if you want to buy a drink: all the prices for each drink written on a sheet of paper. There is no one there to ensure you paid the correct price - it is an entrustment. This is both indicative and reflective of the nature of the guest house. The views from the room were of the rolling fields around us, and in the evening, the colours of the sunset were impressive. 

Breakfast/dining area was intimate with a wonderful view of the pasture with grazing horses. We are a family of varying dietary requirements: gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and ‘eats anything’. Our hosts Rob and Liz made sure we had all we needed to start the day. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was fresh (eggs freshly laid), and the fruit salad made with freshly cut strawberries, grapes and melon was delicious. The presentation of all our meals each and every morning, was exceptional. 

It is the prefect base to see the many wonderful sites of Bridgend. Most places are a 10-12 minute drive from Ballas Farm, with several beaches in Porthcawl area and  shopping centres. Watching the surfers at Rest bay beach is a must, along with the 1,000 acre Margam Country Park which boasts a ridiculous number of activities and things to see (we were awed by the deer herd).  If you like to walk, there are several public pathways from Ballas Farm where you can trek through the fields, and if you can be at the beach while the sun is setting, it’s glorious.

A lovely family run guest house where all the family are welcoming, friendly and willing to spend time getting to know you as a guest.

What a treasure of a find Ballas Farm was! An exceptionally luxurious comfortable and quiet guesthouse with top notch service. I can't believe the incredibly affordable price for such a lovely place. We stayed in the family room, the bed was so comfortable and I absolutely loved the bath! The place was perfectly situated between Cardiff and Swansea and lovely and near to Porthcawl beach and Southerndown. Rob and Liz were wonderful friendly hosts who gave excellent tips for places of local interest. Julie who did the cleaning was also lovely and friendly and went over and above. 

We visited Rhossili beach in the Gower which was just stunning as well as our favourite places of Southerndown and Cardiff Bay. I can recommend The Rose and Crown pub in nearby Rest Bay for excellent food.  A gorgeous guesthouse, you won't regret staying here. 

Great room, comfortable bed.  Accommodating hosts. Close to the sea and surrounding countryside. A great base for a stay. Huge choice at breakfast, all freshly cooked and tasty.
10 minutes into Porthcawl with its lovely beaches, fish and chips, and Sidoli’s ice cream. Loved it.

Lovely, well cooked breakfast and hosts who couldn't do more to help us- including a great recommendation for dinner AND somewhere for us to stop on our way home the next day.
Will definitely return if we are in the area again, very good location for Porthcawl and surprisingly easy and fast route to the M4 in the morning.


Stayed for 2 nights whilst attending a wedding in the area. Liz and Rob are perfect hosts as is their grandson. Our room was spotlessly cleaned, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast both mornings was delicious. Would highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will visit again.

We stayed two nights as a couple while visiting the Gower Peninsula. Rob and Liz were prefect hosts, great breakfasts and good recommendations for eating out and places to visit. Room was comfortable and slept really well.  There was some motorway noise but it didn’t affect our sleep. The location is slightly out of the way but also very close to the M4 junction. Lovely views looking across the fields in the morning. Thank you.

I stayed again after a long time away from here due to Covid 19. As always it was faultless and is like a home from home. Liz and Rob are such lovely people and the whole place is spotless. The beds (I have stayed in all the rooms) are so comfortable and all the rooms and en suites are decorated to a very high standard. 

Liz’s breakfasts are first class and set you up for the day. I loved being back and the welcome was once again so warm and generous. 

I can not recommend this place enough.

Beautiful locaton, beautiful accomadation!
Robert greeted us with smiles & great suggestions of where to go for tea!
Our room (rm1) was on the ground floor with patio doors to an outdoor seated area which was lovely.
The bed was very comfortable and the shower was exactly as needed after a long day on a bike.
Breakfast was so tasty, Liz can really cook! ( waffles, banana, walnuts & syrup for me, fry for hubby) and the view from the window was stunning!! Horses & windmills, what more could you want!!

Planning on visiting again, as this is a perfect place to base ourselves to explore the whole of Wales.

We stopped here for 6 nights and couldn’t fault this accommodation.it’s  a bit off the beaten track but the accommodation and food makes up for that.
Couldn’t fault the breakfast, Liz definitely knows how to cook. Her husband was a perfect host and made sure you had all you wanted.
The room was spotless and had everything you needed. Porthcawl was just a 8 minute drive to the beaches. We enjoyed Rest bay which also had a lovely board walk.
If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay look no further, you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent place to stop for a holiday.

I was so glad I found this Guest House. Off the beaten track and up a long, farm lane, it was delightful. Modern, up-to-date facilities, spotlessly clean. Excellent cooked breakfast. My room was on the ground floor which had a patio area, a small table and two chairs. It also had overhead lighting, so I could sit outside of an evening, enjoy a glass of wine (there was a fridge situated just outside my room) and read my book. Wonderful! Thanks Liz and hubby for a very enjoyable stay.

A lovely, peaceful place to stay.

Stayed at Ballas farm for a couple of nights in August. Location is a bit out of the way but quiet area and good access to travel and explore.

Rooms are nice clean and airy. 

I think the biggest asset are the owners, they don’t seem to be able to do enough for you. Every request they tried there best to help us with. 

Even the breakfast situation which wasn’t straightforward due to Covid, they still did their best to try and make things as normal as possible.

The breakfast was delicious and once again our requests were no trouble.

Would definitely recommend and we may stay again if our travels take us in that direction.
