The Griffin Inn

This was the perfect stop for us during our first night in Wales. Amazing staff and community.  Wonderful room overlooking the garden. The food and drink was also exceptional.

This was a cozy inn with a fantastic pub and helpful staff!  However, there is nothing for miles around except beautiful nature walks so if you want more, bussing or a car is a must!

A mid point stay for us. Low budget hotel perfect for our needs. Nice food friendly staff and good value.

Had a great night with some great locals in the quiet little pub downstairs , the hotel staff were top notch as well. A must stay if ur in the area!

Very friendly pub, hard working staff. We had a meal in the pub, excellent. The room was amazing, everything we needed.If we are ever in this area again, I will come back.

Great little pub with rooms, all the staff exceptionally friendly. The fish and chips was to die for.

Good location for a stay on the Welsh borders - friendly staff - room clean and well-appointed with good ensuite with nice toiletries and super fluffy towels. Dining in pub restaurant was very good, breakfast buffet very good too with selection of cereals, yoghurts, juices and cold cuts with fresh toast and croissants to the table. Close to River Wye and a village shop is within walking distance, as well as a garage with convenience store. There is a pretty beer garden too.  Only drawback is location on main road means passing lorry noise may concern some - windows not double-glazed.

Very good traditional pub hotel.

Friendly service . Very clean and nicely presented place. Lots to do in the area and staff happy to help with ideas. Nice little touch was a research area with comfortable chairs and leaflets , about the local area, to go through. Beer garden is a great place to relax.  Would definitely be happy to return

It's nice to stay in a pub, you have dinner and a few beers and just have to walk upstairs to bed, no driving necessary.  A lovely historic pub with a pretty and quite large beer garden which is perfect for summer evenings watching the sunset.  It was a bit warm when we visited and a fan had been left in our room which was fantastic.  The room was small but we had expected that so no problem for us.  There are 2 car parks for guests of the hotel.  The included breakfast was good.  We tried the pizza for dinner which was really yummy.  Staff and patrons friendly and helpful.

I was on a walking trip and arrived at the Griffin late on a very hot summer afternoon. The welcome was great and the beer, lovely, though the tables in the beer garden had  not been cleaned for some time.My room faced the street and had been absorbing the sun for the whole of the afternoon and was like a sauna, so I had to fully open the window. By the time I retired to bed it had cooled somewhat and in my exhaustion I did fall quickly to sleep, but with the window still fully open, the morning traffic noise woke me early. Maybe worth requesting a room facing the back of the hotel if these are not more expensive. The room was also quite small. Whilst perfect for me as a solo traveller, had my wife been accompanying me, one of us would have slept against the wall.The food in the evening was very good and well priced. My steak was cooked rare, as requested - not something that happens often. Midweek continental breakfast was simple, but very nice.Despite my comments about the room, overall, it was very good value for money and I would still recommend it.

Impromptu weekend get away, walking in the Brecons. Hotel was extremely easy to find good visitors parking area. Checking in was simple and extremely friendly. Shown to the room and facilities. Booked for a event meal prior. Really good to see a small bar and restaurant buzzing! Great simple food done well!Recommend the Griffin for a weekend break.

Helpful, friendly attentive staff, food first rate,  the only negative,  room allocated to us was above the boiler room & next to the utility room, which for us would have been too hot even in average weather conditions,  the bed was threequarters & against a wall, making it cramoed., other rooms looked better appointed.

We had a comfortable weekend at the Griffin. However the bed was much smaller than we are used to, we had to remake the bed as although the duvet cover looked laundered it was badly stained. On our booking we were told there was daily housekeeping but  nobody did our room on the Saturday so the bed wasn't made, the rubbish wasn't emptied and  the tea making facilities were not topped up. I asked for some milk and they did give me a jug full. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was a bit old fashioned but clean and comfortable, the bathroom was good and modern. Our booking confirmation said bed sheets unavailable so we phoned them and they said of course we supply bed sheets!!

OK for weekend stay

Stayed for a couple of nights while working in the area, the food was great and the room was clean and equiped with everything i needed. The staff were all friendly and always happy to help. The surrounding area was picturesque and this would be a great place to stay for walkers and people explore brecons.
