We frequent the whithart pub as often as possible never had a bad meal ever, this week was no different fabulous food and service as always Would highly recommend the owner and staff will always go the extra mile !!!! Nothing is too much trouble

We visited whilst travelling on the Mon & Brec and called in 40 mins before the kitchen closed. The welcome was warm and inviting, the atmosphere was really good. Food came quickly, freshly cooked and served with a smile. We all agreed that this was a great little pub - a very pleasant stop. Well done guys, and thank you. 

6 of us always goes out for a meal. We always rate between us marks out of 10.
I have to say all 6 of us gave the meals 10 out of 10.
If I had to find fault it was too much for us.

Called in here twice, on our way up the canal and again on our way back, friendly and welcoming had a great evening eating drinking and chatting to the locals all done in line with COVID rules. A lovely real fire in the bar and biscuits for the dog

A friendly Breconshire pub, good simple ‘pub grub’ with well kept real ale and a short list of wines. A friendly welcome with real fires, and well behaved family dogs have also been made most welcome. Brilliant place for lunch or a simple supper - or just a couple of pints! Can be busy in holiday periods. 

A group of ten of us stopped here for the weekend and had a lovely stay. There were also other guests staying too and there was plenty of room to accommodate everyone without feeling crowded. The beds were comfortable and sturdy. The bottom bunks had privacy curtains and their own light and little shelf which was great for holding my mobile phone and a glass of water.The kitchen was well equipped and the dining area was roomy with two large tables. Separate toilets and showers meant there wasn’t any problems with queuing. The adjoining pub had a warm friendly atmosphere and a lovely reasonably priced menu. Just two small suggestions that would have given this an excellent rating. At times the communal area felt a little cool and some comfy settees would have been nice. If we were visiting the area again we would definitely stay here again.

We were on the Brecon & Monmouth canal and stopped off a couple of times for a drink or meal.  The staff were always very friendly and the food, typical pub food, was reasonably priced and very satisfying.   A good jumping off point.

The very strange person that served us was very on edge and was horrified when my 3 year old grandson was touching things due to the pandemic I have never been so insulted and treated with such discrimination in my entire life I hope the place close as they are certainly not equipped to deal with today’s issues

Horrendous

Visiting Talybont for Midnight Marathon. A Table was booked for 8pm for 10 runners, confirmation voicemail kept on phone.
At about 6pm whilst waiting for our runners to come in, the menus were collected and we were told no more food being served.
I went into the bar to speak to Member of staff who we made booking with, only to be told 'they don't take bookings'.
The voicemail was played back but she chose to ignore and we were told that they had run out of food anyway!
With such a large, regular, well promoted, local event do you not think to run out of food is very bad management especially when we had proof that we had in fact booked a table.Perhaps a course in Customer Service might help!!
Thank goodness for the pub next door, (The Star) who also had a very busy day, but were so helpful & considerate to the position we were in.

Disappointing

Pulled up in the car park in our Fiat Ducato campervan just to get our bearings and maybe have a drink. Within 2 mins we were pounced on before even getting out and told in no uncertain terms campervans were too big and we had to leave. Fair enough 200 metre down the road the Usk Inn was very welcoming and got our food and drink business for the evening and free stopover for the night. Skip out the unwelcoming attitude and simply go to the Usk Inn 5 mins walk away....simples!
