Me and wife came for Sunday lunch we both had roast lamb it best lamb I ever had and not over priced  and lot of it and the size of Yorkshire pudding are big and tell it all home made and lovely staff wish we place where live has be going ever week

Visited on two afternoons during a book festival. The food was really amazing on both days. It’s pretty poor that there’s no Welsh language signs or decor and it’s all a bit English, but that aside it was really great.

Couldn’t fault Kilverts - they totally rescued our weekend after being significantly let down by an exceptional poor choice elsewhere, the manageress impressed with her “can do attitude” and nothing was too much trouble, we went from a shambles to an amazing time, they so rescued our weekend and plans. The room was clean and tidy, comfy beds, loved the bath, nicely presented with everything we required. Our dogs were made to feel just as much welcomed as we were, even down to the sausages at breakfast shhh don’t tell Chef !!! 
The food was also amazing, excellent quality and value for money, we enjoyed breakfasts,  dinners, Sunday lunch and bar snacks, the cauliflower cheese was the best I have ever had from a commercial restaurant. 
Managing people’s expectations in this day, is extremely hard but Kilverts this weekend for us couldn’t be faulted, so I would highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Many thanks everyone

We spent our Easter break cycle touring around the Golden Valley, starting and ending at Hereford and we spent one night at Kilverts. Sheila was very friendly and checked us in and indicated somewhere secure that we could store our bikes for the night. The rooms were clean and the showers hot which we needed! The cooked breakfast was filling (thank you Linda!) and Sheila even let us snaffle some Easter eggs for the road. I would stay again when I am next back in Hay-on-Wye.



We went for lunch on a Sunday whilst passing through Hay on Wye.  We had the speciality sausages for lunch.  They were absolutely fab!  Everything came out red hot.  It was delicious and reasonably priced.  Staff all lovely.  We would definitely visit again.

We arrived in Hay On Wye en route to our nearby holiday cottage after a 4 hour journey and in need of refreshment. We tried 3 cafes in town which weren’t dog-friendly (we are from the New Forest and dogs are welcome everywhere!) so ended up here.
Well I’m glad we did, as the young man behind the bar couldn’t have been more welcoming. Thank you for restoring my faith, after having been grumped at in one cafe and told we could sit outside in two others, we were beginning to feel like second-class citizens!

My partner and I dined at the Kilverts hotel yesterday evening, and after having dined here before we were very impressed! The red haired member of staff on the bar was lovely, really kind and made us feel super welcome! The resturant was rather dark but it felt rather cosy

After being seated we read their *new* ala carte menu which had a little message from the new Head Chef, the menus looked really pretty and were set out clearly with a combination of fancy and bold fonts, the prices were very low as well which we found surprising for an 'ala carte' menu.

I ordered the pea and mint risotto and my partner ordered the lamb shanks with a pea and butternut sabzi, we wanted this without the cashews and were told that that was no problem! These dishes came out and looked great there was green oil, herbs on both and a crispy sheet of parmasan on my rissoto; lovely!

After the uplift we had from the mains we decided to sample some of their deserts menu! I had the fig desert, which came with a goats cheese bottom with a dome of chocolote filed with a fig jam, he had a mango cheesecake which was served on the side with salsa and these green balls the chef later told us were lime pearls! Both looked exquisite and were layed with edible flowers and looked like they came out of a fancy resturant! Both tasted amazing!

Later on when it was quieter the green haired chef came out to ask people how their meal was and was telling us about how he was working at a posh hotel in cheshire previously! 

Thank you all for such a lovely evening we will be sure to come back next time we are in the area!

We both ordered the beer battered cod and chips.  It not not disappoint.  Large pieces of cod with light crispy beer batter, mushy peas and tartare sauce.  Washed down with a well kept pint of Butty Bach for my husband and a nice Sauvignon blanc for me.

Recently visited this wonder little gem! I am very pleased… all the staff were amazing. I stayed here for one night with my wife prior to staying at another hotel for an event. Food was delicious, j am pleased

Hidden Gem in the center of Hay

We stopped at the pub on recommendation and we weren't disappointed. 
A new chef had very recently taken over the kitchen so there was a limited menu as they were swapping from old to new menus, but what was available was delicious.
Whilst at times the waitress service seemed a little distant, this was far outweighed by the quality of the food we were given.
Not only was the food beautifully presented, there were decent sized portions, and all the party cleared their plates.
The prawn starter comes highly recommended.
The burgers whilst well stacked were of a good quality and not overly greasy and blended well with the lightness of their accompaniment. 
We will definitely return.

Nice old hotel in the town centre. Friendly staff. Had lunch of very nice leek & potato soup...no bread offered, and the spoon provided was not much more than a teaspoon, making the eating experience difficult. But the roast beef dinner was very nice indeed.
