Good
140 reviewsMy partner and I were slightly worried about staying at the Dukeries after reading some of the reviews on this site but we've been here one night of a two night stay and can honestly say I have no idea what people are talking about. The reception rooms at the front are clean - if a little dated. But the sofas are comfy and we checked in with no issues at all. Our room is clean and bright with fresh bedding and towels, complimentary toiletries, a tv, hairdryer and an extremely comfortable double bed. We had the window open during the night to keep the room cool and we weren't disturbed by any noise. On arrival I asked at reception if we could have two extra pillows (only one each is provided) and some milk for the tea and coffee making facilities. Both were provided with no issues. Although I understand breakfast has needed to be cancelled recently due to lack of staff, that wasn't the case this morning. A lovely hot breakfast was provided although I would reccomend keeping an eye on supply levels - most of the cereal boxes, juice and butter were empty, or close to being so. That all being said there are a few things that could do with addressing. Only one of our bedside lights worked, the toliet is in very close proximity to the shower, the shower door is tricky to close and the shelf in there is useless. The towel rail was definitely not made with short people in mind! The lift is also out of order, this doesn't affect us as we're on the ground floor but should be considered by people booking with mobility issues if thet are not as lucky as us! Over all we are thoroughly enjoying our stay at The Dukeries and would definitely recommend it to others. Great value for money, great location, clean and comfortable.
