Our cat has just eaten the fish skin and licked my plate dishwasher-clean, but, having tried to re-create The Longboat's Grilled Hake and steamed vegetables, I was a long way short! Never have I tasted such a succulent piece of hake as I enjoyed when dining with you guys on the Sunday after Montol. I wasn't sure that the plate was going to work, as the potatoes, carrots, and broccoli threatened to be 'hospital food' - but whoever was responsible for delivering this knew exactly what they were doing: al dente veg, unctuous herd butter that brought the dish together, and the freshest, thickest hake fillet I've ever tasted. We had treated ourselves to a stay at The Old Coastguard, and enjoyed some super dishes there (including fish for breakfast), and had a super fish and chip takeaway supper the previous night, but my most memorable meal was this one. Please make sure this is relayed to whoever rustled it up! Hope to see you again om our next visit.
