Brecon Lodge B&B, CARDIFF.

We have been here four times now, and once again we were very pleased that the owner’s have kept the high standards the cleanliness and the breakfast and hospitality cannot be beaten. We will definitely be going again the next time we’re in the area. Tony Read.

Bronwyn and Steve are welcoming and gracious hosts. Their B&B is surrounded by gardens in the Welsh countryside with spectacular vistas stretching to the Brecon Hills. The Lodge is impeccably clean with attractive bedrooms equipped with all the necessities including coffee, tea and chocolate. Breakfasts are generous and delicious with  both cold and hot fare and packed lunches are optional. They also provided much appreciated advice and commentary on where and when to hike, what to see and good recos on where to eat. The newly added lounge area has a cosy gas fireplace with lovely views of the hills. I would highly recommend The Lodge and hope to return someday in near future.

Just back from staying at Brecon Lodge.Lovely and friendly hosts and room great. Very close to the pier and beach and to Penarth town. Very quiet area. Breakfast fab and very tasty! Thanks to Gaynor and Anthony for the welcome - we would stay again x

My sister and I booked a twin room at the Brecon Lodge.  It was in a nice area of Penarth with room to park in the street.  The room was delightful and spacious, on the ground floor and beautifully furnished.  As well as the beds there was a wardrobe, a small table with two chairs and also a sofa and a tv.  The window afforded a view of the sea. There were tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits, fresh fruit and water.  We were made so welcome on arrival, having had a difficult day, we felt we'd come 'home'.  The private bathroom was upstairs which didn't cause us any problems.  The beds were very comfortable and everywhere was spotlessly clean.  They have a lovely dining room where we were served a delicious breakfast.  The hosts were very friendly and helpful and gave us some useful information regarding nearby restaurants.  We've stayed at several hotels in the past in Penarth and Cardiff (we come to visit family), but will only be staying at the Brecon Lodge from now on! Thank you both!

Booked a twin room - stayed on the second floor, perfectly comfortable room and well equipped. Quiet and peaceful area with roadside parking. Had to park about 50 yards away but no issue. Very hospitable hosts and great breakfast! Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Comfortable Stay

Penarth is a great town and surprisingly has very few decent places to stay-we often stay with friends if in the area and had to book into this B & B on this occasion. I guess the other reviews are fair and I don't like to be mean but for almost £100 per night I think this B & B does need to come up to date. It is like staying with relatives-the room at the top of the house is fine with a large bathroom but everything is so dated and there were cleaning materials left in the bathroom and clutter on the landings. The owners are very nice and the breakfast fine but we wouldn't go back as it's just not value for money I'm afraid.

Back in time

We booked two rooms, one for my husband, I and our 7 month year old baby and one for my parents who would be looking after our baby that evening. I had contacted them twice to confirm our booking and on the way there I called them and was informed that they didn't have our booking and had to find somwhere else! This was on the day that Coldplay were playing hence our booking so finding some where else would have proved very hard. We had also booked first but were told that we could not stay there. 

We insisted on turning up and were told that we would be staying at their friends house and gave us a receipt. Their daughter and family were very friendly and helpful but the house was not a bnb. It was on the goodwill of their friends who we could not fault and they were lovely, hospitable people. However we felt very uncomfortable in someone else's home and felt bad that we had to put them out and the location was not with a sea view or anywhere near restaurants as we had hoped for. 

The owners still charged us full price and did not respond to us when we emailed them to challenge this as it caused a lot of stress with our little baby and was very far removed from the initial booking. 

We would not recommend it!
