The Finchs Arms

A lovely pub with roaring fires and great food. The chips particularly were excellent. Friendly staff. A small selection of board games and a children’s menu. The marmite butter that came with the bread was yummy! Good selection of puddings too.

We stayed for one night and had an evening meal and bed and breakfast. It was a quiet night at the end of October to celebrate my birthday. Not my fault when I was born!! 
Our room (Number 3) was a reasonable size. well maintained, with good bathroom and a balcony directly overlooking , in the middle distance, Rutland Water.
The food was good and all the staff were very friendly, and approachable. Excellent stay. The ambiance was quiet but then it would be given the month and day !! Will definitely go again.

Wonderful one night stay as part of exploring Rutland Water and area over a weekend. Worth staying here for the fabulous food alone (amazing menu and incredibe service). Room was large, clean and comfortable. Lovely peninsula walk (5.5 or 7 mile options) right on the doorstep and a short drive to two nature / bird reserves. Would recommend and we will hopefully be back.

We stayed on after attending a friend’s birthday celebration lunch at The Finch’s Arms. We really enjoyed our stay, the food was delicious, the service was excellent and we had a very comfortable room. Thank you 😊

Great pub and hotel  Lovely staff all very happy and very hard working. Our room was tastefully decorated lovely bathroom with great towels and bath mat. Breakfast was yummy as was our meals in the evening. The roast was very tasty. We will be returning. Thanks everyone for a great few days away

We had a superb few days , the food was exceptional & lots of beautiful scenery to  walk

The Finch team gathered for us a jug of shampoo to utilise their gorgeous big baths but could have been better if they were already their of a bath bomb etc.We have booked again for Valentines weekend because it very clean, great location, food and drink was great and the service was excellent.

Excellent all round!

A gem of a place

Excellent venue - Excellent location - Excellent food - Good service.  Will definitely return and looking forward to it.  Only one criticism concerning a rather rude bar member.  Still I certainly wont let one individuals poorly placed comments and rudeness spoil an otherwise great experience.  I'll simply ask for a less rude bar member next time!

From the moment we arrived on the Friday night for a getaway weekend, we were made to feel welcome. The room was lovely, overlooking Rutland Water, and very clean! We went down to dinner and had the best service, delicious food and friendly staff. The next day, we had the best full English breakfast I have ever eaten, again with friendly service. The restaurant manager had already reserved us a table for the Saturday night, even though it was really busy, so our last minute plans were accommodated well. Another lovely meal! I would certainly return! A special place ❤️

A perfect weekend!

Just had a 2 night stay at the Finch's and it was great. The position was fantastic, the staff especially the restaurant manager unfortunately I didn't get her name, the young waiter Barney and the South African barman were excellent.....I was concerned with the reviews about the manager being rude, he wasn't rude as such but we could've been invisible! Other than that we really enjoyed our stay the food was top class and the room was good and we will definitely be coming back.

Short break

From the moment we stepped into the Finch’s Arms on our preview trip in January 2022, we knew it was the right place for us to hold our wedding celebration in July 2022 and we were not disappointed.  The atmosphere is wonderful, really relaxed created by a very busy close knit team. 
The Rooms are spotless and full of charm, the food outstanding, with views of Rutland water from the garden. 
It’s a  17th century Inn sympathetically restored so expect uneven floors and no air conditioning.
The Restaurant gets very busy even mid week in January, with locals, walkers and visitors so book to avoid disappointment.  If you are looking to hold an event or celebration Andrew, the events Manager, will take time to discuss your requirements and help you with any changes in these uncertain times.
If you are looking for a relaxed meal with family or friends, with lovely log fires in the winter and a wonderful garden setting In the summer then this is the place.

Wedding weekend

Staff were excellent - room was really nice. Food was fantastic. View was amazing.Would definitely go here again and will recommend to friends.Only negatives - the room was very warm - heating perhaps not needed on - we had to leave windows open to try and cool down and the wife's usual gripe with a number of hotels - that there was no chair to do her make up at the mirror / dressing table and the location of the power points for the hair dryer - was behind the unit so had to move the furniture. All in all - a lovely stay

Night away

Really lovely short break in a delightful spot - all the staff are brilliant and very helpful.  it was all Covid safe and this was our first trip anywhere in months so it was nice to feel very well looked after.  Great garden and restaurant lovely - would advise booking as it gets very busy! The peninsula walk is a good thing to walk off some of the wonderful food.

Comfortable hotel, great hosts!

The Finchs Arms is a lovely B&B with a superb gastric pub attached. The food is very good. Rutland Water, with numerous activities including a water park is nearby as ate numerous cycling paths. The B&B has a fantastic view of Rutland Water but is in a mobile phone dead zone which shouldn’t be a major issue except the the night we were there, their internet went down completely for the duration of our stay. It made it difficult to stay in touch with friends and family, but that should not be a permanent issue.

Enjoy the view

This was my second stay at the Finch's Arms because it's a perfect Autumn getaway if you're looking for a bit of peace & quiet and good food. The service is exceptional, the food is also amazing so frankly we never felt the urge to leave, could just sit in the bar area by the fire, play games and read. When we did venture our, the many activity centres of Rutland Water were only a ten minute drive away. I would definitely recommend a stay here.
