The Old Barn

HS2 has done for the Old Barn. Chain link fencing and automated security system. Really fallen over counsellor you are poor and now making me write a short dissertation outlining your shortcomings. Not even a chat bot in sight.

myself and two friends stayed here for three nights when we went to the Classic Car Show in the NEC in november. OK it could do with a bit of an update - but if HS2 goes ahead the government are going to compulsorily purchase it and knock it down ! Would you spend your money if you owned it ? No - neither would I. 
On the plus side - free parking, brilliant breakfast, wonderful reception lady, you can come and go as you please, watch tv together in their lounge, and reasonable price - almost £150 cheaper than the travelodge we've used previously.
you get what you pay for - we hope it's still going next year - we'll be back again.

Stayed here for 1 night with my husband and another couple . We were going to a concert at resorts world . We had looked at other hotels near to the arena but they were all about £200 for 1 night !! Crazy . So we looked further out and found the old barn . We booked it then looked at the reviews and immediately looked for something else . But couldn’t find anything reasonably priced . So we thought just go with it . We paid £65 per room with breakfast !!!! .when we arrived I was apprehensive. And yes the carpet in the hall was threadbare. The lady was lovely on reception and we were shown to our rooms . I was pleasantly surprised . The bathroom was clean the bedroom was clean the bedding and towels were immaculate.comfy bed and tea and coffee In your room !!! . Had a good nights sleep very peaceful .  The breakfast is ok . You get what You are given . Sausage was cold but otherwise ok . Yes the place needs a face lift but it is not as bad as the reviews say . It’s £10 in a taxi to the arena and I will definitely book this again if we come to another concert . It’s not the ritz it’s somewhere cheap and clean to get your head down . If u want the ritz pay £200 at the genting hotel .

Reviews too harsh 

Sadly, no longer there

The old barn needs to have the whole place decorated and new carpets ( as stuck in the 1980's). New beds and bedroom furniture.The place was clean and is in a good location.On whole the place tends to have work men stay .The staff are very friendly If the place was done up the guest house would get a better reviews. A nice cooked breakfast

The place does need some money spending on it

Unfortunately , as much as the staff were friendly on arrival & at breakfast £65 for this place is just to much , paper thin walls & shabby carpets & decor let it down badly , would imagine it gets busy for the nec & resort world , just a lick of paint & new carpets would transform the place , sorry but better value for money elsewhere & my iPad is bigger than the telly in the room , pointless having one at all really 
I don’t like to moan & put business,s down it’s a very tough school , but lots of choice out & about , so it needs to be better in my opinion

This is a difficult review to write. The old barn itself is an old barn conversion, it’s old, decor and furniture is dated and in need of a total refurb, but Apparently it’s to be demolished because of the high speed train program so I can totally understand the owners not wanting to spend any money on the place. Lisa on reception is very friendly and helpful. Rooms definitely dated and a bit taty but bedding was clean. Reception area filled with linden and laundry bags I’m sure they could be stored elsewhere as they are offputting. If you know what your going to for the price it’s ok. No choice of breakfast it was just cooked and handed to you so if you have allergies not great as no questions were asked.

Difficult

Like stayintg at the Bates Motel! Decor had gone to pot, the carpet / flooring had seen many a tale, the bedding was clean however the pillow had seen better days, the bed, I have thrown better ones away! The bathroom was a shade dodgy to say the least. However on the bright side the lovely receptionist could have been nicer, the breakfast was pleasent if basic and I did sleep ok on the first night. I have slept in worse places but not many!! I could dine out on the story for a good few months!

Very Dated

Location is good for the NEC, though tricky to find without Satnav.. Parking good. ( Single ) Room small, drab & dated. Bed old and uncomfortable. - could feel the mattress springs. TV remote did not work. Shower door broken. Dado rail in room broken. Heating in bedroom could not be adjusted without moving chair and bed, Extractor fan in bathroom had no cord, and switch was too high to reach - used toilet brush to switch on/off. Room not serviced during my 2-night stay. Breakfast OK but lukewarm, and main course served immediately - no chance for juice or  cereal  beforehand. Manager - pleasant in manner and apologetic re shortcomings, though none put right - left 7-8.00 pm for evening, so no later arrival is possible

For one-night-only it's just about OK. No better.

Just stayed over for one night. Very basic needs an upgrade, decorating, new bathrooms etc. Breakfast nice just your average one. Three of use stayed in a family room, lovely and warm tea coffee supplied, beds soft(personal choice).

Stop over B&B

Torn carpet to greet you and then it got worse!!
No staff present to talk to!
Bed linen stained with blood and looked like urine, cobwebs everywhere, damp on ceiling, bath water ran brown! Mattress springs showing through, carpets filthy and damp carpet in bathroom, broken tv controls,
Would of left straight away but arrived late so nowhere to go.
Breakfast with random cups and mugs, UHT milk for cereals and coffee. Dried up sausage which was probably heated up from day before! 
Please do not waste your money!
Should be a little goldmine being so close to NEC and airport etc
