Myself and two friends plus a child booked in here for Sunday lunch. 

It was popular so really glad we booked. The person serving us was super friendly and very efficient. 

The food was delicious and they were big portions. I had the roast Turkey and this was succulent and tasty. My friends had the beef and they said this was lovely too.

The price for three courses was excellent and really excellent value.

Highly recommended!

Brilliant historic pub and restaurant with good choice of food and drink. Plenty of parking and outside space. Great staff. This is a place you will want to return to time again with family and friends nice function room ideal for celebrations

I picked up a pre ordered takeway yesterday as the family wanted something special as it was Easter Sunday .I pre-ordered earlier this week 4 two course meals .V easy to ring through . Social distancing measures we all in place at the pick up which was a v straight forward process .
The staff were prompt and polite.
The food was really well packed and our four turkey roasts were v easy to reheat and v tasty with ample portions .My two girls had tasty deserts and my husband and I had yummy mushrooms to start .
I will definitely use them again .

We visited the Rock and Fountain tonight to celebrate a family birthday. We received fantastic service from start to finish, all staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was great. There were 11 of us and we were all really happy with our meals, impressive steak and mixed grill, lamb shank was to die for and the duo of fish melted in your mouth. Couldn't fault a thing. Credit to all staff and chefs. Highly recommended.

We booked our Xmas day lunch here a few months ago and it was well worth it. The food was supurb and well prepared. The beef Wellington was full of flavour along with the vegetables. Desert was generous followed by coffee. The service as always was friendly and we were made to feel at home. We come here very often and this is the first time we had our Xmas lunch here. We didn't waste any time and booked for next year before we left. 

My wife and I called here as we were passing at 6pm on a Saturday evening on the way back from the cricket in Cardiff. They found us a table even though we hadn't booked.
We both chose from the two course for £12 menu. I think this represents excellent value for money. To start I had Grilled goats cheese with chutney on a toasted muffin with pesto dressed salad, which was very good. My wife had really tasty bacon. leek and potato soup. 
For main I had pork loin steaks with onion chutney and melted brie, which I really enjoyed and my wife had a duo of grilled salmon and sea bass with tartare sauce, which was another hit. 
All in all the food, service, value and  atmosphere were spot on, and we were glad we chose the pub.  There is nothing negative to say abut the place at all.

Four of us visited Tuesday 23rd April (day after Easter Monday) so naturally a little quiet.

Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We all had garlic mushrooms to start, then three of us had the duo of fish and one had the lamb roast. All the food was cooked perfect.

We will eat there again.

I decided to take my wife to the Rock and Fountain for her birthday meal.We had been before and enjoyed  and this time was just as good.We shared our starters as usual which were great and the steaks for the main course were tasty and perfectly cooked.The wine was also very good value and the service was good.Well worth a visit.

Was a great night once we asked for our initial rude waitress to be replaced - glad we stuck it out as we were ready to leave after half an hour. Replacement was brilliant as was the food - need to boon as it’s a pretty popular place

Visited a few times over the years and have had great food and great value for money but today was the first Sunday lunch. It's a shame there is  no seating area while we waited for our table. We managed to find a seat tucked away by the cutlery otherwise my 88 year old Mother-in-law would have had to stand for around 15minutes.
The starters chosen by my husband, mother in law and myself were prawn cocktail and the pate. The prawn cocktail was served in a fancy stemmed container which looked impressive but didn't hold very much. There was no bread with the prawn cocktail unless we wished to pay extra. My pate was delicious but with only two tiny circles of dry bread. 
I have a passion for trout and was delighted to discover it was on the menu. I decided to break with tradition and chose the fish. It had been cooked nicely but was disappointed to learn that there were no buttery boiled potatoes to accompany my fish. The choice was roast or jacket, both a little heavy I thought. My Mother in law chose the lamb. She didn't need to cut the meat as it just fell apart,delicious..however, the vegetables  arrived in a small cereal sized bowl which was supposed to be for the three of us. My Mother-in-law said that she wouldn't have any as she didn't feel like broccoli which I'm sure was a kind gesture as she didn't want anyone else to go without. The raspberry roulade was delicious and my husband chose the chocolate brownie with icecream also very nice but was informed that there would be a charge of he wanted more than one scoop of ice cream.
