Heathcote House

Teresa couldn’t be more friendly and welcoming. A lovely bath en suite room, fresh and plentiful breakfast served in the lovely lounge and a host who couldn’t do more for her guests. Look forward to coming back!

This is the second time we have stayed here and I would recommend it to anyone.
We were so well looked after, the room was excellent and the food superb.
Sue is an excellent host and the home baked cake just topped off our stay. Thank you very much.

We only stayed one night here and we  wished it had been longer. Sue was an amazing host, so hospitable and friendly and was so welcoming and made us feel very relaxed. She made us tea and scones on arrival and offered booked us a table at the pub across the road for dinner. We resisted the scones as it was so close to dinner so she very kindly left them in our room. The pub carvery was very good and we came back to enjoy scones, jam and cream and delicious homemade apple cake for desert.  The room was very clean and tastefully decorated overlooking a beautiful garden and lovely and warm on such a rainy day. There were a lot of small touches which added to the pleasure of staying there. Breakfast was also excellent, lots of choice, cooked to order and followed by fresh fruit and creamy yogurt. Unfortunately we had an early start but managed to have a quick look around the beautiful garden which is full of character. Sue was an exceptional host and made our stay a real pleasure. She was really interesting and easy to chat to and we look forward to a return visit.

What can I say!
Sue was her usual fantastic self, tea and scones with jam & clotted cream when we arrived.
We sat out in the garden relaxing under a brolly in the sunshine. The garden was in full bloom and smelt heavenly.
We had been put into the same room we had last time, lovely and clean
Sue gave us cake to take away when we left for our onward journey to Southampton the following morning , this had followed a wonderful breakfast
Nothing is too much trouble, wonderful host

My husband and I arrived at Heathcote House around 4:00 pm and Sue was there to meet us at the door. She immediately made us tea with scones, clotted cream and jam. We were pretty full but she also insisted we take two pieces of warm chocolate brownie to our room (it went down a treat with a glass of red wine later!). We had rented the Garden room and it was lovely, bright and very clean. The garden was beautiful and in full bloom complete with a nice sitting area. Nothing was too much trouble for Sue and breakfast was made to order every morning. I loved her black lab who would bark when he saw you and wag his tail at the same time. We booked Heathcote House because of all the brilliant reviews and we were not disappointed.

Is this place too good to be true?  I don’t think so!  You might think reading all of the ‘Excellent’ reviews for Heathcote House that no B&B could possibly be that good but it is!.  I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Heathcote House and there is no doubt that it fully deserves the great reviews it receives.  Lovely rooms, a beautiful garden with a relaxing patio area, fantastic breakfast made using locally sourced products all go towards making your stay a good one but is is your host Sue who makes a good stay a great one! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and she could not do enough for us during our stay.  We were treated as friends not just as guests and this made our time at Heathcote special. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the Dorchester area then make sure you choose this place - you will not be disappointed.

Good clean spacious accommodation. Good continental breakfast. 
Pub opposite with good food and great beer. 
Easy parking.
Used this for visiting Sculptures by the Lakes and found it to be convenient. 
Smart TV ok working on the iPlayer/it hub but no 'live' tv ( that I could find)

Stayed here for one night over half term 
Prior to booking  as usual looked up  reviews  on trip advisor —— photographs and comments shown on  this site such as breakfast room and breakfast offered ( shown in pics )  are not applicable as
there is a new owner , disappointing   Not as expected 
 
Clean room large private bathroom  no chairs only an ottoman placed under a window so difficult to sit comfortably as you can’t lean back, no tea/coffee facilities in room. Broken socket by window Unable to turn plug socket switch to off  when used to charge phone   I feel that hand gel  which during stay  was not highlighted and only saw it by chance on a window ledge could have been better placed on table in hall leading to the breakfast room  with a sign saying please use before entering. As many of items are in shared use jars including 3 jams  but unable to read  smudged   labels so no idea of what they were ,  glasses supplied but no juice ( maybe an over site)
