Bedroom was decorated beautifully.  Bed very comfy. Lovely bathroom  - bit cool. Hot water for shower. Had dinner and lunch there which was delicious

Great bed. Well decorated bedroom.  Bathroom good - a little chilly. Hot shower over bath. Could do with a grab rail on wall over bath to hold on to as you get in and out of the bath

We just stopped here for the night and got a pleasant surprise. Wonderful friendly staff, a good meal in the large gardens, a comfortable room. There was a bit of traffic noise so not ideal for a quiet getaway, but it was perfect for our needs as a stopping place to break up a long journey.

 We had invited our friends to join us for a lunch time meal to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.
 The staff were very nice and helpful, drinks were ordered then our meal order was taken.
 As it was on a Monday it was relatively quiet with a few other groups eating , therefore making the meal a pleasant experience.
 The main meal we had was superb ,hot, tasty which made it very good and enjoyable.
 As for a pudding well what can I say, they were just as good as the main meal, the price of the meal was  comparable to any good quality high street restaurant .
 Would certainly return for another meal with the factor of a pleasant environment and staff being helpful.
 

A 90th Birthday meal celebration for 9 people. Dan and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. I set up balloons and napkins before everyone arrived. Everyone enjoyed their meals and I would highly recommend The Pelican. We will be returning.

Looked like a normal pub until we walked in, then it was stunning a beautiful building both in the bar and upstairs, the staff are really helpful and polite and the meals are amazing. The room is really clean and fresh, will happily come back 

Excellent value great management brilliant Guinness    Scarlet and Emily were excellent hosts and nothing seemed to much trouble for them I would highly recommend a visit. I'm hoping to get back there at the end of the month. Thank you guys !

I went to the pelican and the food was lovely the roast dinner was great and the brownie was the best ! The staff are lovely and welcoming especially Jessie she was so lovely and cared for us throughout the time we was there , she made us feel really welcome and she is really funny and made us all chuckle ! 

Wow! Delighted with our lunch.  The food was fantastic (I chose Seabass with chorizo) as was the service.

The decor for Christmas was charming and we had a lovely family get together.

Highly recommend and we look forward to returning for a Sunday lunch.

Anniversary meal @The Pelican,Froxfield 

The room had a recent make over - Pros: Feature wall headboard, bedside lighting, bed, duvet, towels, toilet paper, secondry double glasing. Cons: Floor coverings, Lampshade missing from centre room light, Showerhead not fitting holder properly, bathroom mirror falls off wall if touched. Room for improvement!

Popped in for a late lunch as we were driving past. We ordered coffees which were not very hot. We then chose the steak, onion relish & cheese ciabatta with chips & coleslaw. The waitress was friendly & attentive but overall the service was a little slow  Once the food arrived the chips were cold and the ciabatta was tough on the bottom but it was nicely presented. We didn’t bother to inform the waitress as by this time we were then pushed for time to get to our destination.

Wonderful

We were running a ghost hunt 5 minutes up the road and this place was spot on. 
The pub is beautiful oldy worldy and hold so much character. 
The room we stayed in was basic but clean, and for what we paid was above and beyond! 
Our friend who also stayed, had a starer of nachos and is was more like a meal! I don't think you could eat a meal after that starter. 
Well done to you all. Hospitality has had a time of late and wet should all be doing our bit too support. 
Will definitely be back.

Spot on for what we needed.

Two amazing soft and flavourful ciabatta sandwiches and one smallish but perfect, rich and tasty lasagne were accompanied by what my son described as the crispiest fish and chips (he was correct, it was 5*) all placed on the table within 15 min of ordering. Friendly attentive service, though not busy while we were there for a Saturday lunch. We left feeling full and happy. The decor is a little confused between classic country pub and cocktail bar in places, such as the bright blue velvet benches and an unnecessary amount of fake plastic greenery adorning the walls.  However you won't notice this in all seating areas, and as the food and drinks were so well done, well priced, and service bang on, it's definitely a welcoming family friendly stop I'll be making again!

Excellent sandwiches, gorgeous fish and chips

Just read loads of crappy reviews left by the keyboard warriors. Funny you realise the pub receives 10's of thousands of visitors per year, yet just a few have to raise these outrageous stories of woe! Kind of proves the point really. This place is exactly what it says on the tin. A traditional pub with food and rooms. Pricing is spot on the value proposition and the staff, when treated as human beings are simply lovely. Those who found them otherwise need to look in the mirror. Yes it is on the A4. That is the point of its original construction, yes it is not the Ritz, but neither does it have the intention or pretension so to be. So if you want a comfy room for the night a cracking breakfast and some great drinks and daytime food, look no further. Well Done team, you should reply to some of these reviews, it helps with the issues these idiots cause the whole industry.

Objective View

Friendly staff, good variety of drinks in the pub, lovely beer garden for a nightcap. Room was great but clearly part way through a renovation. The room was obviously recently decorated but the bathroom was much older, although all clean and working. Didn’t stay for breakfast as we had to be away before 9am. Free parking on site about 10m from the stairs to the room.

The Pelican is a good, comfortable Inn. We stayed for three nights in September. The rooms were very clean and in good condition and there were no problems with me bringing the dog who was also welcome in the bar area.The food was good pub fare, the steaks look wonderful, and we ate here very night. A cooked breakfast was not on offer but cereals, tea, coffee and porridge were provided. The staff were very helpful and pleasant at all times. I would certainly stay again.

The Pelican had only just re-opened under new management and Covid. It was clean and tidy, efforts were made to follow social distancing. There are plans to further invest in modernising the property but as we were the first guests after re-opening we were glad to be able to get away from home. The staff were all approachable and willing to share the local knowledge, food was good both at breakfast and the evening meals. Our room was comfortable and the weather for a change hot and sunny!
