The East End Arms

Had a fabulous Lunch last week. Excellent choices on the menu and our food was Ace!  The service was really good, unhurried but efficient and our waiter Ed was lovely! 
We wholeheartedly recommend this beautifully situated restaurant and will have no hesitation in coming back!

We were staying nearby for a few days and popped into the East End Arms without booking. The weather was glorious so we grabbed a table in the garden and the tables quickly filled up so we were lucky.  The lady took our order at the table. We shared a starter of crispy chilli beef on noodles then we both had the burger; both dishes were excellent and the home-made relish for the burger was fab.  We would recommend eating here or just stopping for a drink.

Lunch with an old friend. I’ve been here many times but this was one of the best. We only had starters (2) and shared a pud but it was perfect. Amazing scallops, divine cheese soufflé. It was fairly empty but that didn’t matter. It’s fascinating to see the black and white photos of so many stars from the 60s and 70s. The playlist is awesome too.  The lovely Tiger was the icing on the cake. First class

Many months ago our Australian friends decided to pay us a visit, my wife and I thought we would like to take them to the East End Arms in Lymington simply because it is owned by the base guitarist from Dire Straits, John illsley  and we have both been life long fans. Two or three weeks before we were due to go I had a quick look at Trip advisor just to be sure nothing had changed, and to my surprise the write ups were clearly showing something was wrong. I almost cancelled our booking immediately. After giving it a little thought I decided to call the East  End Arms and ask what the problems were as up until that point the reviews had been outstanding. I had a quick conversation with a staff member , Lilly , who was so friendly and helpful that we decided to ignore what we had read and continue with our trip. A few hours later I received a telephone call from the manager of the East End Arms, Lian who was very helpful , she assured me that all would be fine , they had a really good chef appointed and they would take good care of us . Well she was true to her word, we arrived to a busy bar full of locals having a pint on the way home from work, what a wonderful warm atmosphere, they were all so welcoming. We were shown to our rooms which were fresh clean and well presented. We rested briefly and then went back down to the restaurant for dinner. Bearing in mind that this is predominantly a local country pub , the food on offer Is simply outstanding , big flavours well balanced and served professionally by friendly helpful staff,nothing is too much trouble. We are so pleased that we accepted  the reassurance given by Lian, this was such a wonderful experience that would have been a shame to have missed. On our second night we had booked a table in the restaurant as it was my wife’s birthday , again they were so accommodating, arranging for red roses to be delivered to our table along with champagne and a special birthday sweet presentation,my wife was so happy and our Australian guests were also very impressed with professional but friendly service. Unbelievably just as we were finishing our meal the door opened and the great man himself , John Illsley and his lovely wife came in , my turn to be overwhelmed , he was so kind and friendly, we shook hands and he agreed to photographs, what a memorable evening. Bearing in mind that this is a country pub , it has a wonderful restaurant , and just for good measure a very comfortable set of roomsto relax after an exceptionally pampered evening. You really should try it , but don’t tell anyone, let it be our secret.

Booked into The Eastend Arms for a couple of nights.  Lovely pub, very comfortable rooms.  Restaurant meals were great - as was the service.  Warm & welcoming.  The restaurant has just changed to winter hours so no meals in the evening on a Monday & Tuesday.  Good breakfast included.

My wife and I stayed for one night very recently at the East End Arms, and it's a fabulous little place.
The bar is quite small and can only be described as rustic but it has a very welcoming, friendly and warm feeling about it.  The staff snd the regulars are very welcoming and we enjoyed our evening exchanging banter with everyone in the bar.  
Prices are very reasonable with a good selection of beers on tap.
The room we stayed in was just wonderful, everything was just about perfect and to even try to find anything to criticise would just be churlish, not that I think I could.
It feels quite modern without losing the country pub vibe.  The carpets are soft and thick, the room is spacious and finished to a high standard and the bed was just gorgeous - huge and very, very comfortable with luxurious pillows to sink in to.  Needless to say, we both slept very well.
The bathroom was equally impressive with some nice touches and the shower was just amazing.
Being in the country it was lovely and quiet at night, even with the windows open and it was so nice just to experience the peace of the place.
Unfortunately, during our stay the pub was between chefs so we couldn't book a table for dinner.  However, we were advised of this at the time of booking so it didn't come as an unexpected surprise and we were able to take a short drive into Lymington for dinner.
Breakfast the next morning was cooked to perfection, though!
Overall, we really enjoyed the East End Arms and I really hope we will be able to return again in the future.

I live in the area and go semi often. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. Last time I went I had the black bream that was delicious. I would definitely recommend going here if you are in the area.

Fantastic food no matter what dish you choose. Every element on the dishes are so tasty. From amazing thin fries and the best thick cut chips ever to deep flavoured complex jus, stunning seafood and delicious roast dinners not to mention some of the most interesting and tasty accompaniments.

Eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. Throughout the summer partaking in many wonderful starters and main courses. 

It’s just such a shame that we have only recently tried their desserts as being too full on most occasions. They are currently offering a very reasonably priced set menu (not Sundays) so we decided to have a main and dessert combo and now we regret not having made room on our other visits. Delicious!

We stayed here for one night prior to getting the ferry to the Isle of Wight from Lymington. This is an excellent location, just a few minutes drive from the ferry terminal.
The pub itself is set in a country location with dedicated parking for guests which is very handy as parking is limited nearby. The pub has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and the staff were all happy, polite and engaging.
The room was a deluxe double, plenty of space and a lovely king size bed. The room was very clean and well decorated.
Unfortunately we couldn't eat in the pub on the night of our arrival as they don't cook on a Monday and Tuesday which was disappointing but understandable.
In the morning breakfast was severed with a very good choice of healthy and not so healthy options, I of course went for the super healthy fully english! My wife had scrambled egg and salmon. Both breakfasts were excellent and the food was of great quality.
Overall a very good place to stay and good value for money.
My only disappointment was not meeting the owner John, who I'd recently seen performing in Norfolk when he mentioned a pub he owned in the New Forest but we made this booking without realising it was his until we read the newspaper cuttings in the bar!!

Had lunch with my wife here yesterday (first visit) and couldn't fault it. I had the brill with mussels, prawns and lobster sauce and my wife had bouillabaise.  Both dishes well presented, great tasting, and the service was excellent.  We'll definitely be back.

Lovely overnight stay in the New Forest

Had booked a table for dinner for two. Arrived early so we had drinks in the down to earth small public bar. Nice to see a proper pub being enjoyed by locals , passing cyclists enjoying a pint outside in the sunshine, and welcoming of tourists ( us ). Very good Ringwood 49 beer and wine by the glass. Visiting robin that hopped in through the open door way in search of a few crumbs was nice to see too.  Restaurant is smart and we would recommend the burger and the sea bream mains. Desserts were excellent too, and the 3 young ladies who looked after us couldn't have been nicer. Recommended for food and ambience...a fun evening.

Firstly, Thankyou to Jane, Emily,  Heath, Callum, the Chef and everyone else who made our stay so wonderful.
We loved this place enormously and hated to leave on Monday morning after our long weekend. It is warm, friendly and with staff who work tirelessly to look after you. The double room we had, had the most enormous bed in it which was a real treat. The ultimate softness and desperately comfortable. The shower/bath was wonderful, endless supply of hot water. All in all the room was fabulous and housekeeping was seen to daily. 
Breakfast was included being a B&B, choice of cereals, fruit juices, wonderful Greek yoghurt in mini kilner jars. Toast, coffee, tea and of course full English breakfast. We ate in the restaurant two evenings of our weekend, the food was very good.  We had steak and fritte one evening and a starter of hummus and breads (delicious) the next joined with a burger and fish and chips. Perfect! Everyone was fabulous, the staff were chatty and kind. To us, happy people are were their salt.
We loved this place and will go back again not just for Lymington but the happy shiny people that kept us so relaxed.

Golden!

Spent 3 nights - 26th - 29th Sept - great location only 10min drive to IOW quay and busy Lymington. Was slightly disappointed we did not eat on the Monday night ( my wife’s birthday ) due to staff shortages - would have been nice to have been told before hand. Other than that the room ( No1 ) was clean and had all the amenities ( except milk for the coffee and tea ) this room is very warm even with window open - also quite small  - bed linen was top class !  … although found bed a little soft . Breakfast was VG and speedy service and dining area very nice. One thing to remember is this is a rural village community pub - not some bistro pub in Surrey or Berkshire - it is a working ( farming ) community area - so when in Rome … finally was a tad disappointed I didn’t meet the main man owner John IIsley ( dire straights ) — hopefully the next time ?

We stayed recently and we’re very impressed with the friendly staff and the standard of facilities in the comfortable small room. En suite bathroom with a proper bath and detachable shower head rather than an inflexible monsoon type. Great little detail is the automatic little low level light that comes on in the bathroom if you go in at night. Just shows the attention to detail. Unfortunately we were booked to have dinner somewhere else but the breakfast was great.

Comfortable and friendly

We stayed at the East End Arms for two nights which included breakfast. I chose this venue due to the good location and the excellent reviews. What a fantastic place, the rooms were comfortable and quiet. There was a very wide choice of food for  breakfast and we also enjoyed an evening meal which was beautifully cooked. Our hosts and the team of staff made us feel welcome throughout. Thank you for a lovely stay! Mr & Mrs W
