The Foresters Arms

Brilliantly run pub with great food and lovely king sized room.The Landlady couldn't have been more helpful. My wife and I had a wonderful stay and hope to return if we return to this area.

We had a lovely relaxing stay. The food was some of the best we have ever had in a pub, we can really recommend the Pie with the suet pastry my wife had it both nights it was so good. Breakfast was great as well. Thanks for a great stay, we would love to come back.

What a great place to stay, with a very friendly and welcoming landlord and land lady. The food was superb and the portions were quite big, also the real ales were very well kept. We would highly recommended the place for a stay or for food, we will be back

We were made welcome from the time we arrived to when we left. The room was lovely.very spacious and comfortable. Despite the fact that the bedrooms are above the bar and dining room we never heard a thing. It was so quiet. We will certainly stay here again and can recommend the Foresters without hesitation.

Lovely place to stay/ lovely and quiet. Easy check-in. Lovely food and great service. Definitely consider staying here again. Close to lots of areas for lovely walks.

I would highly recommend staying at this wonderful place .We had a lovely 2 night stay, all our needs were met the customer service was above and beyond  . A wonderful couple who have created such a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere ( Paul Diana )and  all the staff .They truly made us feel welcomed. Food was delicious. Room was spotless. Fantastic views . A very relaxing break away . Just like the rest of the reviews I agree a place I would go back to again . Thank you so much for being so accommodating.

Christmas menu for 10 was simply exceptional. The quality of the food, the quantity ( make sure you're hungry!) And the service ...even the Christmas crackers were quality!!!  We had pate....delicious followed by superb turkey roast with all the trimmings...my husband had the salmon which was also delicious. Then yummy cheesecake, mince pies and coffee. ! Thankyou to all the team. 

Great pub, great food.  Best roast ever had in a pub.  Owners and staff friendly and helpful.  Didn't stay there but met people who did and they said rooms were lovely and breakfast was great.  Would highly recommend a visit to this pub it is a hidden gem


We have stayed in many locations over the past few years and this one is simply one of the best. From the minute we arrived we both felt at home and the proprietors and all their staff made us very comfortable in this gem of a community pub. A special mention has to go out to Diana (I’m crap with names so excuse me if this is wrong) who worked tirelessly during our stay and was so full of energy even though she doesn’t appear to sleep. Room comfort,facilities, food and of course location all first class as we experienced a perfect couple of nights. Will definitely be back and if we could we would give this 6⭐️

We ate here twice whilst staying in the village. It’s a fantastic pub. Excellent food, great choice of beers and very friendly staff. Sunday roasts were superb. Mid week food excellent too. Highly recommend this pub. Lovely atmosphere.

Excellent gem of a pub

Lovely welcome from Diana and her staff. Aspall cider on draught, very welcome in this heat. 
A roast chicken dinner and a roast pork dinner, loads of meat, Yorkshire puds and stuffing for both. More vegetables than a Christmas dinner, all presented beautifully and very tasty. And he said the gravy was like a meal on its own!
We will definitely be back. Well done ladies.

Perfect Sunday dinner

A very welcoming stay, cosy pub, quite modern double bedroom, very comfortable, picturesque view. All the staff were great. Breakfast included and delicious.Evening meal in restaurant also excellent,  home made, and all ingredients as local as possible. Definately recommend this, (although quite a drive out if the weather bad)

Quaint and relaxed stay

Arriving at The Foresters you will be met with a warm fire and a warm welcome. Paul and Dianna cannot do enough for all their guests, whether you are just popping in for a pint, dining or staying in the accommodation.Sometimes Dales pubs can be a little tired and scruffy, not this one! The whole place has been refurbished and in such a way that it retains the charm of a village pub. It is also immaculately clean. Rooms are comfortable and contain everything you may need, including a kettle, fridge and hairdryer. The hosts take care over the beer, wines and food they serve and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We were also able to join in with the weekly quiz.Finally, this pub is in a great location to walk Penhill and visit a host of lovely Dales villages in the area.

Fabulous pub and great location

Have visited on several occasions in the past 12 months during which time there have been new tenants.  It has gone from a nice pub with reasonable food to an excellent pub with excellent food.  The hosts are welcoming and the staff friendly.  The portions can be too large for some people but sure they would accommodate if you asked for a smaller portion or wanted to share

A great country pub

This was the first meal out for my wife and I since her accident.  We stopped by today  for lunch with our 2 dogs.

There was a lovely log fire to welcome us on a cold day.  The host was very welcoming and we were shown to a table and provided with the light snacks menu and the Full meals menu.  I had a pot of tea as I was driving but my wife chose the Aspells cider which was very nice she tells me!

We chose from the full menu and my wife had Haddock and Chips which was very well cooked and presented and was very much enjoyed.  The fish was a thick chunk of haddock in crispy batter which was cooked just translucent.  I picked the Steak, Onion and Ale Pie which had a herby suet pastry top.  This came with either chips and peas but I had mine with the mash and seasonal vegetables.

The bill for the two meals and drinks was under £35 pounds which was very reasonable and very good value.

We stayed in Carlton for 4 nights and visited the Foresters Arms twice during our stay. The pub is so cosy, perfect after our days out walking and exploring. We had 2 nights of amazing meals and some drinks here. Great selection of different dishes and ales! We had the homemade beef burger, fish and chips, steak and ale pie and chicken curry during our visits, all were absoutely amazing and full of flavour! We managed to save room for some homemade sticky toffee pudding too! Definitely a must visit if passing Carlton!
