Strange how few people, locals as well as visitors, know about the 1822 Café. Perhaps that is because it is on the University campus and people thinks access is restricted. It is not, and the café welcomes all visitors. 
The atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff vey welcoming and friendly. The prices compare very with other cafes in Lampeter and generally offer lower prices for both drinks and food than most, but the quality is as good as any.
Try it out.

Perhaps biased by having spent around ten years of my life here, got to say that SDUC (St David's University College, now part of Trinity St David's University TSD) is one of the most delightful little places there is. The old library, hall, but especially the chapel are highlights (the latter is certainly one of the top 5 best college chapels in the whole UK) in what is England and Wales' 3rd oldest degree awarding institution. Whether to stay or study, I would thoroughly recommend Lampeter (TSD) to anyone.

I visited again in February 2017, my previous visit being in February 2016 which I reviewed on TripAdvisor in January 2017. I visited again with friends from Ford Gron Llanbedr Pont Steffan / Lampeter Round Table for a breakfast that set us up for a busy day as organisers of the 2017 Gwyl Gwrw Llanbed / Lampeter Beer Festival. The staff were welcoming and efficient and had prepared enough bacon, eggs, sausages, baked beans, toast and tea/coffee to satisfy even the hungriest in our group. It was a delicious and faultless breakfast on the campus of Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant / University of Wales Trinity Saint David and kept me going until late that Saturday evening and my next meal towards the end of the Beer Festival.. Thank you again / diolch yn fawr to the team at the Lloyd Thomas Centre for another warm welcome, excellent service and a delicious breakfast.

Attended Carmarthenshire Feature county RWAS dinner at the Centre on Friday evening 5th May 2017. Food was absolutely stunning. Starter and dessert were table service as was the Coffee and the staff were quick and efficient. The main course was a carvery which was superb. There was an abundance of meat and vegetables and the staff were generous with their portions. Whilst each table fetched their main, a second set of staff cleared the table un-noticed. Extremely professional and well trained under the watchful eyes of Tim. With many farmers attendind the dinner it is usual that they returned for "seconds". This was un-necessary this time as each plate was fully loaded on the first round. The food and service was faultless. Highly recommend the Lloyd Thomas Centre for any large event as it is not easy to cater successfully for such a crowd of people. Well done to all the staff.

I visited on 20th February with friends from Ford Gron Llanbedr Pont Steffan / Lampeter Round Table for a delicious full Welsh breakfast at the Lloyd Thomas Centre. It's located on the campus of Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant / University of Wales Trinity Saint David, the oldest University Institution in Wales. We were warmly welcomed by friendly staff who served us with mouthwatering bacon, sausages, baked beans, eggs, toast and plenty of tea and coffee. It was an excellent start to a busy day for us all as organisers of the annual Lampeter Beer Festival being held that day at the nearby Arts Hall. Over 30 beers, ciders, lagers and ales from across Wales as well as live music and entertainment and a wide range of hot and cold food were on offer during the day, fundraising in support of Cancer Research Wales. Diolch yn fawr / thank you all at the Lloyd Thomas Centre for your welcome, service and of course the excellent breakfast.
