Booked the day before friendly welcome great location the room adequate the hosts very friendly and great breakfast what more can you ask for

Quiet location within a 10 minute walk to the pier. Clean, comfortable rooms with friendly staff and a good breakfast included - Thanks for a lovely stay guys!

What a wonderful warm welcome we received from Dave, Andy and lovely Wendy at the family run Sandhill Guesthouse. Our superior king room with en-suite bath and shower was spotlessly clean with the added advantage of an amazing view of the island. We were given a daily breakfast choice sheet which we completed daily. The full English consisting of sausage - pork or vegetarian, bacon, black pudding, egg - fried or scrambled - beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash brown with toast - white or healthy - Lol, brown! There was also a lovely selection of cereals, yogurts, fruit juices, tea and coffee too. We chose our options the night before and they were cooked freshly the next morning at the time you had chosen to eat. The breakfasts were outstanding!  
There was also a licensed bar to enjoy an evening drink. They also welcomed you to order food in if you didn’t fancy eating out or had had a long day and provided plates and cutlery. Basically, nothing is too much trouble! 
We can honestly say that our week spent here was made more enjoyable by our hosts. 
There is a little sign above the reception desk which reads, ‘Enter as strangers, leave as friends.’ We certainly feel we have! Thank you Wendy, Dave and Andy. We will return x

The bed was very comfy.  The staff were lovely.  Breakfast was good, cereal, cooked breakfast, toast etc., The bar area was very nice with a conservatory.  Very close to bus stops round the corner Melville Road (for 2,3,& 8) Sandown train station & local amenities.

Just back from an amazing 2 night stay at this B&B with my daughter as a birthday getaway for her,  and it was nothing short of amazing. 
The hosts were very welcoming, full of information. 
The rooms were clean, decent size and had everything that was needed. 
Breakfast was beautifully cooked and high standard. Nothing was ever to much trouble.
The location is good very close to the pier, shops, takeaways. 
Free parking on site.
It has its own lounge with telly and puzzles if you didn't want to be sat in your room you could be in there talking to other guests. It has a bar area for again a drink and socialising with others. 
It's a very warm family orientated place and 1 I was glad I stayed at.

We have just returned from yet another stay here, over the August Bank Holiday. From the moment we arrived Andy & Dave were the hosts with the most. Nothing was ever an issue or too much hassle for them. They were chatty (without being pushy or invasive), they had an excellent knowledge of what was on, where and when. They would happily recommend places to see, eat and drink. They would help with directions to bus stops, stations and maps for those driving around the Island. 
All areas/rooms etc in the hotel are clean and they will happily supply extra towels or other items that are needed (or need changing). The hotel has a mix of singles, doubles, twins and family rooms. 
Breakfast is served and prepared by the wonderful Wendy, who equally is as friendly and helpful. I’ve seen other reviews criticising the portions at breakfast. The breakfast is lovely and local produce is sourced, so they don’t want waste! If you want a sausage then ask for a sausage and if want 4 then ask for 4, you get whatever you ask for. Only breakfast is served here but if you need to or want to, stay in at the evening then takeaway menus, cutlery and crockery will be supplied for you. If you’re lucky then sometimes Wendy hand makes gorgeous hot Cheese Scones and an amazing Quiche. 
If there is no one around at all, then just ring the various bells scattered around the ground floor. They are happy to return to the reception desk for any issues or questions and also the bar/sun lounge area, for any type of drinks, hot, cold, alcoholic or soft. 
The hotel is perfectly placed for public transport, is only a 5 min walk to the beach, pier, promenade, bars and restaurants. There is also on-site car parking, plus extra free street parking, we never struggled to get parked up. 
To me, the question that proves how good a place is, is “would you stay there again?” And yes we certainly would, in fact we are already booked back into The Sandhill for the third time, to explore some more of the Island in 2023

This family run B and B is a fantastic place to stay.  Wendy, Dave and the rest of the family make you feel at home as soon as you arrive. The rooms are immaculate and serviced daily, providing tea, coffee etc. There is an excellent choice for breakfast, and nothing is too much trouble, even porridge, (sorry Wendy). Everyone is very approachable and if they can help you they will. I definitely recommend the Sandhill Hotel if you are visiting the Isle of Wight. We will definitely be back. Hopefully soon.

A return (2nd) visit

A Three Star Hotel With A Five Star Welcome.

We had a very pleasant 4 night stay thanks to Dave, Andy, Wendy and Mike. They were very welcoming, friendly and hospitable. The hotel is in a quiet location less than 10 mins walk to the beach. It has a comfortable bar and does a delicious cooked breakfast. Our room was basic but had all that we needed, including well-stocked teas/coffees and a powerful shower. We would stay there again and highly recommend it.

Dave and Andy  welcomed us into their home last week .  We had 42 children with us staying for their school residential .  The service , accommodation and food was excellent.  The children had a fantastic week.  The rooms for the children comprised of bunk beds and en suite bathrooms.  The rooms have been updated to include new carpets and bathroom suites .  Rooms for school staff were well appointed , clean and comfortable.   We would highly recommend this hotel to those taking school groups.  

Thank you for such an amazing stay. See you next year .

School residential

The Sandhill is a well run guest house. the owners are accomodating and friendly. They have good knowledge of the local attractions.
The COVID precautions were well thought out and did not hinder our stay.
Breakfast was a pre-order system but there were no problems. The portions are fine and the choice is good for both the cooked breakfast and cereal, yoghurt etc. The quality of the food served was good too.If you want something not on the list (as we did) just ask, and i am sure they will do what they can.
Our Super-king room was basic, but clean and comfortable. The included towels were good quality.
we ordered food from a take away and the owner provided plates and cutlery to use which is a nice extra.
The parking is limited, but the local roads have some space.

We would gladly go back if we return to the island.

Well run guesthouse that ticks all the boxes

This a dog friendly BB hotel in a good location with a great way of making you feel welcome .Wendy Dave and Andy mum and sons make this a great place to stay.Breakfast is a joy to eat with plenty of choice.We made friends with other guests many who stay here on a regular visit we will be joining them in the future.Our Dog also made a lot of new mates. We unfortunately had a car crash on the first day not our fault and Wendy and family along with other guests made a fantastic job on making us still enjoy the holiday thanks to them all

Short break holiday

Greeted by a friendly couple, relaxed atmosphere, good breakfast and nice rooms. Local advice given, good bar. Having stayed at 10+ guest houses and B&B's on the isle of wight we would now make this our first choice. Home now and missing the place - close to Sandown so dinners and attractions within walking distance and ample parking. A++++++
