Our group have all been cycling around the superb countryside surrounding Kington and after 70 miles of lanes and tracks were very hungry. 
The food was tasty with generous portions and just what we needed. 
It's a friendly pub with great banter and one we certainly go out of our way to return to many times. 
The interior is worn with the passage of time so don't expect sumptuous luxury but you will get a welcome,  good beer and will not go hungry.

This is a pub used by our walking group over the years, so no surprises. Upon entering this basic but comfortable ale house a genial greeting awaited us - a small group for beers and dinner. We ordered pints of the house bitter, and then faggots from the specials menu, and were not disappointed - super beer and really delicious meals. And all at a bargain price! We'll be back again.

We stayed with our dogs at the oxford arms for one night. Warm welcome from the staff and again from Fred over dinner. Dinner was freshly cooked, a good range of choices including for vegetarians and excellent coping with various dietary requirements. Nothing was too much trouble and the portions were very generous and great value.
Upstairs the rooms were clean and nicely presented with plentiful supply of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. In addition, both our dogs were give. Their own beds, bowls and snacks. 
Breakfast was plentiful with great choice of both hot and cold foods.
Shropshire beauty beer was another real find and we will definitely be coming back.
Overall great value for money, comfy beds and very hospitable.

We visited here whilst staying in Kington, after walking around the Royal Welsh Show so was in need of a little sustenances Great friendly locals pub with good food, good beer and atmosphere darts and pool table , barman was very friendly, can't fault it.

Really good hearty and substantial meal after a long day of walking. We particularly enjoyed the pie of the month and the sticky ginger pudding. We had a very warm welcome and a lot of jovial banter. We will definitely return next year when we continue on the Offa’s Dyke Path

Visited this pub while walking the Offa's Dyke Way. Kington was our rest day so tried all the pubs. There were some decent pubs in the town, but this was my favourite. Staff and locals were friendly, it ha a very relaxed atmosphere, and the beer and food were excellent

Highly recommend going here for a meal! some of the nicest food ive ever tried! and highly recommend having the Belly pork!!! on top of all this the bar staff are great and will have a great laugh with you. and as for the landlord Fred he is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet!

Familiar with this pub as we have family living in area. Decided to treat oldies who live local for a lunch and this was the venue of choice. As usual landlord Fred, was in fine form with his usual friendly warm welcome. Plenty of choice on menu from pork belly to usual burger. All dishes served were lovely, hearty, cooked to order and piping hot. Proper homemade chips. Desserts were good too, none of that squirty fake foam cream here. The apple crumbles went down well with proper as it should be custard!! Only niggle was service bit on slow side, but this didn't spoil the occasion and forgiven as meals were so good. I am sure we will all be back again very soon.

Arrived at the hotel to be met by the landlord. A friendly character who checked us in and showed us to our room. Clean and tidy but quirky hotel. Food was excellent, we ate an evening meal as well as the breakfasts during our stay. Breakfast was whatever you wanted! Bar was busy both nights although we didn't really hear the noise as the beds were so comfortable we both slept very well.

We had a very pleasant, comfortable night here - large room, great bathroom, very helpful, friendly people running it.  Heroic breakfast, too!  Yes, it might need a lick of paint here and there, but this is a venerable old coaching inn with a great deal of Kington history under its roof, run for both travellers and locals, as it always has been.  It would be a shame to see it all pimped up - like so many similar ancient inns are.
