Just love this place. Really comfortable and well appointed rooms. Lovely staff who really try to make everything great. Good chef. Amazing location. What's not to like. Breakfast was huge so don't order too much. Perfect spot away from the crowds in The Lakes.

Just spent two nights in the recently beautifully refurbished Swinside Inn 🥰 lovely room, extremely friendly staff, delicious food, amazing views and very dog friendly, wish we could have stayed longer but hopefully will be back soon ❤️

Popped in after a walk and glad we did. Recently taken on by new management, they have done a fantastic refurbishment. Comfortable and lovely atmosphere in a quiet valley. Food was delicious and customer service was the best I've seen in a long time. Staff were polite and helpful and clearly a healthy team dynamic. Really pleased we have found it and its worth the 2 hour trip just for an evening meal. Keep it up folks!

Good choice of well presented pub food with some nice extra touches. I particularly liked the venison burger from the special’s board.
We were a three generation family group and everyone enjoyed their meals. The child’s jacket potato was gigantic!
It was a lovely sunny evening so we sat outside for a drink before moving inside to order and eat - we did book.

Good beer, great food with really friendly and helpful staff. The perfect place to stay for a few days walking in The Lakes. The quintessential pub is exactly how it should be and has very dog friendly accommodation. Very well priced too for the time of year. Will definitely be back. Thank you

A fantastic place to stay. Staff are friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable of the area. The building is amazing, and food .. well the food is worth a visit even if you’re not staying a night or two! Absolutely amazing food! We love everything about the Swinside Inn.

This is now our second time staying at the Swinside Inn and we’ll be back again for sure! 

Oh and did we mention the views?! The views are breathtaking!

We have never stayed in this part of the Lakes more fool us. The Inn is set in beautiful countryside with views straight onto the hills. Many walks straight out the door unfortunately we were travelling on the next day. Please follow the Inns advice about directions, we arrived early and they could not be more accommodating.
Everyone was friendly and helpful, great views from the room, very comfortable bed and so quiet. Everything you needed for your stay was available. We had an evening meal, the pork belly was gorgeous very flavoursome and filling. Part of the entertainment was watching the football fans supporting England, keep believing. The breakfast was great and filling. Would we return simply yes, we enjoyed our stay and would love to explore the area more.   


Excellent place to stay. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. And seeing the view of the mountains when we opened the curtains just made it even more special. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we came back to the Lake District.

First time at the Lakes and Swinside Inn did not disappoint. Amazing Inn located in a beautiful location with beautiful views. The room appears to have recently been decorated and looks nice and airy. The bathroom has a big bath and a separate shower. Amazing breakfast, definitely recommend having it included when you book. All the food is locally sourced and I've never had such delicious eggs, the yolks were such a beautiful colour. The staff were lovely. Would definitely recommend and I hope to go back at some point.

Great service, place and food

Booked at the last minute as we needed a dog friendly break due to our motorhome letting us down. This place has a lovely warm welcome. The hospitality was great and if you're not a dog lover this place isn't for you. They're welcome in every room which worked out brilliantly for us. Our suite, the Causey Pike, was large. The bathroom is modern but the rest of the decor is dated, but it was clean and the views are spectacular (see the photo from the room) with the mountains Barrow (front) and Causey Pike (rear) both in sight. Breakfast was lovely and the pizza £9 and garlic bread £4 was really good value. The bar prices are realistic £21 for a bottle of malbec and £2.75 for q large Pepsi. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Family friendly pub

This 17th Century Inn is placed perfectly for enjoying a nice weekend away in the heart of the Lake District. It is so well placed that you will not need the car if you're wishing to climb Cat Bells. There are also a plethora of other popular sites within just a 20 minute drive. The views from the rooms are great. The pub is lovely to relax in and the drinks nice enough to spend all day in if the weather is bad with a nice warm open fire. The rooms are adequate. They are clean and the bed comfy albeit a little on the small side (but this is to be expected in a 17th Century Inn. The staff are friendly, the breakfasts are good and the food / menu is also good.

Perfect Location

We enjoyed our stay the room was well presented with decor and facilities Tv, kettle, tea, coffee etc. Nice shower with shampoo, conditioner, soap etc. Double bed was very comfy and clean.  The views from the room were awesome over the Newlands valley. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were very friendly. We recommend this lovely quirky old-fashioned Inn and would stay here again.

An amazing stay (again)!

A new and enjoyable experience

Amazing

Booked the Swinside Inn for my son and me. It is in a quiet location.
Comfortable and clean with friendly staff. There is a good choice of food with a specials board for lunch and evening meals with vegetarian options. A good choice for breakfast too.  Average evening meal price £18-26.
Most of the produce is sourced locally. A good selection of drinks is available. There is an outdoor area where you can dine or have a drink and enjoy the view.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit.
