Plough Hotel

Fantastic stay can't recommend it enough.  Lindsey and her team couldn't have been any friendlier or more helpful.  

Room was beautiful and bed so comfortable. 

Food was brilliant and they offered gluten free options. The bar has an extensive range of whiskies, beer and gin.  Breakfast was lovely with a wide range of hot choices.  

Would definitely return.  Main reason is Lindsey and her team for their excellent customer service.

My wife and I visited the Plough on a voucher. The hotel is first class, the staff, possibly the friendliest we have ever met. The food great and the bed so comfortable. The Plough is very homely in a small village but really is worth the visit. Dog friendly,but it is friendly all round.

We would happily stay here again - the staff are all very thoughtful, friendly and helpful. The evening meal we had was super, as was the breakfast the next morning. Nothing was too much trouble for them - they happily set another plate at breakfast for a friend who had come to meet us.
Our room was spacious with the luxury of a bath rather than a shower.

We had a great 2 night stay at the Plough using the 2 night Itison voucher. The room decoration was lovely and the bed was very comfy. Can’t speak highly enough of the staff who were very welcoming as were the locals. Food was delicious and so good we had our meal there on our second night too

Lovely comfy beds,nice Scottish breakfast,very nice people working at the hotel unfortunately we was unable to have dinner at hotel due to staff sickness but they arranged for us to have dinner in a near by in a restaurant that was full a time that suited us,nice big bath which was a sight for sore eyes  after our long walk and a lively friendly bar downstairs 

After finishing the Peninne Way and pitching up my tent late in the evening I arrived at the plough and although they were booked up I was treated to a very welcome dinner, pudding and super friendly hospitality. 


We stopped in for a much needed lunch on a recent cycle. An extensive menu made our choice difficult. Both of our choices were delicious, beautifully cooked and very tasty. Welcoming staff and comfy chairs…the very best example of a cycling lunch.

Stopped in for a meal and it’s never changed since my younger days.  Food was well cooked and staff friendly and sat at the log burner listening to the locals. Good atmosphere, food and drinks,furnishing are clean it’s dog friendly and good for people who like walking in the hills. Lovely area.

We booked an itison deal for 2 nights with dinner on 1st night. Very good value. Large comfortable and clean room. Evening meal delicious.. large portions and well presented.  Good breakfast 
Dog friendly.  all staff very welcoming and friendly.  Pub quiz on 1st night we were there which we enjoyed

You know your in a proper pub when you see rolls wrapped in cling film on the bar!  A lovely warm welcome even for a southerner like me, a nice family atmosphere and a real warm place to relax and feel comfortable. Well recommended to anyone passing by!👍

Good place to stay in a lovely area

Great visit

Stayed for two nights recently in one of the superior rooms. Well worth it. The room was extremely comfortable and a nice place to just sit and relax. I wasn’t over enthused with the evening meal but the breakfast more than made up for it. It was superb and had the added bonus of being accompanied by the most gorgeous Border Terrier you’ve ever seen. The bar is dog friendly and the staff are even friendlier if that makes sense. The two Yetholms are lovely villages and make an ideal base to not only explore the border area but Northumberland too.

Pleasant Borders stay

Disappointed at not being able to travel to France over Easter because of Covid we decide that we would have a Wedding Anniversary treat instead.   We both love the Scottish Borders and decided on The Plough in Town Yetholm as the venue for our anniversary, and we couldn't have made a better decision.   From the minute I made contact with Sandi at The Plough until we left after three fantastic days we were treated like friends.  It's a pub with no pretensions: the Plough is exactly what it says it is "a traditional country inn with accommodation and good food".    I can truthfully say that it was one of the best stays we have ever had in a pub or hotel.  All of the staff were wonderfully friendly, helpful and just great people.   Lyndsay and her team are to be congratulated on the service they provider to customers.   It's always a good sign to see locals supporting their pub and the Plough is well supported.   Our room was excellent; it was clean, comfortable, had  everything we needed, and very important for us it's pet friendly even down to providing dog treats.   

It doesn't have an extensive menu which usually means home made and freshly prepared, and it was.   We chose to eat each night at the Plough and weren't disappointed with our decision; actually we'd made the right decision.   The food is excellent, well prepared and presented and the Cullen Skink is to die for!   It's outstanding and so too is the fish (haddock) and chips, actually all of the meals we had were excellent but those two meals are the Plough's flagships, or should be.   Breakfasts were very good as well - plenty of choice.   

We'd invited seven of our friends from Kelso to join us for a meal on our last evening and had a truly memorable evening together.  We were royally looked after and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals.

 To reiterate, the Plough is a great country pub with good food and accommodation situated at the foot of the Cheviots in the beautiful Scottish Borders.

Nicely decorated spacious bed tooms with good facilities , good breakfast and evening bar meals. staff helpful and welcoming. Town Yetholm is a pretty village in the Cheviots ,  nice local walk to Kirk Yetholm.
