We were back in Edinburgh for two nights after nearly three weeks exploring Scotland. We wanted something a bit quieter than the Edinburgh city centre and a bit more reasonably priced than the big name hotels. Based on TA ratings and reviews, we chose the Castle Park Guest House. What an amazing stay! The location was perfect...a quiet neighborhood yet only a 15-minute walk to Grassmarket. The house itself is a charming Victorian with beautifully updated and luxurious rooms that still maintain that Victorian charm. We had a room on the 2nd floor that was spacious, super comfortable and with an amazing bathroom. Then there was breakfast. Everything is cooked to order and David and Ian offer a wide range of options, including vegetarian and I believe gluten free. The pain au chocolat and croissant were absolutely delicious, as was everything else. As hosts, David and Ian could not have been more gracious or helpful. They gave us some good restaurant suggestions, explained how to take the bus into the city centre, booked us a cab to the airport for our day of departure and were just all around helpful and attentive. We absolutely loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a non-hotel experience in Edinburgh.
