Premier Inn Honiton

Had the early check in which was excellent and well worth the money as we had traveled a long distance.
All the staff were excellent 
Had breakfast and dinner which was worth the money.

We stay at a lot of Premier Inns, and this was one of the friendliest greetings we have received. As expected the rooms were clean and we had a good night’s sleep at the hotel. Thank you to the whole team, we will definitely be staying at this hotel again when we are in area!

Thyme restaurants have a habit of being hit and miss with premier inn, I dont get why. The service at Honiton needs to be formalised throughout the other thyme restaurants in my opinion. It is a chain afterall. Being a chain means you should expect the same level of customer service, where ever you choose to lay your head each night with premier inn. The right staff,experienced at the role they're asked to carry out at the right place within the business. 

This one is definetly a hit. It doesn't matter what day of the week it is, you are most likely to recieve good service. Rooms could do with a better cleaning regime, but suspect the staff maybe on a scheduled time per clean. Management- This part should change. 

Windows to the two lower floors on one side of the building have louvers fitted. This is slightly clostrophobic in my opinion and now I know these are in place I will ask in future if I stay again not to have a room with these attached. 

Overall a good hotel. Free parking for guests too. Bonus

GREAT location with parking. I always seek out Premier Inns for my travel arrangements and all my stays have always been superb over the years, this Hotel was no acception but actually was even better! I can fully recommend, the staff are very freindly and helpful, the room was extremely comfortable, clean and offered all my essentail needs. I apprechiated being told via email that I could check in early and was able to plan my stay arround this flexible facility. 5* all the way! 

I strongly recommend Premier Inn Honiton.  Very conveniently situated on the main road into the town, and with M and S and Aldi very near by. Plenty of parking spaces, inc. disabled. Good spacious rooms (ours was an accessible one).  Accessible bathroom very well laid out. Luxurious and large bed and a great night's sleep. Room temperature fine and adjustable. Plenty of TV channels, including some Sky. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Check in and out easy, as was booking.Excellent breakfasts and evening meals and we felt unhurried. a very positive experience!

After a long day on a cross channel ferry and in the car, this place was a godsend. A good quality room with a good bed and bedding, a great bathroom and great towels. Very quiet too even though only just off the main road. My only issue was the price, a little more than I would have liked, but maybe it would cost less booked in advance.

We recently stayed in your premier inn in honiton. We were attending a family wedding near by. We've stayed at many premiers inns in the past but we were particularly impressed with this one.
Lovely friendly staff throughout. It was lovely and clean and we liked the fact the restaurant is in the building. We enjoyed a fabulous cooked breakfast. The place is run very well.

Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this Hotel, and the very pleasant and helpful Staff. For what was on offer we felt it was good value for Money.

The only drawback was that there was not enough Disabled Parking.

I recently stayed at premier inn Honiton and had a great stay. Darren was very friendly and informative on check in .  I didn't request the correct room when I booked but this was quickly rectified by Mandy. We all had an amazing night's sleep. I can't comment on evening meal but breakfast was very hearty. We all enjoyed a full cooked breakfast. There was even plenty of choices for my fussy toddler, who enjoyed pancakes with Nutella and coco pops. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

From arrival a little early and speaking with a member of staff about parking, I found the hotel a friendly and welcoming place, thanks to the staff. There was scaffolding when I came, so affected the look from outside but wasn't a problem. Inside was clean and comfortable. nice walk into town; stretch the legs! Popped into shop over the road for something for breakfast as I had an early start. Relaxed evening meal and good sleep.Zzzzzz!

Relaxing stop on route

I thought there would be reviews about the hotel part of this Premier Inn and a separate review opportunity for the Thyme restaurant but apparently the latter doesn’t seem to have separate reviews so my review is in 2 parts.  

The Hotel 

Just what you come to expect of a Premier Inn. A very warm welcome despite the poor receptionist being run ragged as they were a staff member short so he was on his own juggling arrivals, serving behind the bar and answering the phone taking new bookings……….. He coped very well and continued to smile through what I’m sure was a trying time.  

The room was large, very clean and all was as we’d asked for with the single bed made up as well.  
My only criticism, generally of the Premier Inns is that the side of the baths is very high and I think elderly people would probably struggle to step over it to have a shower or bath.  
The bed was very comfortable as always though, somehow my pillow was a bit lumpy. It didn’t seem to stop me sleeping though.  
There's ample parking directly in front of the hotel and it's very convenient as a stopover location as it’s really close to the A30 so not a big detour if you’re staying there to break your journey which we were. 
You don’t hear any noise from the road though.  

The Thyme Restaurant

I have to admit that when staying at a Premier Inn we do prefer those that have a restaurant and not a “Brewers Fayre” (or similar) next door and the Premier Inn here has exactly that, a Thyme restaurant. 

The hotel was very busy and as I mentioned before the guy on reception was already multi-tasking being a man down but the restaurant was a chef and a waitress short too. 
Some people were complaining about the delays in being served but to be honest the wait wasn’t that long and given the circumstances the staff coped incredibly well and the guy on reception/bar duty etc was also helping out by acting as waiter in the restaurant.  
The two young female chefs worked wonders in my opinion. 
OK, so much for the background.  

We’d decided on this occasion to take the “Meal Deal” as, unusually for us we weren’t heading off at some ridiculous hour in the morning. 
I took the Prawn Cocktail and my wife the Fish Goujons as starters. The Goujons were very good and the Prawn Cocktail was packed with lots of Prawns. 

We both then had Sirloin Steaks, medium rare with a peppercorn sauce. The steaks were as they say in modern parlance, “cooked to perfection”, the steak was very tasty (not like a lot of steak we eat in France) and the sauce was excellent. 

We drank the Merlot which was lovely and smooth.  

With the breakfast the following morning it was OK. 
When we’d stayed before Christmas the hotel was fairly quiet so the breakfasts had been cooked to order and they were excellent. This time because the hotel was packed it was a buffet breakfast and it was a breakfast of 2 halves really. 
The bacon was excellent as was the poached egg which was cooked to order for me. The sausages, I think had probably been sat around for a while as, although they tasted good the skins were difficult to cut. Also the hash browns and mushrooms had a strange taste which led us to believe that perhaps they’d been cooked in old fat.
A shame. 
Was good to see that Marmite could be had in those little individual pots and on this occasion the coffee machine was working. What would be good though would be a choice of a smaller cup as even a double espresso, which I have with my breakfast went cold very quickly as the only cups available were normal sized coffee cups.
