From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm & friendly welcome by Bob, he is a credit to the team. I arrived with my 3 children & we had the most wonderful Time, the pod was perfect for us which also included a fridge, microwave & kettle aswell as a tv. The facilities, showers/toilets were superb & kept very clean as was the entire park. The outdoor pool was fantastic to spend the day by, it really was the most perfect couple of days away with the children & I am really hoping to be able to come back again next summer. Thankyou for having us Merryhill I've already recommended it to so many of my family & friends. 

THE POSITIVES

Our visit started with a check in to reception and there is plenty of parking in this area along with the recycling bins.

The welcome was warm and friendly and we were shown to our XL pitch which had an electric hook up and access to a tap which was fine to use as drinking water. A heads up if you are going that the taps not suitable to drink from have signs on them so if you see one without anything ... go ahead and use it.

The pitch size was very generous as we had plenty of room for our Padstow 500, awning, gazebo, and windbreaker.  We had our own little slice of paradise for a week.

It took us a little time to set up so we were now really able to have a proper look around the site to get set up because we brought the kitchen sink with us literally.

There is a mix of caravans tourers, camper vans, tents, and holiday homes spread across the site so it has a mixture of people and vibe to it.

We were on pitch 22 which is one the two extra large pitches adjacent to the pool and had some shade provided by the massive pine trees which helped when it got up to 28 degrees.

I spent a lot of my time listening and watching the wood pigeons which appeared to be the fattest and birds I have ever seen!

We were able to access the loos, showers, and outside pool within two minutes walk so the location of the pitch was fab for us.

The club house is closed this summer due to the new owners needing to get their Alcohol licence and getting to grips with the running of the site.  There are a lot of repeat guests and some were disappointed that it wasn't open.  But for us this was a blessing as we prefer a quiet chilled site and as the club house is next to pitch 22 and 23 would have disturbed us at night!

The outside pool is bigger than it looks on the photos and is a nice shape so that one group of people can not totally take over the pool.  This was cleaned every morning before opening at nine and closed promptly at seven pm.

We were told that the indoor pool was closed and not available for use but as it was so hot we wouldn't have wanted to use it anyway.  The outdoor pool was so nice and a good temperature we felt spoilt.

If you want to use the sauna which is next to the showers and clubhouse kitchen it operates off old pound coins so needs to be converted to a new coin operation unit.

The showers always had lots of hot water and we didnt have to wait once to shower despite it being the beginning of August.

Staff came round and checked on us and how we were doing and I know if we needed anything they would have done their best to do whatever needed.

The setting of the site is in the middle of nowhere so it truly feels like an escape and somewhere you can breath.

Pitch 22 is towards the bottom of the site so our washing up facility is in the clubhouse kitchen which is open and there is a small fridge in there but no freezer which would be handy to have to put ice blocks in..... maybe something they can get for next year?

There is a fridge and freezer up at the launderette which is at the same level of the site where the glamping pods are and not a realistic place to easily get to up the hill carrying your washing up/food unless you take your car.

We managed so it wasnt a biggie!

There is wifi but it is chargeable and I think quite expensive so for the price of the pitch per night I would expect to have had access to free wifi because staff and owners must know that the phone signal is none existant... again something easily rectified.

I am with o2 and had no phone reception on our pitch which was both a blessing and a problem.  If you go to the top of the site and at reception you do get it.

They need more bins across the site and possibly another recycling centre towards the lower end of the site.  We found ourselves having to hoard our rubish which wasnt pleasant with the amount of wasps around because of the heat and then making a trip to reception where we dropped it off.

There is a large Sainsburys less than ten minutes drive away which is on a retail park which also had a McDonalds, The Range, M&S Food Hall, Pets at Home, Argos, KFC, Next Home (Longwater Retail Park).

Again I cant stress enough how clean and well maintained the site was and the friendliness of the staff.  We wouldnt hestitate to return if we are ever in Norfolk again.!

Great Site which with some easy tweaking would get a five star review

The perfect mini break

We stayed 1 night in one of the camping pod.

Really excited as my partner's birthday treat.

Lovely welcome from the receptionist.
Showed us to the pod.

Went swimming in the outdoor pool which sadly had a huge wasp problem.  Poorly managed by staff. 
Children being stung which ruined there day.  Parents upset.  

Back to the pod in the evening to have an ant infestation in the room. 
All over our clothes and bedding. 
Everything packed back in the car. 

Great stay apart from nature which I agree is difficult to control but could have been better managed.

Birthday treat

on first glance this place seemed perfect, the pool was lovely and the fact there was a club house seemed nice, we might be able to pop down and have a few drinks in the evening whilst the kids played pool etc.  We stayed for 4 nights last August and we were pitched next to the pool and clubhouse along with about 6 other groups all of whom seemed to have bonded over their love of karaoke and drunken shouting.  We had 2 sleepless nights, the clubhouse didn't shut until 1am and our charming neighbours hardly went to bed in a considerate fashion.  I approached the office after the first night and was told by the woman that "they weren't the Gestapo", she seemed extremely irritated that I'd complained. I believe the owners were away so perhaps this is not normal but the result is I would clearly never return.  When I am handed a list of rules on entry to the site they are not usually optional.

Once very popular, but not for 4 years. Re-sold summer of 2018 and many static caravans removed and several lodges.50% occupancy of pre 2015 days.No longer taking bookings for holidays / campers / pod users. Indoor pool no longer in use.Club house and bar closed. New owners intend to obtain a Residential License.
