Went to the Halfway house for Sunday dinner today and it was gorgeous! Everyone on the table commented about how stunning the food was and all said we would return. The staff were really friendly, helpful and nothing was too much to ask. The pub itself had a lovely warm atmosphere too. I’d definitely recommend a visit!

I visited  the half way last weekend for a meal. I had the chicken curry and it was delicious. It came with loads of extras including a Bhaji. I had a glass of Prosecco which was also delicious and a pot of tea to finish. The place is really lovely inside - very traditional and has lots of pretty fairy lights. I’ll be coming back!

Took my family to this lovely pub for Mother's Day lunch.  Fabulous 3 course lunch, all 7 of us thoroughly enjoyed all courses.  The food from starters to desserts were all so tasty and the food was plentiful.   Great atmosphere  and lovely staff.   5 star from us X

Really excellent meal in friendly pub atmosphere with just a few tables. Cooking and serving by the family. Our B and B had failed to include it in its recommendations. I believe it has changed licensees and name recently so maybe that’s why. We would have gone back with more time

I ordered a Sunday lunch delivery today and have to say it was delicious, big portion, good assortment of vegetables, tasty gravy and all for reasonable price, i will definitely be ordering again soon  and now i've sampled the food will book to dine at the pub with a group.

We went for our first meal out since last year and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the food. I had the sweet chili salmon which was gorgeous. 
In our group we had peppered chicken, cajun chicken, Cumberland sausage, falafel burger and fish goujons. Everybody was impressed with their meals. Staff were lovely and attentive. Pub was full and it was like clockwork. 
Awesome job. We really enjoyed. 

Used this pub and hotel on a Tuesday evening, travelling through the area with family. Great selection of drinks available in the bar, including bottles of butty bach( my new favourite), the food selection on the menu was plentiful. When the food was served, it was a great plateful and cooked to perfection. Service was slick all-night! 
The rooms were fairly basic, but we were not paying for the Ritz! The room was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities...everything we needed for our stop over. Terrific little place, I will definitely use again if passing through.

lovely old pub, nice lunch but nothing special - don’t get me wrong 8/10 for lunch but it was busy, service slow and parking non existent. please book.  moaning done - i would go again but perhaps later in the afternoon - sunday lunch is 12-4.

4 of us went there tonight (Saturday) for a meal.  Service was very friendly.  Food was AMAZING!   We all had scallops for a starter and they were cooked and presented perfectly.  We had different main courses - the mixed grill which consisted of steak, gammon, belly pork, sausage and chicken breast with chips, egg, peas, tomato and mushrooms was huge and all cooked exactly as requested. The lamb shank which again was cooked perfectly and fell off the bone.  The surf and turf, which the steak was absolutely melt in the mouth and the king prawns were beautiful,  The belly pork with mustard mash was really lovely.  Really big portions too.  All finished off with chocolate fudge cake and ice cream!  Couldn't fault any of it.  Would highly recommend. Great atmosphere as there was a 50th birthday party going on with karaoke whilst we were there and all added to a great night. 10 out of 10 and we'll definitely be back!

Welcoming, cosy pub with rooms. Friendly welcome, super food, comfortable room. What's not to like! We had a wonderful Saturday night dinner. We saw the food on Sunday lunch which looked fantastic. We will eat Sunday lunch next time we stay which will be sometime in the next six weeks

Booked the Half Way as it is local for our family and an easy meeting place.
After a long wait stood together at the bar and unintentionally getting in the way we were eventually  pointed to our seats.
After waiting nearly an hour a young, unenthusiastic young lady (can't be blamed it is Xmas) approached us and asked if we needed anything.
The meal arrived and we were very happy with our order.
In summary.. Lovely food... Over worked, unhappy waitresses.

Halfway decent!

We stayed here while going to an event in nearby Blackwood.  The accommodation is above a very pleasant inn.  The room was clean and big enough.  Ours was a converted attic, so not ideal for a tall person, otherwise good.  We didnt eat but the menu looked good. 
One quibble was there was no draught ale when we were there.  Small point maybe, but strange for a pub. 
Location is a little off the beaten track, but a 4.50 taxi gets you in to Blackwood. 
To be fair, 3.5 stars is probably right, but i'll round up.

We visited  as a family for a birthday meal 
The waiting time was reasonable. We ordered our meals , very generous portions.
My son's partner is vegetarian and was disappointed with her meal which contained far too many raisins.overall it was a nice evening.
