In Chepstow Road, there is this hotel, the Gateway Express, and a few doors away, the Gateway Hotel. They are part of the same business. There is a tiny sign by the front door saying "Gateway Express". The check-in has to be done at the other hotel. The Gateway Express is unmanned. There are no staff there. There is no breakfast there. In effect, it is an annexe of the slightly more expensive Gateway Hotel. The latter does do breakfast by the way. I stayed in room 5 at Gateway Express. It had a double bed, TV and good bathroom. It was all clean and tidy. The location is 5-10 minutes walk from Rodney Parade and 15-20 minutes walk to the city centre and Newport Railway Station. All in all, it was a comfortable stay. It was £45 room only for the night.
