A great place to stay run by the loveliest people, feels like a home from home.

The staff were very accommodating, the breakfast food was lovely, and you could get a private room for such a low price

Signs easy to follow. Parking on site, quiet at night. Private bathrooms, towel, clean everywhere. Free self service kitchen, all kind of food for breakfast. Hot drinks and i actually could take a good night during my business trip!

Checked in quickly. I was able to use a hairdryer that I'd forgotten to pack. Clean and comfortable room. Nice breakfast.

Basic but very friendly and helpful, everything you need and more. Free serve yourself breakfast from wide, healthy range provided, with kettles toasters, fridge and microwave available for use. Teas/coffee can be made any time. Iron and hair dryer available to borrow. Ample free parking. Very well located for Papworth and Addenbrookes. Excellent eateries nearby. Excellent value.

Their cleanliness is top notch.  The lodge is very conducive compare to the price.

Good place with a helpful manager. You get what you expect and read in the reviews. The building and the door are not accessible for people with mobility issues. They probably have a lift but it doesn't work. Breakfasts were pretty sufficient. Make sure you read a few reviews to prepare yourself for your stay, for example, bringing your toiletries along. They could clean their electric kettles for better hygiene. Rest was fine. I took the private bathroom outside the room option which worked fine for me. I stayed there for a week. Would go there again.

Very convenient for Addenbrookes. My partner had a surgery and was in over night so I was I. The Shelford lodge. It’s very basic but honestly there’s almost everything you need. I had a room with a private bathroom that was across the door from my room. I was given one towel and there were no products in the bathroom. My fault though as they did say that - I just forgot in the hurry and nerves of my partners surgery. I had a shower using hand soap which was fine. The room had one pillow and really I could have done with 2 but it’s fine. The breakfast room was available 24/7 and there were tea, coffee, milk and cereal available if you needed it outside breakfast time. At 8am some warm options were added - baked beans, I think eggs, then cold cheese, meat, humus, white and brown bread, toasters & microwaves were available all day too. If you’re looking for a cheap room over night this is pleasantly basic.

Basic, reflecting the price. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Think individual room (en suite) 1980s youth hostel (without needing to do chores). I guess many others reviews are not too good because people want a bargain.  Top value for bottom price.We stopped 4 days and would certainly return. It is good value for what it is, and lovely helpful staff/owners. Dawn chorus a bonus. 17 bird songs identified.

Different, but don't underate it!

For the price the lodge was quite a nice place to stay at. The room smelled neutral and room was clean. Toilet seat in hair was covered in black hair, but that was the only uncleanliness I found. Bed was comfortable, reception friendly, included breakfast a bonus. The doors are quite hard to push open, and the reception wasn't always occupied and I could hear several people loudly asking around for the lady, making it a bit noisy being right next to reception. Shower is quite a squeeze but working well otherwise. I appreciate the kitchen in the room, but it's of no use without a kettle, cup, and spoon which was a bit annoying. But all in all one of my better stays and recommended for lower budgets.

Comfortable and okay for small budget

Self checkin could be difficult but easy if it goes right. Parking area full of scrap cars and waste. Shower head and sink haven’t been cleaned in a while but bed was clean. Heater stuck on so window open all night on to a noisy road. Disappointed by it really. Wouldn’t take much to make it a really nice place and worth over £50 a stay.

First of all - cheapest hotel at Cambridge (what is the same like middle or high price at Manchester for example). Big rooms, big shared bathrooms, unlimited heating, breakfast buffet included. Parking. For me it is wonderfull hotel. Yes, no room servis, no one is entering you room to make beds - but I don't need it and I'm happy with no room servis, what is more, for me it is next advantage of this hotel.

Basic accommodation at a really good price close to Cambridge. Everything simple but nothing much to complain about - bed a bit quirky, perhaps, but comfortable enough to sleep in. Breakfast is better than you would expect for the price. This is my third or fourth time. If you have a bike you can just as well stay here and save your money when you visit the university. There is a bus outside but beware of the slow morning traffic.

Value for money

If you are driving to travel, it will be a good choice to stay in this hotel. Since it is a bit far away from the Cambridge town, we need to take the bus with around 30 mins from the town to the hotel. The environment around the hotel is very nice, you can have a walk to the Thames river with around 30 mins walk, and we saw a beautiful sunset during the walk. The staff is very nice. And the room condition is very good. The bathroom is very big but it is outside my room, I can't sure is it share or private bathroom.

Nice hotel but a bit far from town

Bed was comfy - compared to how British beds could sometimes be. Breakfast better than expected! Bathroom in the corridor - well, functional but low water pressure in showers. I know the area and have a bike, the ride into Cambridge is fine and takes 20-30 minutes. The bus is no good option during rush hours! After that it is fast enough. The place is calm and you can sleep well.
