We were staying in Cinderford and struggling to find a place to drink ale and eat food a bit later in the evening. After a walk in the area we stopped by on the off chance and found a nice friendly bar, serving a well kept Wye Valley Brewery Ale. We kept going back every night for the rest of the holiday. It was well worth the mile each way walk. Note although food was not served here, there is a very good value place about 100 yards away, we ate there most nights and returned here for a final drink or two.

We had a great stay in this lovely hotel! The rooms are really comfortable and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The bar area is cosy with a lovely atmosphere. Vanessa on the bar 
was very attentive and made us feel so welcome! We would definitely stay again. Thanks for your hospitality

On the outside a little tired, on the inside a little gem. Clean tidy and friendly. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. Our twin room overlooking fabulous views from the back was toasty and beds very comfortable..very cosy indeed. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk which was topped up the next day. This is a great hotel for the money and perfect for exploring the area. No food is offered however plenty of restaurants in the area and a great fish and chip shop opposite. Would not hesitate to return.

Absolutely enjoyed our short stay here at Littledean House Hotel!  The rooms were a decent size, beds had comfortable blankets and pillows and the en-suite bathrooms were more than adequate. We were surprised at how much room the kids had to play with their monster trucks 😀! Breakfast was conveniently located at Belfry Inn a short walk away. The view from the garden was lovely. Sand was very efficient at check in and super helpful and friendly when it came to recommendations for food and activities. It was our first visit to the Forest of Dean area and this made for a good experience. Would stay again. We stayed with two small kids 3 and 6 and a wee one 5 months. The staff from housekeeping was also very sweet to the baby.

The property was very clean and comfortable, and the owner and staff was very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them , would recommend .

Too true, the soft bed & pillow was just what I needed, after along drive  from Manchester & day in the Forest of Dean.
On arrival, we were offered the services of the hotel, with the option of breakfast just down the road the following morning.
The room was very clean with the facility of beverage, should one require it.
The cost was very reasonable & if I would have joined the "locals" in the bar, I'm sure they would have been as  convivial  as the proprietor. All in all a restful night after a long day.
ps. Ample parking at the rear of the hotel.

Incredibly historic old hotel, parts of which are Jacobean. Yet despite this, it doesn’t feel half done at all. The bar is terrific with a contemporary twist which doesn’t detract from the ancientness of the place at all. My room was spotless and my bed soooooo comfortable it was a struggle to get out.  I arrived late and it was snowing so didn’t get to appreciate quite where l was but, in the morning, the sun was blazing and the thaw was on and the view from the gardens behind the hotel are stunning and indeed, Littledean itself is nestled in the most beautiful location it’s hard to leave. Combined with the wonderful welcome and hospitality of the young lady behind the bar whose name l cannot remember l’m ashamed to say. Thoroughly recommend and l will most certainly be back. Thankyou guys 👍

A really lovely pub/hotel.  We stayed in the middle of October.  Our room was very well appointed for the cost.  The bed was incredibly comfortable, more so than more expensive hotels that we have stayed in.  The owner was very welcoming and accommodating and the pub friendly and cosy.  Would highly recommend.

A little oasis for walkers...

The reservation was for myself and my teenage son. The staff when checking in were friendly and accommodating. The accommodation was warm and welcoming and clean. There was one radiator in the room which was off, But once this was switched on. The room was fully heated. Facilities in the room were as expected bottled still water, kettle along with tea and coffee also bathroom essentials. The room was facing towards the main road of the hotel, which did not raise cause for concern. We slept peacefully and the beds were really comfy. I would recommend this hotel for short night stays.

A haven for the weary traveller

This is a super little pub with a lovely space out back, undercover bar & views. They dont serve food but you can eat close by. Rooms are standard but adequate & comfortable at a fair price. Host made me more than welcome & he is obviously  investing in the pub, with all its quirky pub memorabilia. The Rugby was on when I went & we had free homemade sausage rolls.

Excellent budget hotel

Owners and staff were lovely from the minute we arrived. Very tired after our long drive from Scotland we were trying to figure out if we could get a large van through the tunnel to the car park. Sandeep came over and assured us it was possible, pointing to a similar sized van already parked there. Sharon at reception was great. Genuinely interested in the reason for our stay and really helpful, despite having hurt her leg and being immobilized our keys were waiting and our breakfast order taken. The hotel is quirky and rooms and corridors involve negotiating lots of narrow sets of stairs, so not really suitable for elderly or disabled. Some rooms overlook the beer garden which can get noisy at weekends, but the double glazing does a great job and most events are over by 10pm. Rooms were spotlessly clean and included towels, two pillows, complimentary tea and coffee, locally made chocolate, bottled water hand soap, shampoo and an shower gel. No hairdryer, but asked at the bar and Sandeep arranged for one to be waiting for me at reception when I returned from my walk which I returned the next day. Great night's sleep. The beds have memory foam mattresses and were very comfy! Next day Lisa the Breakfast Manager cooked us a lovely breakfast and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast is an extra £8.50 but includes tea, coffee, juice, cereal, toast and full English (meat or vegetarian) and there was a kids menu as well. They will accommodate requests for things like scrambled egg on toast or filled rolls but we didn't need this. Full English was two slices of bacon, two fried eggs, sausage, mushroom, baked beans and tomato with one round of brown or white toast. You won't leave hungry! The breakfast area is just off the historic panelled reception area and very large and comfortable. Later we returned to our room and met Caroline the housekeeper who kindly gave us extra bottled water for our long drive to Wales and then back to Scotland. Later Lisa helped us check out, return the hairdryer and pay for breakfast and saw us back to the car park. All in all a great experience and if I had one regret it was that we didn't have time to visit Littledean Jail as we had to  be in Wales next day to collect a car.

Quirky Location, Good Bar, Great Staff, Safe Parking, Comfy Beds, Great Breakfast, Fantastic Value for Money!

Needed a one night stop off while in the area visiting a friend and found this place online - suspiciously cheap but pleasantly surprised on arrival.

This is an old building with accompanying low beams, squeaky floors etc. but my room had everything that I could need, with the only downside being that it seemed to be directly above the bar. This wasn't a huge concern though, and I still had a good night's sleep.

For a double, the room was quite small and the water pressure in the shower quite weak, but I really only needed to get my head down for the night and to that extent it was perfect.

Would definitely stay again.
