Went with some friends as a school reunion, and it couldn’t have been a better place for us. Such friendly and kind service - they came to us straight away as we arrived bit-by-bit, and they were so attentive. Incredibly dog friendly and accommodating too, with a series of dog treats brought over just for the doggie. 
The food was delicious, quick and exactly what we needed.
We then played darts and had delicious deserts too.
All very well priced!

Went for a social drink then the Friday fish and chips. Fabulous. I live in Cornwall and found the fish and chips were better than a lot of places in Cornwall. Batter just right,fish delicious and at £20 for two a bargain. The landlord cooks pub grub at sensible prices which led to a busy evening ably coaped with by the mother and daughters. Great banter at the bar and its beginning to become the old pub it was. I wish them every success as they seem to have found a niche in the market.

Stayed after airshow at RIAT, nice big carpark and friendly host. Nice quiet room with shower and enjoyed a good cool pint in the bar. No problems getting up to go early in annex. Will be back again to enjoy the hospitality. Good value and near some lovely locations.

Very friendly service, great staff, sorted out the booking cock up within minutes, great accommodation, quite bar but will improve given the new nanagers enthusiasm. Highly recommended, will stay there again when visiting friends.

Lovely pub.. mix of modern and old. Very warming and friendly....has a roaring open fire to sit around on those cold days or evenings. Big choice of meats for the Sunday lunch...delicious. Staff were very friendly and even the chef came out to say hello. Well worth a visit

Being local, we visit the "Jockey" mostly to have a drink on a Friday or Saturday evening but every so often, mostly when we have family/friends to stay we like to dine there too. The last time we did this prior to our visit on Saturday evening was 6 or so months ago and sadly were not that impressed with what was served up and the general look of the place. The new owners have smartened it up considerably and the standard of the the fare greatly improved, while still maintaining the lovely character of the old building. I had the gammon and my wife and her sister had the fish pasta dish, all of which were excellent and the service efficient and friendly. The place has had a lick of paint and the cleanliness is now what one would expect in such an establishment.

Very pleasant and comfortable stay in a lovely room. Our spacious room had everything you need, including toiletries in the bathroom, hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities and even a small fridge.
A continental breakfast was included in the price and cereal, croissant, jams, fruit juice and fresh milk are provided in your room.
The hosts are friendly and welcoming with nothing too much trouble.
Pub itself is lovely, warm atmosphere and serves very good food.
Will definitely return to use again and have no hesitation in recommending.

I booked a table purely on the trip advisor reviews - we were staying in the area. It was brilliant - our food was well cooked and presented and the service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Stayed with friends within the village decided to go to the pub for a Sunday roast, the food was fabulous with a good selection of beers and wine, the price was very reasonable for the quality of food, wish i lived closer it would definitely be my local.

7 of us were staying at a local Airbnb for a birthday weekend away and wanted to get out on the Sunday for a good lunch. We looked at a few local pubs and picked horse and jockey based on the reviews. We didn’t regret it. Delicious roast (chicken or beef with roast potatoes, carrots & parsnips, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshires) - great value for money, quality roast and drinks plus tips was £24 per head. Dog friendly, we took our own two and also loved saying hello to the two lovely Labrador puppies owned by the pub staff 🥰. Relaxed, friendly and efficient service from everyone. Thank you very much for a lovely afternoon.

Nice rooms every thing you need .when in pub Great choice of drink and had food there. it  was amazing 👏 Hot and full of favour.  Staff was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Well done to your team . As we was leaving even the cleaner asked we was OK

Lovely visit 

My wife and I booked into accommodation at the Horse and Jockey for two nights  18th & 19th March 2022. Straight away we could feel the friendly atmosphere in the bar/restaurant area. This is a lovely old pub with timber beams and a big fireplace with woodburner. Staff are attentive, friendly and polite and go the extra mile to look after customers and guests. Our room was set in a seperate block behind the pub and within easy staggering distance from the main bar. Our room was clean with a comfy double bed, ensuite shower/toilet, TV and a small tabletop refrigerator. Food is the usual pub fare , burgers, fries etc. The friday evening was steak night and was very busy, booking a table is advised. Breakfast is a 'continental' meal in your room consisting of yoghourt, fruit, cereal and croissants, which, although adequate, is not as desirable as a good old fashioned full English! Hence only 4 stars. All in all, a lovely place to stay for access to Faringdon, Wantage and Oxford and the beautiful scenery around white horse hill and the ridgeway.

Two night stay

Steak night on Friday 18th March was fairly busy. Great selection of steaks, plus other meat & vegetarian options. Starters & desserts are also varied. We were unable to sample the desserts as starter & main proved to be ample.

Service was really friendly and prompt.  

Chef mistakenly prepared my steak medium and my wifes' lamb steak medium-rare when it should have been the other way round.  However, the error was quickly rectified.

Very enjoyable evening.
