Used the location for a family get together for a diamond anniversary celebration. Staff were welcoming and attentive and made the day special.

We very much enjoyed our stay here, this was our second time returning in under 8 weeks. The rural setting of this hotel is brilliant for walking around the local area. We even managed to do some bird watching from our bedroom window! 

Holywell is a small and quiet village, just a short drive from St Ives which is well served by the park & ride bus into central Cambridge (£3.50/return).  The rooms are small but comfortable and they were clean, my husband was very impressed by how comfortable the beds were. 

We enjoyed several meals here all of which were tasty and well cooked with generous portion sizes. We also enjoyed their breakfasts which were great value for money! 

The absolute highlight of our stay were the friendly and helpful staff, Team Leader Julia was warm and welcoming and happy to tell us more about the local area and recommend local eateries and activities as well! 

All in all, a brilliant option for couples visiting Cambridge and the local area!

Countryside Retreat

Clean and comfortable, great choice of breakfast options. Lovely pub, quiet and peaceful by the river. Two nicely kept real ales. Nice meals available in the evening from friendly staff. If you like peace and quiet stay here.

Nice and quiet

Good to see our local recovering from a bad patch in the past. New chefs and bar staff have obviously improved standards.
Food was very good and served quickly. We had three courses and all well presented and tasty.
Cheerful and helpful staff.

Beautiful location right on the river bank.  We had 2 nights at this amazing hotel.  Our room was large, clean and extremely comfortable.  The was a great choice for breakfast.  The location is stunning with a large beer garden.  The staff are friendly and helpful. They arranged a 6 seater taxi for us into St Ives which is a beautiful town which happened to have a jazz an and blues festival and a food market.  The menu offers a good choice of food in this historic pub.  We  will definitely be retuning. Thank you Ben and the team

We’ve just eaten an excellent roast dinner prepared by chef Richard. 
Mine was a gluten free roast turkey dinner and my husband had roast beef.  Both meats were cooked to perfection.  I was amazed to see that the chef was able to provide me with very tasty gluten free versions of gravy, rosemary and garlic potatoes, yorkies, cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. 

Can definitely recommend but book ahead.

Always lovely food and staff. Would 100% recommend to friends and family. I always look forward to visiting. Very clean also. I love the dog friendly aspect, it allows more people with their families to be welcomed.

Review

Stayed for lunch at The Old Ferry Boat with friends from the Jaguar Drivers Club in the function room. Claire and the team are doing a great job in turning the place around, we've being going there as a group for a few years now and had seen the quality and service drop off but pleased to be able to report things are definitely looking up!
Food was well cooked and tasty - I had the pork Sunday roast - service was pleasant and all in all everyone had a good time.
Look forward to going back there again next month.

Great time with friends at The Old Ferry Boat

 Have used the Ferry Boat a couple of times recently after a long absence.  Staff are friendly, there was no waiting for our food which is good and served on piping hot plates, always a positive. Happy customer.
