Excellent staff very friendly and helpful, location very good and close to the cathedral

We met an old school friend and enjoyed our stay at the pub. Good food that was well presented especially the breakfast. Staff helpful will use again

The property is well positioned in Ely, once parked everything is within a short walking distance. The staff were very helpful and the accommodation was very comfortable. The food was very nice and overall the whole experience certainly lived up to our expectations. We will certainly use this property again on our next visit to the area.

Although the property is in the centre of town, it was very quiet and calm. The room was amazing, plenty of space, comfortable bed and no noise heard from the pub or other residents. The menu offered was good with plenty of options as was the breakfast. I would not hesitate to stop there again when I visit the area.

Excellent staff and room was clean enough Only gripe is the paper thin l lead glazed windows ( I’m guessing it’s a listed building) I could hear people talking and walking on the street 1 floor upAlso very noisy road from 5 am until 11pm ! Tractors and bin Lorrie’s at 5:30am annoying as no soundproof windows or walls

Stayed for a week, travelling alone. Location brilliant, lees than 5 minutes walk to Cathedral and riverside. Room well equipped and comfortable, with air conditioning that was very welcome. Some road noise, windows are original, single glazed and offer little sound proofing, but road quiet at night and it didnt trouble me. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent, lots of choice, freshly cooked, hot, well presented and delicious.  Bar and restaurant very nice, with patio area for drinks and food. Would recommend this hotel for a stay in Ely.

Brilliant breakfasts!

Really was of 'royal' standard! A hotel of really high quality. Well presented, comfortable room with AC. All the amenities, beautiful decor. The pub itself served delicious, fresh food both in the evening and for breakfast. Full English was amazing!! Breakfast is included and there was good variety. Properly home cooked. Finally, their customer service was excellent. We moved there from another (terrible) accommodation. The owner/pub landlord himself arranged an early check in for us. At reception, staff were all so nice - took our bags up for us, bug smiles at dinner and breakfast and organised quick nibbles for us before we left for wedding we'd come to Ely for.I would definitely recommend the Royal Standard. Would stay there again if back in Ely. 10/10.

A real royal standard of service!

We received a warm welcome and were shown to our room. The room proved to be very comfortable with everything you need for a short stay. The mattress was super comfy as were the towels provided. The room did suffer from road noise from early in the morning, however, everything else made up for this. The stay included a free breakfast so our expectations were low. We were surprised to be given a full menu to chose from: full English, salmon etc.. plenty to chose from and delicious. Good value for money.

We stayed as a family of 6.  The hotel staff could not do enough for us.  Food was excellent and rooms lovely and exceptionally clean.   Restaurant is well worth a visit too.  Unfortunately my dad was taken ill once arriving and the manager and staff at the hotel went above and beyond and were so professional and helpful.  They called an ambulance and gave us guidance and got us the help we nèeded.  They worked hard to get a room ready early for him after seeking medical attention.This is one of best hotels i have ever stayed in and recommend most highly.

Visited Ely for the first time. Chose theRoyal Standard due to location in the “city” centre. Pre-visit I emailed a couple of questions re parking. Quick and clear response. Parking is right behind the pub in free to park public parking. The staff explained simple process to avoid parking fines. Able and welcomed to check in early. Room was very clean and comfortable with separate sofa/lounge area. Bed very comfortable and shower big and easily adjusted temperature.Didn’t eat at the pub  in the evening but the breakfast was superb. Great produce freshly cooked to perfection.All staff helpful and friendly and the pub is in an excellent location for exploring Ely on foot. Cannot recommend The Royal Standard highly enough. Thanks to the whole team

Ely explored

The property was beautifully quaint with low ceilings etc. Our room was very dusty but other than a dirty remote control, acceptable. The stairs were difficult if you have any mobility issues, however the staff carrier bags up which helped enormously. The air conditioning was amazing as it was 32•c! I slept like a log as the bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and well stocked, just needed some extra cleaning touches. All together a strong 4 out of 5.

Room was a small.double but still okanty if room for 2 if us. Lovely decorated had and everything u need. Breakfast was amazing with a great choice all included in the price. Only issue we had was parking as we arrived at lunchtime and the carpark was full but plenty if onstreet parking within a 5 min walk
