This is an excellent Premier Inn close to the A1. Very comfortable rooms, excellent shower and very friendly staff. Beefeater next door good too, maybe the price should be allowed to go up a bit to get a bit more quality but the meal deal is exceptional value.

Our stay at Durham East Premier inn was made that extra bit special by the warm welcome we received from the moment we arrived.Inparticular the kindness of the staff at The beefeater restaurant was exceptional.We are already planning our next visit to Durham & there's only one place we'd like to stay!!Thanks once again.

The Premier Inn Durham (East) is conveniently located on the edge of the Belmont retail and business park, halfway between the A1(M) motorway and Durham city centre, on the main Go North-East 'bus route to and from the coast.
The hotel itself is a typical offering from the Premier Inn budget hotel chain, with large and clean en-suite bedrooms, but the friendliness and helpfulness of the locally-recruited staff is truly exceptional. 
There is a Beefeater Restaurant adjacent to the hotel at which guests can enjoy a full, cooked English breakfast as well as a reasonably-priced, three-course evening meal. For example, an 8 oz Sirloin Steak with Chips, Garden Peas and Grilled Mushrooms costs GBP 15:99. A Banofee Cheesecake for afters will set diners back by GBP6:99.
For those travelling on business, there is the usual large workstation in each bedroom with three 240 Volt, 3-Pin electrical power outlets, plus a large flatscreen television. The HDMI feed to the television was not, however, in working order. The free wireless internet offer, provided by Virgin Media, isn't particularly fast (Download 1Mbps/Upload 0.4 Mbps/Latency 46 ms) but will do for basic tasks such as sending e-mails and Facebook messages and uploading photographs. Guests who require faster internet access can upgrade on payment of a GBP 5 per day supplement.
The en-suite bathroom contains the usual toilet, washbasin, large mirror and combined bath/shower, plus a wall-mounted  115/230 Volt 2-pin shaver socket.
There is a hospitality tray with an electric kettle in each room.  Supplies of complimentary coffee, tea, sugar and milk may be obtained from reception.

Came for a date night in Durham, receptionist was really lovely, giving our room keys and explaining where it is etc. 

Room 103 is quiet, even on a Saturday night and with views of the car park, you’d expect noise but only light traffic can be heard during the day.

Bed amazingly comfortable and extra pillows is a nice touch if like me you sleep with loads. 

The bathroom was immaculate. With nice products as an extra touch

Will return again definitely

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and always receive a warm welcome. the rooms are always clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly.
We paid part of our bill with leisure vouchers and although the lady on reception had never done this before,it was not a problem to her. 
We would like to thank Chris and Rona for the wonderful service we received on this and previous visits to Durham East.

We received a warm welcome. The staff was very friendly. We stayed 2 nightsand fault anything with the rooms.  We had our meal and the breakfast at the adjoining Beefeater. the staff was super friendly as well. If I am correct with the name John that looked after us at breakfast, he was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. To be honest all the staff was amazing. Our rooms were spotless and a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Will most definitely return in the near future

Very easy check in with a lovely lady on reception. All the staff are very helpful and friendly both in the hotel and the restaurant/ pub next door. Durham East is ideally located for exploring the surrounding area and is also quiet and peaceful in the evening.

We had a excellent stay at the hotel. The reception staff were very friendly from arrival to departure.  The room was immaculate and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had one of the best nights sleep in hotel.We definitely choose this hotel again if we have been in this area.

Stay for a nite away with friends , check in was was fast and was great by a lovely lady what was on shift most of the time we was staying , room was lovely and clean we had breakfast next day which was lovely too would definitely stay again , very close to the motor way too

I have been going to this premier inn for past 2years on buisiness  4 days a week.  The  staff   Roana  Becky and Alan treat mead though I am there best friend 

They make me feel as I am part of the family  as well as treating me as a guest I am in the area until 2026 1st choice every time stopped at 2other Premier inns in Durham  not a patch on this one

Booked 3 rooms her for family trip to explore Durham and Beamish , staff and check in excellent,  room was as expected and provided great couple of nights sleep, though not as luxurious as some city centre Premier Inns , adequate car parking, and would highly recommend the Broomside pub adjacent , a real family friendly atmosphere created by all the staff there , food is excellent. Durham City centre  is a very short taxi ride so all in all a great location

Good never a Issue

We stayed here in December while up visiting family, couldn't be more happy with the service we recieved. The reception staff chris and rhona were helpful, friendly and had good knowledge of the area around them. The rooms were clean fresh and cosy. Staff were happy to help with anything that we needed. Would recommend to anyone visiting the durham area. 

Great Stay 

Stayed here for christmas greeted at reception friendly warm receptionist, when entering our room was a selection box for kids and nice biscuits for ourselves very nice thought, room was clean  fresh, every staff member we met while visiting couldnt be more helpful,  we did not use the resturant as  we were visting family

excellent stay

Two night stay for a social event up North, plenty of parking available on arrival and check-in was straightforward with my request for a room on the second floor at the end of the corridor honoured. The car park wraps around the hotel so there isn't really a 'quiet side' to the hotel but the rooms generally are quiet enough (although the bathroom fan does stay on) with the odd car speeding past. Room was clean, tidy - the odd bit of mould in the bathroom - and in a normal Premier Inn layout. The heater was very efficient at keeping the room warm! There was a bit of a problem with the room key which was easily rectified. Only gripe would be that the standard WiFi is still hopelessly slow, which for a business hotel isn't really good enough.

Breakfast in the adjacent Beefeater was nice - especially the cooked side - and staff very cheerful, but (and this isn't an isolated event, many Premier Inns are doing the same) the cooked breakfast is still not buffet which does sort of take away from the all you can eat aspect and a fair few items from the continental were missing.

Overall a good stay and at a very reasonable price - I'd be happy to come back
