Lovely clean hotel, everything you can need and close to the centre for a great night out!
We will be back (for a chilled one next time! Haha)

The bed was divine and I slept so well. This was my first stay here and I would suggest to anyone thinking about trying the Premier Inn that it’s a fantastic place to stay when visiting Durham Brewers Fayre next door is lovely for breakfast too.

Visited for my god daughter’s christening day stay was exceptional staff and all needs were met for my full party of 3 staying at this hotel  very attentive food was spot on for breakfast sleep was again exceptional

He has been amazing gone above and beyond for me my mum and daughter a lovely warm welcome and a winning smile highly recommend  a real credit to the company

Another great Premier Inn experience. Always try and book with them when going on holiday. Right next door to a substantial retail park as well so lots of shopping opportunities. Only a few minutes from Durham city centre and 10m minutes from Beamish.

4 rooms between us. All clean and equipped with the usual bits and bobs (soap, tea, coffee etc).  Very clean. Friendly helpful staff. Nice comfy bed. Everything I expect from Premier Inn. Ample parking.  Half of us had the breakfast and it isn't what it used to be, but that is the same across the group I think. Costs have been cut in the quality of food and it shows. Went to Gregg's for a bacon roll on day 3. 

I stayed because of a family funeral but have stayed regularly when visiting family and holidaying in the NE.
The Durham North prem Inn is v comfortable and convenient with a large outdoor retail park just round the corner and a good pub on site   

Very clean and comfortable hotel. Close to lots of facilities and the excellent city of Durham. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good value for the quality encountered. Will definitely be staying again when visiting the area.

We have stayed here 5 times in the last 12 months for 2 nights each visit. It is always great with very friendly and helpful staff. We encountered Mark, a member of the night team who very kindly helped us when we wanted more coffee and milk. On the 2nd night the room next to us had their TV on very loud and I couldn't sleep, so I went downstairs at about 04.30 am and Mark assisted in trying to rectify the problem. 

Located just off the A167 this Premier Inn is ideally located to visit the area. The hotel is one of the larger Premier Inns but is still on only two stories.

The hotel is located next to a Brewers Fayre restaurant which provides the usual top class Full English to hotel guests.

Brewers Fayre was having staffing problems during our visit and waiting times for food were unacceptable however the food was good when it arrived.  I felt sorry for the staff who were taking a lot of flak due to the management not having addressed serious issues and this was not fair on the staff.

You can't beat a Premier inn!

Been staying at this hotel for business purposes for around 3 years, location is perfect to both Durham and Newcastle, spacious car park for work vehicles, durham city centre a half hour walk or 2 minute bus ride away, with a retail park located next door for any thing you may need.The staff are always helpful especially Holly and julianne in the restaurant, with reception staff always polite and friendly, happy to assist.

Home from Home

We stayed for three nights whilst visiting the local area attractions. The main reason for choosing a Premier Inn is the breakfast, which was amazing. Next is the comfortable rooms. There was no air con and even though it was only around 21° in the day and cooler at night, our room was like a furnace. we had to have the fan on all night on it’s top setting which disturbed our sleep and left us a tad grumpy. The bathroom remained damp and hot too.

The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff extremely helpful and nothing too much trouble. The only issue we found was the temperature in the room overnight which was so hot. The rooms were supplied with fans, which we were using and there was an option to request thin cotton sheets instead of duvets - but my husband and I weren’t even entertaining the thought of a duvet! We stayed with our ten month old daughter so had our Gro Egg thermometer in the room with us, which was showing 27.6°c for the majority of the night. As comfortable as the bed, pillows and sofa were in the room - neither of us got a decent nights sleep due to the temperature and that was a shame. Unfortunately I feel there’s not a lot the hotel can do about this, as the air units in the room are not made for cooling but just heating - so just something to bear in mind if you’re travelling in the summer months. 

Clean and comfortable - just extremely warm

I was pleased with my stay. Premier Inn have built their brand by providing consistent VFM but do need to be careful not to be too complacent. I will come to that further down.

Car parking was easy and the hotel easy to find. The city centre is about 3 miles away and is an easy walk, pretty much following the route of one main road in, in a nice, safe neighbourhood all the way. 

Check-in was ok. Staff were pleasant and doing their job BUT I was 30 minutes early and was told it was £10 for an early check-in. Another couple decided to go to the pub opposite, I decided to wait in the lobby. No fault of the staff and my fault for being early,  but in my eyes this policy is improving. If the room is ready and people are early then let them have it. Of course, if it isn't ready then they can't, but if it is then why not? This just came over as a way to make extra money from people, but actually it has put me off from using Premier Inn 'The brand' again.

My room was spacious, clean and everything worked. Hats off to the housekeeping staff. 

It was generally quiet, a little outside noise in the daytime, but nothing that distracted me too much as I worked throughout the day in the room.

Bed was comfortable and I slept like a log each night of my three night stay.

Breakfast at the pub/restaurant adjacent was excellent for taste and quality BUT on the Sunday morning of my stay it was extremely busy and therefore noisy, crowded at the buffet area and I felt rushed. The Monday and Tuesday breakfast times were much more relaxed. The lady who was seating people on the Sunday was extremely professional, efficient and did everything with a smile. A big asset, many wouldn't have coped with it.

The biggest negative was the internet speed. Slow, slow, slow. Unless of course you upgraded (for £5 a day) . Come on Premier Inn you can do better than that. Just make that your standard and ditch the one that clearly is not up to the job. 

So, the plusses - good location, nice room, great staff, tasty food, good sleep
Negatives - £10 for 30 minutes early check-in, £5 for decent internet

In short, Premier Inn policies are letting down the staff of this hotel and that needs a rethink. You've built the brand, but don't get complacent.
