We celebrated a friend's birthday with lunch at The Castle and we really couldn't have chosen better. From the moment we arrived the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly and the service throughout was exemplary.
 
The food was really tasty and well-presented with very generous portions, so we all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. (It would be nice to see more vegetarian/ vegan options on the menu but that didn'taffect our enjoyment at all.)

Although we all live in or near Devizes, none of us had been to The Castle for years - but we shall certainly be back before long!

Lovely hotel, clean and airy room. Lovely breakfast with a good variety of choice.
Fab location in the middle of town.
Very friendly staff too,especially Maisie who was very warm and friendly and checked us into our rooms easily and quickly.

One night stay

From booking to the day of our event, everything was superb. We had a group of 20, and the pre-order process was smooth. The food arrived on time, and each course — starters, mains, and desserts — was delicious. The service was excellent, and the staff ensured everything went seamlessly.

Work Christmas Lunch Review - The Castle Hotel

When myself and my friend arrived to stop for the night we were greeted by a very friendly and informative receptionist called Shannon who answered any questions. We found the room spotlessly clean and tidy and had everything in the room and bathroom that you could possibly need. We ran out of teabags and milk but not for long as we were given more of these by another friendly member of staff who was attentive to guests and was told about the history of the hotel which was really interesting. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was perfect - freshly cooked and very tasty. Had a good nights sleep in a comfy bed then went down for a lovely breakfast. We were asked by the lovely lady in the restaurant if everything was ok and if we needed anything else, and again the food was cooked to perfection. We would certainly stay there again as all of the staff were very friendly and professional. Would recommend anyone to stay at The Castle Hotel. Wish I could give it more stars. Well done everyone for making us feel so welcome.

Perfect Hotel and professional staff

Third time we have stayed here as we have family in Wiltshire that we visit. Stayed here Christmas night. Phoned in advance to see when we can check in and how late to get in as they were locking up at 9pm as it was Christmas. They were kind enough to say they would ensure our room could be ready early to check in so we could head off to see family. Key is given if coming in after doors locked but when we got back there after ten there was still someone on reception to greet us. This is why we stay here - friendly and helpful staff, lovely atmosphere and clean, modern rooms. Our double room was spotless and warm and spacious. We had an amazing night’s sleep and went down to a warm welcome for  a delicious breakfast with countless coffee top ups. Looking forward to staying here again.

Friendly and helpful staff

Lovely place to stay, all the staff were welcoming and friendly. My room was clean and well appointed, the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast and evening meals were tasty and well cooked. A great atmosphere in the bar. Cleanliness could not be faulted. All in all a superb stay. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family. Next time i am in Devizes this will be my first thought for accommodation. 

Friendly staff, comfy beds, great food.

Stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding nearby. Highly recommend this hotel. Asked to check in early and they made sure room was ready ⭐️ Also mentioned we may be a little late returning from wedding and again they were very accommodating and helpful. 

Nice clean spacious room. Very quiet and peaceful.

Great stay

Excellent hotel for a stopover or a little longer.  We cycled to Devizes from Bristol and stayed there overnight.  There is a secure bicycle storage area.  The room was very clean, good shower and comfy bed. Breakfast excellent too.  Really good value.

Excellent for cyclists and anyone else!

We have been to Devizes a few times but never stayed at The Castle Hotel before.  They were hosting an AMF Army reunion so it made perfect sense to stay there too.

The Castle Hotel owners Cine and Andrew were there when we arrived and gave us a very warm welcome.  All of the Castle's team were warm, friendly and very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.  They get 5* from me just for this!   

We'd booked a double room (including breakfast) which was spacious and tastefully decorated, with tea & coffee making facilities, bottled water and biscuits.  The bathroom was new and very modern with a bath and powerful overhead shower, lovely toiletries, beautifully crisp white towels and a paper shower mat (something I had not seen before). The king size bed was comfortable with lovely pillows too.  Although the hotel is on the main street the secondary double-glazing is great, as you don't hear the traffic outside, we both slept really well each night so woke up feeling ready for the day ahead.   

Being on the main street, there's very limited parking at the hotel but there is a cheap car park directly opposite the hotel with ample parking spaces.  

The Castle has a really good food menu serving delicious freshly made to order food ranging from light bites including sandwiches and jacket potatoes to  steaks, pasta as well as hot coal meals and their specials menu.  

TIP - Their Sunday lunch is the best we've ever had and their Yorkshire puddings are huge.

The bar stocks a good range of reasonably priced draught and bottled beers, wines, ciders and spirits as well as low/no alcohol drinks.

The hotel is a great place to stay and ideally located for visiting the local area including Caen Hill Locks, Wadsworth Brewery.  There's some cycling and walking trails too.  If you're driving then you're not far from the Kennet & Avon Canal Museum, Avebury, Bristol, Stonehenge, Longleat and Salisbury.
