The Northey Arms

What an amazing find! I was looking for a place to stay, near Bath that offered parking (as it's notoriously hard to find a hotel with parking in Bath) and up popped The Northey Arms. It was absolutely amazing! When we arrived, there was a small mistake with our booking which the lovely assistant manager on duty that night (we arrived after 9pm) quickly and cheerfully fixed. The room (in the main house on the floor above the pub) was beautifully appointed with a kettle, tea, fresh milk obtained from the bar, and some surprise cookies! The bathroom was HUGE and luxurious with a deep soaker tub as well as a separate rainfall shower. The cupboard contained a hair dryer as well as an ironing board and iron. The bed and bedding were exceptionally comfortable. I was amazed at how quiet the room was being over the pub - they have done a great job with soundproofing! My one "complaint" with the room was that the bathroom lights are on a sensor so if you go for a wee in the middle of the night, the bathroom lights up like an atom bomb went off and you can't over-ride it. Not very pleasant in the middle of the night or trying to relax in the tub. If there is any way the hotel can give an option to override the sensor, or make the lights dimmable, this would make the perfect room! We had booked a package that included breakfast, and I highly recommend it! Not only was everything we ordered absolutely delicious, they allowed you to pick any items on the menu and did not limit you because you were on the package. Food quality and service were so good, we decided to eat in the restaurant for our last night and that food was delicious too! Our lovely server in the mornings recommended we take the bus into Bath (inexpensive for a return ticket and the bus stops right outside the hotel) and not have to deal with the car in a city where parking was limited. This was a perfect suggestion and really made for easy travel. Our car was very safe in the hotel parking lot - no concerns at all there. Overall, I would recommend this inn to anyone looking to stay in the area (Bath and surrounding). We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every moment!
