The White Hart

We booked for two nights en route from Wales to Devon. We had met family for lunch before so knew how lovely it was.
We aren’t able to fault our experience, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was amazing. Our room, was tastefully furnished and overlooked the outside area which was very pretty. Luckily the sun shone so we were able to sample delightful drinks outside. Well done to all. Linda and Kev.

We stayed two nights with our 6 months-old daughter, and the experience we had has exceeded any expectations!
Magical atmosphere in the historical English countryside, cozy and comfortable rooms, delicious traditional food in the pub, with a beautiful view on the small river. Thomas, Alyona and all the staff were very warm, professional and caring (I have a diary product allergy and I could always find something delicious to eat!)

Lovely big room and the location was perfect. Staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic.
Lots of parking and the outdoor space for relaxing and drinking is great (to call this space a beer garden would be an injustice)

The most authentic stay. Absolutely wonderful.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at The White Hart Inn! We were warmly welcomed and thoroughly looked after by all staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable with beautiful serene surroundings. We went on a lengthy walk from the pub up to Castle Combe and back down through the village of Long Dean that was absolutely stunning. Highly recommend a stay here to slow down and enjoy nature, would love to be back in the warmer months to enjoy the outdoors of the pub and the surrounding area.

Fabulous trip in the Cotswolds

Sip, Supper and Snooze

A lovely one night stop over while visiting the Chippenham area with friends. The pub is in a quiet village and has nice outdoor seating overlooking the river. The staff were friendly & helpful and the service good. Our room was comfortable, with ' free' tea/ coffee and home- made cookies (very nice). Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and fruit / cereal/ pastries were available. We really enjoyed our stay

A pretty village pub with a warm welcome

The building,  dining area and bar are very nice.  My room was great.  I had a difficult journey due to traffic and severe weather so hadn't booked to eat.  They served me a meal,  so I was lucky,  but food service closed around 8pm.  The waiter asked me to tip.  I was going to anyway, as always do unless service is bad.  But staff should not ask customers to tip. We are not in the USA.

Lovely friendly staff in a lovely position just off the main road. Executive room was very comfortable and good size, which was in one of the cottages opposite just across the road. The evening meal and breakfast we had was really nice and tasty. The bar and dining room was traditional in some places and cosy. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Look. If you're expecting the Ritz-Carlton, you're going to be disappointed, but for what it is - a quaint English pub, this is a very solid option.  

The location is amazing and beautiful. The main building is quite spacious.  The restaurant area was nicely appointed. The pub area was functional, but I give it a low coziness score. With the multiple rooms that they have. If they dedicated a bit more care, taste, and budget to the interior design and layout, they could really have a first class pub experience with a cozy, old-world, authentic feel. For now it comes off as a bit of an afterthought. 

As for the accommodations, we stayed in a separate building.  The rooms despite showing a bit of wear and tear around the edges, were clean and well appointed. Comfortable beds. Nice linens.  The bathrooms were fine, although we did have an issue where the shower drain was stopped up.  Again, signs of wear and tear here. 

The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The breakfast options in the morning were quite good.  Dinner was typical pub fare, that was just fine if not particularly remarkable. 

The staff gets an A+ I forget the name of the manager, but he was very nice, and then there is Josh who was a rock star.  Despite the restaurant being completely booked for New Year's Eve, Josh arranged for us to have a reserved table in the pub. Effectively our own private dining room so that we weren't left out in the cold on New Year's Eve when everything else was booked up.  Likewise, Josh helped with our bags and got us tucked in efficiently and comfortably.

The good news is according to the manager (was it Nathan? Kevin?) said that the pub was due for a renovation/makeover in the coming year.  If they do that right, the White Hart has a chance to be a star attraction in the Cotswolds.  The ingredients are all there - they just have to do it right.

A satisfactory stay at a gorgeous location.

From the minute we arrived we couldn’t have asked for more. Celebrating hubbys 60th we had a meal in the evening which was outstanding and stayed overnight in their rooms, which are beautiful. Breakfast was also fab. Staff very friendly and helpful, couldn’t have asked for more. Will definitely be going again

Excellent

We had a lovely dinner here. The service was amazing, prompt, attentive and very friendly. I had the hake, which was lovely fresh and very tasty, my partner had the pasta dish and said that was amazing too. The desserts were phenomenal! Shame they only had vanilla ice cream but the home made brownie was the best I’ve ever had. We will be back! 

Great service & food

After reading the many negative reviews we were regretting our decision to book here. HOWEVER, we had an excellent overnight stay. Staff were very friendly and informative on arrival, rooms were clean and adequate for the price paid. We had an excellent Sunday roast dinner. Check in and check out was easy. We would be more than happy to stay here again as and when passing. The saying always try for yourself definitely stands here.
