The Bay Horse accommodated a large group for Sunday lunch as we were all staying in nearby lodges. We were seated on separate tables but all
in the same intimate area. Everyone said it was the best Sunday lunch they’d had in a long time. Great choice of meats available cooked to perfection. It was all absolutely delicious and served promptly by lovely and friendly waiting and bar staff. A perfect ending to our weekend!

Just popped into the Bay Horse for a quick drink this evening, lovely roaring fire, great atmosphere.  Sunday lunches are always very good and good value.   Need to give a specific shout out to Katy behind the bar, she was the perfect host!!!!!!

We have been here a few times and never been disappointed the Sunday diners are really tasty come out hot, plenty of meat, extra gravely and plenty of veg. This time we got sides mushy peas and cauliflower cheese both great. I had a pint of Poretti which was decent my wife had a glass of wine again good. It’s was really busy which is always a good sign. We plan on returning for a mid week meal some time soon

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Loads of different fresh vegetables and meat cooked to perfection! Friendly staff. Quick service. Well worth a visit. Parking is available but bit tight. Best park a little way off and walk. Dog friendly! Even have special dog treats !

Firstly, a lovely warm welcome to us all, the staff are lovely.  The homemade mince & dumplings was everything I wanted after miserable day! Plenty selections of beers/ales to choose from. 
When they say dog friendly, this is how it should be! Water available, treats at the door ( how lovely).

We highly recommend the bay horse and we'll be returning customers when visiting wolsingham in the future. Thank you.

Our favourite part of the trip was the owner's willingness to adapt to our needs.Our room was warm and comfortable and had super towels which was good as we had travelled by train. A further example .. providing porridge which was not part of his breakfast menu and welcoming our son and wife for breakfast. Also providing me with a hair dryer which wasn't included in the room. 
I would recommend this stay as worked out better than an Airbnb in the area. Parking outside. Central location for exploring the Weardale.  We wish Tom every success in the midst of rising costs. We will stay again when visiting the N. East.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Tom was brilliant. I have been to this hotel for 40 years but the team have updated it incredibly well. We ate dinner and breakfast here and the portions and quality was excellent. The room was great, warm, well presented and I had a great night's sleep.

Situated in the village of Wolsingham, the Bay Horse Hotel is a converted 19th century farmhouse. The bar is stunning, warm, comfortable, and inviting. The restaurant is small and quaint, giving the option of an intimate diner for two, or as a party. The rooms are pleasantly decorated and en suite. However, there are a lot of stairs so would not be suitable to some. 

We spent four nights here, and it felt like family. Staying in room two, we had access to the front balcony. The views from this are great. Taking in a beck, bridge, stone cottages and rolling hillsides, it is an ideal place to while away a few hours with a nice glass of wine. Our hosts, Amanda and Rob, were amazing. Friendly and welcoming, they made us feel at home. As we were the only guests mid-week, they allowed us a good lie-in and made breakfast when we went down, rather than a strict timetable. They had great local knowledge on good walks, attractions and events. They could not do enough for us, even offering a fleece blanket so we could enjoy the balcony one cooler evening. 

Bed and Breakfast starts at around £50; meals are around £10. A well-stocked bar has a wide variety of drinks, beer and such is from Cameron’s Brewery. 

The Bay Horse is perfect for a drink, meal or short stay. For walkers, it’s ideally sited for access to Weardale. With only a short stroll to the high street, it’s a great place to forget it all, relax, and enjoy some fresh air.

Many thanks to Amanda, Rob and Jane for their lovely hospitality.  Enjoyed everything about this hotel, everyone was so friendly, staff and locals. Breakfast was one of the best we have had. The room was lovely and great addition of the balcony. Hope to return next year x

Me and my partner stayed at the bay horse hotel on Friday the 28th December for one night on arrival your welcomed with a warm welcome we were shown to our room which was stunning large spacious well done out we got settled then went down to the bar area where the staff are extremely friendly and helpful we had dinner and must say if you want great food you need to try the food here 😀😀😀 the night was lovley couldn’t have asked for better ) the breakfast was great food and service nothing rushed no pressure nice relaxed atmosphere highly recommend we will be staying here regular )))

Overnight stay at the bay horse 28th December 

We were staying in wolsingham on holiday and happened upon this wonderful pub/hotel, it is dog friendly and the hosts are such lovely people they couldn't do enough for us. It has a brilliant atmosphere so so friendly the food is fantastic we had garlic chicken with mushrooms it was delicious and it came with veg one of which is spiced red cabbage, I have never tasted anything ever like it, we had tried the other pubs in wolsingham but they are not a patch on this one.

What a fantastic place, wonderful food, brilliant atmosphere and the hosts couldn't do enough for you 5*
