We stayed as a family of three
Already knowing the quality of Sarah’s cooking from previous visits to Steam, we felt in safe hands.
The accommodation was first class.
Our break was for two days on the Steam and Stay offer and offered great value.
The three course meals were beautiful and up to Sarah’s fabulous standard. I nearly forgot to mention the epic breakfasts which were superb and set us up for the day nicely.
We will definitely be visiting again!!

The Meadowdore stay was delightful, well placed in the centre of Coniston with the boating centre just a 15 minute walk away with boat and kayak hire etc etc and cafe on site, very pleasant place.
We stayed in the Ruskin which was a suite comprising 2 big bedrooms, kitchenette and bathroom with a really good shower! So many times been to paces where the showers are hopeless or cold so this was a good surprise. Breakfast was cooked by Frances and ranged from full English, toast, tea, yogurt, cereal and fruit selection, really set us up for the day. Car parking was a bit limited on site but we had no problem parking on the roadside about 50 yards away, and this was bank holiday weekend.
Coniston itself is just a small village but with 3 pubs within 100 yards and a fourth 400 yards up a hill. Crown was very good but you have to book! (well, you did when we were there) the Yewdale Inn,despite looking lovely from the outside, was very poor indeed, but the Bull over the road from it was really nice and welcoming.

We had a lovely stay at this bed and breakfast. Frances was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was fabulous, full English, fruit, cereals, toast, barista coffee. There were biscuits, teas and coffees provided in the room as well as organic bathroom products. Plenty of dvds in case of rain (we only saw sunshine). The rooms were clean and great pillows and duvets. We had a 2 bed apartment so had a full kitchen as well.

Very comfortable short break in a triple room. Room spacious, warm and comfortable with everything we needed including a fridge and bathrobes. Perfect location in the centre of Coniston. Handy for restaurants, pubs and cafes and walking distance from the lake. Breakfasts were amazing. Frances was the perfect host.

Me and a friend stayed here to climb the old man of Coniston ⛰️. Welcomed by France’s the host very polite and helpful. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. Cooked breakfast is very good. We were a bit unlucky with the weather but everything is close by. It was a great stay, highly recommended.

The Meadowdore is a wonderful place to stay. The accommodation is roomy and comfortable. We were given a suite of rooms and a bedroom each which as friends travelling together is great because we can enjoy some privacy. Spotless and tastefully decorated and set right in the middle of town. Lovely hosts and staff. 
I highly recommend. 

Last minute getaway with my son for an emergency relax. It was the perfect place, you sort of feel like part of a family but at the same time totally private with your own space.

The room was properly clean in a way you often don’t find in “B&B”s, you can tell it is to the personal standard of the owners.

The beds were very comfy, the bathroom was really high quality, the lounge immaculate and comfy, and the stand out feature is the breakfast room and patio area, with the sun shining, you can walk out, lean on the wall and look round at the mountains with the mist rolling down that you know you are somewhere “away” but non-sterile.

Breakfast is lovely, very filling with proper quality ingredients.

Once you’ve had breakfast, there’s no real urgency to do go and “do stuff”. The village itself is has most amenities, there are a couple of interesting shops, and you could just have a break here without leaving the immediate vicinity.

Really really, really good.

We booked Meadowdore for a friends wedding in August. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were very accommodating, with a perfect breakfast offering the full works. They even offered to iron our shirts. Would return. 

Just had a lovely 3 night stay in Church View apartment. Although it was officially self catering it was great to have breakfast included which was served in the B and B a couple of doors down. The breakfast was excellent and served by Frances, the very friendly owner.
We had no complaints about the apartment as it was very clean and it had everything that we needed and no problem parking but that may be different at more busy times.
The location can't be beaten with 3 pubs serving food and small supermarkets only a minute walk away. The lake shore is only a short walk away where boat trips can be taken.

Stayed for two nights in the Yewdale room..I would highly recommend staying here. We thought the bed was extremely comfy and loved the pillows and the homemade biscuits provided with the coffee and tea in the room. The staff were all lovely and friendly.. We enjoyed  great breakfasts and lovely sandwiches and flapjacks when we went out walking. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

Great stay in great location

Fabulous bed and breakfast in the Lake District

Relaxing stay

Had a great weekend here recently. Nice place, good breakfasts and great position in the heart of the town.. rooms are very clean and a good size also and have a fridge too. Breakfast area has been very well done up recently by all accounts and Frances the host is really knowledgeable about anything you need to know about the local area.
