Absolutely beautiful place to stay, great amenities in the kitchen, very clean throughout, comfy beds & views to die for. Only downside where the steps down to it & back up to the car, wouldn’t suit wheelchair user or anyone bad on their legs.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Stayed for two nights, we didn't make much use of the kitchen but it was very well equipped. Rooms were comfortable and we had a great view across the estuary. The parking situation has the potential to be a bit of a pain, and perhaps needs making clearer at booking on the yha website. 

They have a sheet to include your room number, departure date and reg in case manoeuvres need to be made as cars are inevitably blocked in unless only a couple of cars are present. We could happily park at the bottom of the hill but it's a 1/2 mile walk up a very steep hill back to the hostel and could be tricky with small kids. That being said, without the climb up the hill you wouldn't get the lovely seclusion and beautiful views this hostel offers. The staff were very friendly.

Lovely bakery cafe by the bay at the bottom of the hill which we took advantage of for breakfast. Some nice pubs in the next village and a great chippy. 

It was my wife’s birthday and she loves to be next to the sea so we stayed here a couple of nights.
Very friendly and helpful lady running the hostel. Beautiful views and other guests very hospitable. Very close to the coast path or you can just sit and relax both inside and outside on the many chairs and benches provided. Will definitely return again.

Small very friendly hostel. If you are lucky you can even see dolphins in the bay from the hostel. The hostel only has 8 rooms and no cafe/bar but for a chilled out break in nature it is perfect. A few nice pubs/restaurants nearby and in St Dogmaels the local village that also has a nice chippy. The area is just beautiful. Great beaches, walks and loads to do. The “Bay to remember” boat trip is also excellent if a bit expensive. The cafe at Poppit sands is also great but not cheap, highly recommend the huge cinnamon swirl, 

This hostel is at the top of a hill but definitely worth the extra leg work for the view of the beach below. Absolutely breathtaking sunset too. Rooms are clean and very basic, as you expect. There is a good well- equipped self catering kitchen there, which I didn't realise until arrival. Had a decent nights sleep as it was very quiet. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again. Poppit Sands is underrated - it is a beautiful beach.

Life saver.. Beach down at the bottom of the steep hill.. Only 2 buses late afternoon but as you drive up that hill in this heat you thank whoever for putting that service on.. And also a very friendly driver.. Cheers..

Amazing stay as always with YHA, the couple who were volunteer managing the hostel for the week were amazing friendly people. Stunning location overlooking the sea just a few minutes walk to the beach. Plenty of communal space and all the self catering items you need. Will definitely be staying again.

Fantastic hostel. Small room for two but warm and comfy. Facilities very clean. No games in the lounge so bring your own (no WiFi or phone reception either so be prepared). Amazing views out over the bay and a short walk down the hill to the beach below. The nearest shops are back in st dogmaels so bring what you need (including any alcohol as there is no bar on site). We had a great stay - would highly recommend. 

Four of us stayed here for 4 nights during the October half term (2 adults and 2 children aged 3 and 8). We stayed in a 5 bedded room - with a double bed. Plenty of space, beds already made up, wash basin, plenty of sockets, bedside light next to each bed, enough hooks for coats, towels and so on. Beautiful views of the sea from our bedroom. Shared bathroom facilities, basic but perfectly adequate and clean. One toilet was out of use whilst we we there, but was never an issue. Shower was lovely and hot with good pressure. Good sized, well equipped kitchen. Washing up liquid, tea towels and dish cloths provided. 3 ovens and 2 large fridges. Labels provided if you feel the need to label your food whilst here, but we didn't bother. Good sized lounge with chairs and sofas. Amazing views from all communal areas. There were other children staying at the hostel when we were there, and our girls loved playing with them. 

Lots to do nearby. Poppit Sands, Aberporth, New Quay, Mwnt, Newport are all nice beaches. We like Mwnt, and you don't have to pay for parking if you have NT membership - you can just scan your card. Our girls like Cardigan Island Coastal Park - you can feed the animals, walk along the cliffs and try and spot seals and dolphins. Good outdoor play area and indoor cafe. The farmers' market on a Tuesday morning in St Dogmaels is worth a visit, as is the beautiful abbey. We paid 60p to park for 2 hours in the car park (opposite the post office). Nice coffee and cake in the Coach house at the Abbey! There is a Tesco and Aldi in Cardigan for provisions. We didn't go this time, but Dyfed Shire Horse Farm is not too far away and is worth a visit if you have children. 

We love this area, and have been coming here for 8 years. However, we have never stayed at the youth hostel. We would recommend and wouldn't hesitate to return! The challenging parking (as mentioned in other reviews) and steep steps down to the hostel hasn't put us off!

In a fantastic location overlooking the sea and sands at the start of the Pembrokeshire National walk.
I met some other lovely considerate people there of various ages and it just goes to show how people can get on well together. I highly recommend this YHA and the Brains Welsh stout at the Ferry Inn!!!

Four of us stayed at this hostel for one night and we were pleasantly surprised. The low price we paid meant that we weren't expecting too much but actually, this place served us well. We arrived at the hostel when it was quite dark, but helpfully there was a well lit slope down to the reception area (something to be aware of if you are less mobile). There were only two parking spaces at the top of the slope which we could use as we were the only guests that night, but further public parking could be found a 10 minute walk away. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, with numerous dining tables and an adjacent sitting area with sofas. We were fortunate to have the whole hostel to ourselves which was great. Bedroom (accomodated 5) was on the small side, but bunkbeds were comfortable with charging sockets and a light next to each bed. Shower and toilet facilities were clean (one of the toilets was out of order which was fine for our small group but I imagine if fully booked that would have been an issue). The best feature for this place was the seaview - the entire bay could be seen from the living room window. Overall, comfortable stay at a bargain price, would stay again.

Poppit Sands Sea View

Stayed here for two nights with my young child. Booking and check in were simple and straight forward. The location was stunning, but might be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Parking was limited; I didn’t have any issues as it was low season, but I can imagine this may be an issue in the high season. It’s not walkable for young children from the alternative car park. 

The hostel’s location was absolutely beautiful, overlooking poppit sands and Cardigan Island. There were sea views from both common rooms and a lovely picnic spot out front. For a similarly located hotel you would expect to pay probably triple the price of this place. It was a treat. 

Our room was very basic, with only a bed and washbasin, but the price was certainly fair for this. Mattress was quite hard, but we managed to sleep fine. Kitchen was very well stocked, no issues. Common rooms were brilliant, lots of space, and the option to eat in the living room space if the kitchen was too noisy. The common room had games and books for big kids and little kids. 

Toilets and showers were basic, but clean and conveniently situated. I liked the option of a back door entrance to the upper floors so you didn’t have to cut through the common rooms and up the stairs—much easier for dropping luggage.
