Excellent location and accommodation. Friendly and efficient staff. Good food, and plenty of choice, well presented and served. Would recommend this hotel to any group, family who are considering this location for a walking holiday…..

Most  friendly staff and ever so helpful.Evening dinner was of very good quality.Our room had recently been refurbished. Beautiful surrounding countryside.A very good hotel to go guided walking from in the beautiful Peak District.

I came here many many years ago when I worked for trust house forte and stayed many times in those days it's sister hotels were. The Palace at Buxton and the new bath hotel all forte heritage. I was very pleased to see it had exactly the same atmosphere as then and that it was still as beautiful we both enjoyed our stay and the way we were looked after I love dovedale anyway but it was a nostalgia trip for me well worth visiting and worthy of the good reviews it gets both of us  recomend highly 

Friendly, friendly staff, top cold lager (Moretti) and the food (chicken burger and steak sandwich was SO tasty that I feel guilty having had lunch eleswhere yesterday!! Highly recommend! Cheers, we will definitely be back and telling friends to come for lunch here 🍺

The best thing about Peveril is the staff. They are very welcoming and the food service is brilliant.  It must be very hard for them, with the Covid restrictions, but they are coping very well. We stayed four mid-week nights and had a superb lamb dinner on the first evening.  The service is full board with the lunch being a packed bag, with plenty of choice, ordered the previous evening. Subsequent breakfasts had plenty of options, and evening meals had three choices.  We'd chosen a 'best' room and it was lovely, quiet and spotless too - and I heard that most rooms had newish really smart bathrooms like ours. We had three days of walking in most beautiful countryside and didn't need to take the car out once; everywhere we wanted to go was really close by. The only downside is that first impressions aren't that good, if you're coming by car, as the exterior and gardens need some work. Having said that, they're rooms and the food are both excellent so I would definitely recommend this spot for Peak District walking holidays.

We happened to be among the first group of walkers coming here since lockdown. The hotel had been properly prepared to allow for social distancing, with two sittings for each meal to cater for everyone. Common areas were regularly cleaned, and hand sanitisers were everywhere. The food was of a high standard, and the hotel had done all it could to provide a safe environment for guests.

I stayed for a 4 night guided walking holiday with a group of friends.  The accommodation is exceptionally clean, comfortable, slightly dated but perfectly good.  I was amazed at the quality and variety of food.  Everything was cooked to perfection and with great attention to detail.  The local food evening was wonderful and included a wonderful home baked Bakewell Tart.  The food on offer deserves a 5* rating without a doubt.  All staff were extremely helpful and polite.  The drying room for boots and outer clothing was fantastic and included plenty of sinks and brushes to clean up boots.  A very well run hotel and I would definitely recommend to others. To keep it brief : Gabriela is a credit to the place and an absolute gem; staff are lovely and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Lots of different food options, can cater for different diets and even had 4 milk options! Lovely rooms, basic, clean and comfortable. Lovely surroundings.

NOTE - all the whingy negative reviews don't seem to understand licensing laws around not being able to serve non-residents!!!

Comfortable hotel owned and run by HF holidays for a great if rather muddy holiday .
Food was good, company excellent and room comfortable with bath and shower. Great breakfasts with many options to start the day

Stayed here over the Easter weekend on an HF guided tour holiday.  We had a superior room overlooking the gardens. A large, pleasant room with a decent size bathroom (a shower and bath tub). The food is very good as well as the service. The only negative point I have is that they only have a very limited room cleaning. Basically they only wash the coffee mugs and empty the bins. They don’t make the bed or clean drinking glasses. They blame that on lockdown - I fail to see the connection in 2023, unless is just an excuse to save money by employing fewer people.

A charming hotel

Run exclusively by the Holiday fellowship. for there   (short) holidays. An old forte hotel on a short lease. The room whilst very clean was still decorated as a forte hotel. Including the sticker about not asking for a bowl change,! Staff and food good, real Ale avalible in bar.  Staff good and welcoming no sign of the nasty employee. Just needs a bit of an update in several areas,

I stayed here for a two day walking break organised byWalkwise who use HF holiday premises,but provide there own walk leaders. On entering the premises I was intercepted by a lady who rudely told me to put a face mask on but never introduced herself as to who she was and what her role was in the hotel. I immediately obliged and went to check in with the very pleasant gentleman at the reception. I was told I couldn’t check in for another half an hour and could wait in the lounge.I was the only person there. This lady again suddenly appeared and gave me a serious  dressing down about wearing a mask. When I tried to explain that I was the only person there she just kept on at me.i looked at the government website as to guidance re hotels and face masks were not a requirement. I realise that individual establishments can have there own agenda to protect there staff and customers and I am willing to conform to what ever they want me to do,but there are ways to inform people in a pleasant and polite way as first impressions in a hotel should be a priority.  I tried to engage with this lady and asked what her role was in the hotel at which point   She just shouted at me that I’m not talking to you and ignored me. I found this outrageous behavior for a member of staff. I later found out later that this rude ladies name was Sandy and other members of our party had experienced the same abuse. I have to say that the hotel was very nice and all the other staff were absolutely fine and obliging . The room and facilities were first class,and all the food and service  in the restaurant  fantastic. The packed lunches were also a bonus,in all a pleasant vacation.



Walking break

Lovely old charm hotel worthy of Sir Walter Scott 

Usefully situated on the edge of the Peak District. Run by HF. 
Rather tired building, decor and furniture but the rooms are adequate. The views from the windows are spectacular. However the staff are wonderful and can't do enough for you. The food is delicious, varied and excitingly 'different'.  All served by the lovely staff. Adaptations for Covid 19 are sensible and adequate. 
Strongly recommend.

Good value

We were with a group of 14. Due to Covid-19 restrictions breakfast & dinner were at two sittings & we had to choose our times on arrival. Unfortunately this meant that not all our party were able to sit together regularly at mealtimes. It was a shame really. The guided walks were well organised & well led. Setting off from the house each day was a novel experience. Service by the staff was very good & they were all most polite. Our "better room" was well worth the extra as it was large & well furnished with a decent bathroom. Our "indoor balcony" was great for my reading duties.When the bar area returns to normality it will be a vast improvement. Social distancing & hand sanitation regulations were followed at all times.
