Excellent food and great choice.Bar prices very reasonable.Great location to Castle Douglas in very well maintained grounds.Staff and manager so lovely, friendly, caring.

The staff were wonderful and friendly. Very dog friendly. Peaceful location. Perfect stopping off point for our journey to the ferry.

Super friendly and engaging staff. Clean room with a very comfortable bed. Excellent food.

Visited for two nights for my wife's birthday with our border collie Ella. We had a cracking big room and bed was really comfy. Shashank and the staff at the hotel were so friendly and welcoming. Couldn't do enough for us. Had dinner in the pods which was something different and despite the rain the waitress did all she could to look after us. Sticky toffee pudding was great and breakfast was really good. Ella was made to feel so welcome too.

Beautiful rural setting. We had a lovely stay. Friendly, welcoming staff, lovely room with comfortable bed and perfectly cooked food! We will stay here again.

Fantastic hotel with beautiful views, the most friendly staff and amazing management. Waiting staff were amazing, can’t recommend this place enough. Room was clean, bed was so comfy. Dogs welcome, staff were so kind with dog and all said hello. Nothing was a bother, we will be back! Thank you for the cuddles, playing and treats, Harley the German Shepherd. 

We stayed during a bike packing tour through the Galloway area. The location was spot on for us as was everything else. A warm and friendly welcome, comfortable surroundings and delicious home cooked food. We hope to return soon

This hotel opened its doors 5 years ago and we have had an Autumn break there for the past 3 years.
In 2021 it was very much a work in progress and last year we saw many of the improvements that were being made.
This year we have seen this hotel go from strength to strength. The owner is there to give that personal touch which is so important and he is backed by an excellent team who are welcoming,  friendly  and professional. 
We had a very comfortable room and enjoyed dinner in the restaurant each night of our stay. The menu is varied and caters for most tastes. 
There is a nice relaxed atmosphere here where the staff make you feel that they want you to enjoy your visit and nothing is too much trouble to help you to do that.
We certainly hope to return next year for another relaxing break.


Good location staff friendly service good

Exceptional and friendly service from everyone at Ernespie House Hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful, scenic location just outside of town. Rooms were very comfortable. Highly recommend eating in the restaurant and make sure you leave room for dessert. Good value for money with breakfast included. I can't speak highly enough of the service we were provided. They were knowledgeable of the area, even providing recommendations about where to eat (with a non fussy little one)in town or activities to do in the area.

The first family room was smelling of damp, towels were very damp, individual shower gels were empty& left in shower. Pubic hair on the toilet seat. There were 3 staying, only 2 mugs & the glass had toothpaste in the bottom of it. We were really looking forward to our stay. Heard the food was great, just didn't take the chance & ate elsewhere.

Had a lovely break at Ernespie House. The Owner and his team go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Hotel is full of character and the food was amazing, hadn’t planned to, but we ate there every night. Lovely hotel. We had an issue with our original booking at short notice but they accommodated our change of plans which was appreciated.

Grand old world charm with modern convenience

What a great eating place... The food menu cover everytaste possible from Currys,to UK style foods,and even ethnic cuisine. That along with the afternoon tea we saw and even the lite bite option, I can fault what we had.fish gyros,Mac cheese,soup, few side extras x3 and drinks and coffees under £50 for lunch amazing value. Set in a beautiful place that you could sit in forever.

The room was well appointed and comfortable. I found the breakfast ok, and the attendant not observant of our needs despite it being not busy, at the time we were dining only the two of us. We would have lived more coffee and some yogurt but the attendant had left the area not to be seen again. We also were not given the code for the outside door and had to call to get back in after arriving back from dinner out.   The greeting was warm upon arrival, the bedding nice. The shower took very long to achieve proper pressure and heat.  It was a lovely place despite these things.

Goodness, where do we start with this wonderful hotel and owner? My wife and I got married here in late June and Shashank took wonderful care of us and all our wedding plans. He was there for us every step of the way planning wise, helped us with a celebrant snafu, and was wonderful working the wedding alongside his fantastic staff. The hotel is on such beautiful grounds and even if we couldn't stay outside for long due to rain, the inside is warm and welcoming and so very homey. Really lovely grounds. It was a perfect day thanks to Shashank, his wife, and his team of staff. Everyone at the wedding and the day after loved the food and had nothing but good things to say. We still get people raving about the food to this day! Guests who stayed overnight loved their rooms. Every room was unique and was cozy and the beds were lovely. Any problems that we had, staff would always try and take care of it as soon as possible. The bars were well stocked and had a great team serving drinks throughout the wedding reception. 

Even if you're not coming down for a wedding, we would absolutely recommend this hotel if you're staying in the area. Beautiful grounds, lovely rooms, great food.  

Amazing wedding venue

We stayed at this amazing family run countryside hotel for a weekend getaway. It is all the things you need for a chilled holiday at only one stop. 
Warm environment with welcoming owners, supportive staff and a 360 degree lovely views which you cannot get enough off. The most delicious food one can ever have. 
Would highly recommend having dinner at the hotel while your stay. Should definitely stay at the Ernespie house hotel when in Castle Douglas.
