Basic but very good Hostel. Very near train station in city center. Nothing fancy but very clean, safe and good price.

Friendly staff/management. 

Near plenty of bars, restaurants and Cardiff Castle.

Great location and very easy  to check in and checkout.
Staff were all lovely and very accomodating. 
Its a straight forward hostel that does the trick if you are travelling in a big group.
We will definetly be back.

We booked two bunks for 3 nights in a seven bunk room over an extremely busy weekend in Cardiff. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly guy who booked us in , told us the basic rules and took the deposit for our two keys. 
I loved the funky little entrance and upstairs didn’t disappoint. Yes , the rooms are pretty basic, it is a hostel not The Ritz . That said , everything was clean , the bedding was spotless  and beds were comfortable. There was an under bed storage crate for every bunk , just bring a padlock and all your goodies are safe . The toilets , basins and showers all worked and were clean , soap in the dispensers and plenty of loo roll. The location is great , slap bang in the city centre , yet the rooms are quiet , sleep is not a problem. When we came to check out we rang the bell at reception and the lovely manager appeared immediately, she too was friendly and seemed genuinely happy that we had enjoyed our stay so much . Our key deposit was returned with a smile, no problems at all .Maybe the travellers who have complained simply didn’t  play by the simple rules  , be courteous, don’t make a mess and check out by 10 am and all will be good . Thank you to all the team at The Bunkhouse , we will definitely return whenever we are in Cardiff .

Booked the 16 bed dorm for a stag do, was perfect for the group. Excellent location 5 minute walk to all pubs, Castle and Principality Stadium.
Maria, Matt and Piero were great hosts, made us all feel very welcome and relaxed. The Italian Restaurant downstairs is a wonderful addition to the place with lovely Pizzas and good beer.
Would definitely come back.

Was really pleased with my stay. All went perfectly well. There were no issues. The staff were helpful. The facilities were clean and for £10 it was an incredible bargain and I would reccomend it and stay there again 

Great location and friendly staff. Room and showers were clean. Stayed in a 7 room dorm. Bed was comfy and had a great nights sleep. 1st time ever staying in a hostel. If ever back in Cardiff with friends again i will be staying there.

I always come to this place when I am in Cardiff. The town is always so busy so party kinda like, and as I always go out there n come back a litte tipsy. I feel safe to the extreme and never worry. 
The backpacker is basic, showers a bit better than bf christmas(i remeber) n free breakfast 🤗

I give 5 stars bc I wont go to any other, though this place is shabby/chic  like most backpackers, the vibe is very relaxed n safe.

Stayed in an all-female room for two nights. Only a few minute’s walk from the rail station, though it’s right in the centre of town so it got a little loud at night - bring ear plugs! The hostel itself was nice enough. The beds were comfortable and room very spacious. The common area in the basement was really nice as well. 

Only complaint is that the shower didn’t work very well. Had to hold down the handle for water to run, and had no control over temperature.

Cute hostel with nice beds, although not always accessible outlets. The key system is a wristband, which can be convenient, but be prepared to have a 5 pound deposit in cash. The breakfast wasn’t much and the basement smelled a little funny, but overall it was a good place to stay for the price and location.
