Stayed here this week for work, can’t fault the hosts from start to finish of my stay. I unfortunately locked my van keys, wallet & phone inside my van, The Admiral Guest house went above and beyond in helping me call for assistance and making sure I could keep in contact with my family. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped, would definitely stay here again. Thank you once again for you hospitality. Steve

Great guest house excellent location short walk to all Lincoln city has to offer fab breakfast and a big free car park would recommend to all our room was cosy the heating came on morning and night and a pleasant bathroom with plenty of towels

I travelled to Lincoln from Belfast for a conference and needed somewhere close to the University. The Admiral Guesthouse was just an 8 minute walk away, so this seemed perfect. Having never travelled alone before, I was terrified about making this trip,convinced I was going to get lost. However, this delightful little guesthouse was just 15 minutes away from the train station and super easy to find. Upon my arrival I received an extremely friendly welcome and was made to feel at home instantly. I explained why I was there and I was given instructions on how to get to the university and provided with a map. I was instantly made to feel at ease and like I was being welcomed by a friend who was happy to have me stay with them! 

My room was very spacious and very clean. It was equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, and an extension cable enabling me to charge multiple devices at once. The decorations and furnishing were lovely, I liked the mix of modern and vintage design. The bathroom was spotless but my only complaint was the door handle was broken so the door didn't really close properly, but as I was staying alone, this wasn't really a bother to me personally. The bed was quite comfy, but I found the pillows to be quite flat and not to my liking. But again, that's not a complaint as such, just my own personal opinion and I still slept well. The room was exceptional warm as I just happened to be staying during the heatwave. But I contacted the owners and asked for a fan for my room and they couldn't have been anymore helpful or accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they had a fan for me almost straight away. 

Breakfast was included in the price, but I only had breakfast on one morning. This was personal choice as it was very warm so I didn't feel like a heavy breakfast and also, breakfast finished at 8:30 and I personally chose to stay in bed and get a few hours more sleep. However, I had breakfast the morning of the conference when I had to get up early and I have to say, it was delicious!!! There was a selection of cereals, fruit and I believe I even seen a few pan au chocolat. Tea, coffee and orange juice was also on offer and this was constantly being checked and refreshed/refilled. The staff really were so attentive and aware of their customers needs! I chose to go straight for the full English instead of having any cereal and it was absolutely delicious! Hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. I genuinely really enjoyed it and it filled me right up for my day ahead. 

The Admiral Guesthouse was also ideally located. It was close enough to the city centre that everything was in walking distance, but far enough out that it was quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle which I like. As mentioned, it was super close to the university, as well as the Wharf, High Street and main shopping areas. There was a Sainsburys right across the road, a chippie at the corner and plenty of eateries and coffee shops within a 10 minute walk. The Cathedral and Castle were about 20 minute walk away, but given the 35 degree heat and the steep hill, I chose not to do the walk and instead take the walk and ride "steep hill" shuttle bus. The closest stop for this bus was just a 12 minute walk away, making my journey to the cathedral super easy! Everything was super accessible and everything you needed was more or less on your door step. 

Check out is 10:00 which is quite early, and unfortunately my flight wasn't until 6:30. It was 35 degrees the day I was leaving and I was dreading carrying my bags about in that heat. However, I was allowed to leave my bags at the guesthouse and I was even allowed to hold onto my key. I was told I could leave my bags for as long I needed to and that I could use the key to come and go as I pleased until it was time for my train to the airport. This was very much appreciated and really made my day so much easier! As I said, the staff couldn't do enough for you! 

All in all, this was a great wee spot at a great price, with fantastic owners and I would happily stay here again. The location was super handy, the room was very comfy and breakfast was delicious. What more do you need? Thanks to everyone at the Admiral Guesthouse for having me!!!

Stayed at the admiral with my mate as he was coming up to meet me for the weekend . Lovely English bed and breakfast very warm and cosy ...£60 a night for our twin room bargain price . This includes a full English Breakfast which was fantastic we was looked after , they have a large off street car park so no parking in the streets . 
I shall return sooner rather than later

Stayed at the admiral guest house during my visit to Lincoln to see some friends. I have nothing but great things to say about my stay! The Room was excellent - me and my wife stayed in the family room with a nautical theme which was clean and  comfortable. The full English breakfast was out of this world, I was then recommended by the lovely owners to have an evening meal at ole ole which was also incredible.  10/10 visit and would recommend to anyone!

Myself and my partner came from Nottingham to Lincoln for a weekend away and a couple of nights out just before the Christmas period. We was welcomed and was made to feel at home as soon as we walked through the doors. 
The breakfast was fantastic and you can not grumble at the choice you are faced with! 
With it being December and being cold outside there was never a time where we was cold inside- the place was always warm! 
They have a large off-street car park which is also a bonus; Very clean bedrooms and you are waited on hand and foot.
 Truly amazing little family business and we will recommend to everybody!

We received a very friendly welcome at this unpretentious B & B which has off street parking & is conveniently located for the town centre & a good selection of restaurants & bars. It has an interesting naval theme & is clean & tidy. There were a few issues with the twin-bedded room  -  just a single socket for charging the kettle & mobile devices, an under powered shower and only one bedside cabinet - but the breakfast was excellent.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Admiral Guest House for two weekend nights. We were in the area for a golden wedding anniversary celebration and we know Lincoln well. Our experience did not match up with other guests' online reviews, so we are adding our own.

First, the positives. The Admiral was easy to find and had good parking. It is close to the university and the Brayford, and there is also a great, small pub a few steps away. Our room and the premises were clean and tidy. I asked for an additional bath towel and was given one promptly. Our room had a large window that let in good light and ventilation. Despite the nearby main road, it was reasonably quiet, bar some late-night revellers on the street. My husband thought the breakfast was very good. We asked not to have our room serviced the first morning as we were getting ready for the celebration, and this was easily agreed to, with our one request of having the waste basket emptied seen to promptly.

Now the criticisms. Decor doesn't have to be to my taste for me to appreciate it; however, the decor of the Admiral is 1980s -- leftover from the 1980s. Standards have risen in the decades since, and eating at tiny, narrow tables with a lace tablecloth felt like eating on a dressed-up park bench. My take on breakfast was that anyone that can say they cater for dietary restrictions has no excuse for not keeping a jar of decaf coffee on hand. Being told that "3" roast coffee should be acceptable, rather than being told, "Tomorrow I'll have that for you", is right out of the decades' old British manual of (non) customer service. Not waiting for the answer when you ask your guests a question (e.g. when asked we said “white toast”, but were given brown toast) happened both mornings at breakfast time.

People who run guest houses and B&Bs should occasionally stay in the rooms to experience them as a guest does. Our room had mattresses and pillows that were well past their best. Towels were skimpy. Fixtures in the bathroom (glass shelf, toilet roll holder) were not securely fixed to the wall. The water pressure in the shower was abysmal, and having a shower with the water pipes in with me was a novel, but not welcome, experience. The clock on the wall, obviously battery-operated, hadn't been working for who knows how long -- and no one had noticed. The TV remote was worn out form previous guests trying to get it to work to change channels, etc. There was one small bedside table between the twin beds, when a larger one would easily have fitted in the space available and been helpful for two guests' alarm clocks, books and eyeglasses.

Much of this is easily and inexpensively remedied; other changes would take a bit longer and cost more. Two overriding necessities in this business: pride in one’s property and commitment to excellent service. Everything else will flow from these, and then the Admiral will be sailing high.

Not retro, not vintage -- just tired and dated

We had booked this Guest House for a four night stay but when we arrived there we knew within minutes it wasn't for us. The room was very small but they  had managed to get a double bed, a single bed and an armchair in there which left very little room to move.  The armchair was directly under the TV and couldn't be moved so unless you sat on the bed you couldn't watch the TV.  Our biggest issue however was the coldness of the room.  Although there was a radiator it was ineffective to the degree we had no choice but to sleep in our clothes.  We are old age pensioners and this was not what we needed or expected and we left the following morning.
