Warkworth Guest House

My most recent visit to Cambridge was at the end of May over the bank holiday weekend, I was traveling with my family so rather than book a chain hotel we opted for somewhere with a family room and Warkworth House fitted the bill. On arrival I was greeted by the owner who kindly gave me all the information about the property and also a parking permit so we could park on the street outside during our stay. We gathered our bags from the car and headed to our room which was at the top of the property. We had booked a family room and were very pleased with the room which we had been given. Two double beds, a lovely ensuite with walk-in shower, plenty of towels and toiletries, hanging space (with hangers), a desk, fridge plus tea and coffee making facilities. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the room but we did have a good night’s sleep. It was quite a hot night but the shutters on the windows allowed us to keep the window open and it was surprisingly quite considering the central location of the property which is in a residential street just opposite one of the large parks within the city and only a ten minute walk to the city centre. Breakfast was served in the basement which also houses a large sitting room for guests to use if they so wish. Breakfast which was included within the price is a continental buffet along with a cooked breakfast off the menu. Most of the produce is locally sourced and it’s not just the usual full English or a vegetarian option, there are other choices available such as avocado and smoked salmon on sour dough. The food which we ordered was served piping hot and tasted great. We only stayed the one night but we had a very comfortable stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, the owner and other staff members were very friendly and the location is great.
