Wonderful little cottage, ideal for a couple, everything that you could need is provided and very clean and well looked after. Lovely hosts and in a great location in Stratton too. Would highly recommend.

We stayed here from Friday to Sunday. We were greeted with  a very friendly welcome from the hosts. It is very clean and has a calm and relaxed atmosphere. We were served a great breakfast with lovely, fresh food. I would definitely recommend this guest house if you want a nice and relaxing break. 

We have visited several times both in B&B and Garden Cottage which is attached to the main house .  The accommodation is set in the historic Stratton Village with easy access to centre of Bude. 
There is ample private parking and beautiful landscaped gardens for guests to use.  As usual our accommodation was very clean and comfortable with everything needed for our stay.  We have booked our next visit!  Highly recommended…..

Our stay at Stratton gardens was lovely. From the start Jill and Richard made us feel so welcome. The breakfasts were delicious. Their garden was so lovely and relaxing and we would go and enjoy the sunset from the swinging chair. Only a short drive into Bude. Rooms are immaculate. 

Amazing b and b, great welcome by gill. The rooms were immaculate, the bathroom was modern and had a great shower. 
The garden is the star of this b and b. Three tier with each tier having seating options so u can relax with a bottle of cider. 
Breakfast spot on. Full English option had some of the best sausage and bacon we eaten. 
Gill was a great host and very helpful. 
Highly recommended

I was born in the village and was glad to see that it hadn't changed.

First time in this lovely area since pre Covid. Stratton Gardens has to rate as one of the best B&B stays in the UK we have stayed in: why is it, quite simple - a lovely quiet area with plenty of parking on site, the house is rich in history, a lovely warm friendly couple who run this who clearly have so much passion and care for their house and business. Finished to a very high standard, immaculately kept. Plenty of room in the rooms, very comfortable with lots of quality essential extras. 

A nice touch down stairs having a generous sized guest living room. Excellent choice breakfast, pre order for cooked items the night before with an adequate good quality cold buffet, fruit, yoghurts and cereal. Nice conversations at breakfast ensuring that warm friendly welcome atmosphere. 

Very well priced, and kept to a manageable size in terms of number of rooms let out at a time. 

Would we come back, try to stop us!

Would not hesitate to recommend Stratton House

Me and my partner stayed here for two nights at the start of August, for a much needed break away from the hustle and bustle of post-pandemic life.

When we arrived along the small country lanes, we knew we’d found something quite charming and special. We were initially greeted by Dick, who was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the surrounding area, as well as the beautiful guesthouse and it’s garden. Once we settled in, we came downstairs to meet Gill who was just as warm and welcoming as Dick. We instantly felt more like friends, not just guests and you could tell both Gill &
Dick genuinely love having people stay at the guesthouse.

The room was spotlessly clean and inviting, keeping the charm of the beautiful 16th century building with the uneven floors and beautiful big sash windows - but with a subtle modern twist, with a well stocked tea & coffee tray in the room; fresh milk is provided by Gill & Dick on the landing every morning. In the room there was an information book that covered everything you may need to know about your stay, the surrounding village and further afield which was great.

There is a beautiful garden space, which Gill can be seen pottering around and tending to often. There were seats dotted all over the garden, so would be ideal for those who want to spend the day taking in the peace and quiet with a book or something, whilst following the sunshine round the garden.

When we arrived, we noticed they’d been given an award for their breakfasts… and we could definitely see why! Breakfast was a mixture of a continental selection, which included lots of freshly baked breads, muffins, yoghurts pots and preserves and cooked elements; all lovingly made by Gill and it was all very tasty and set us up well for the day ahead.

The location of the guesthouse means that you are away from the busy roads and you can hear nothing other than the birds singing and the church bells, which means you have the chance to completely relax.

Thank you again for such a wonderful stay, we can’t wait to book up again!

Excellent guest house.
We had a lovely room and breakfast was excellent including homemade bread and Marmalade.
We enjoyed sitting in the garden on an evening.
The hosts were extremely helpful giving us local information.
We certainly hope to return.

Winter break. 

A hidden tranquil gem

Such a lovely place to stay. The room was lovely and very peaceful plus had an extremely large and comfy bed. The gardens were available to sit in with lots of seating areas dotted around. We loved the breakfasts - top quality ingredients and Gill is an excellent cook! The Cornish breakfast was delightful although only managed it once as so filling and I wanted to try the Cornish bread and homemade jams and marmalades. Gill and Richard were the perfect hosts - very kind and helpful. It really is a great place to stay and we hope to return.

Top notch in every way!

Gill and Dick are the best of hosts and have done everything to make your stay as special as possible, this 16th century property is beautifully furnished and maintained, our bedroom was
spacious and comfortable with a good sized bathroom, we also had a bath as well as a shower.
The whole house has a welcome feel to it and you can be forgiven thinking you actually live there!!
It also has the advantage for people who prefer a quieter place to stay, having only 5 rooms for guests.
Breakfast is excellent, with good variety of choices using fresh good quality food, some from local suppliers. 
Gill makes  home made bread and perfect muffins to compliment this very welcome start to a day.
The gardens are to be seen and explored, tiers of well arranged colourful flowers and shrubs with seating areas on all three levels with access by steps and a sloped area for the less active of us! 
We will surely go again and from what I understand this is a regular occurrence from previous visitors… I am not surprised at all!! ….Perfick! 🤗

First class place to stay

Really lovely b&b- friendly owners. Great location to stay if attending a wedding at launcells Barton which is a 5min journey away. The breakfast was delicious - everything was really high quality and really tasty. The only thing to improve would be blackout curtains/blind when it gets light in the morning so if you are a light sleeper take an eye mask!

Lovely place to stay

From the moment you walk into the House you feel welcome and relaxed, Jill and Dick are superb hosts.

The rooms are very clean, well appointed and spacious with good sized en-suites and if you are lucky enough to get a room over looking the garden the view is amazing; the garden is beautiful a real labour of love, take a cup of tea and just sit and take it all in.

This is a great place to base yourself to explore the area but before you go set yourself up for the day with a wonderful breakfast everything from a full Cornish, beautifully poached eggs, delicious kedgeree to homemade bread, muffins and marmalades

A review of Stratton House would not be complete without a mention of Molly and Tilly, the most beautiful cats who love a fuss but it’s all on your terms so if you’re not a cat person you would hardly notice them

A lovely week in Cornwall truly enhanced by staying here!

A wonderfully relaxing stay

A lovely find this place is. Peaceful, clean, spacious room and the garden is 100%!!! If it’s sunny you should sit outside and have a cup of tea. Breakfast is the best bit though! We’ll definitely be back! We had a wedding at Launcells Barton and this place was only a 4 minute drive to the venue. And last but not least: The owners are a gem 🤍

Amazing stay in Stratton!

From the moment we walked in to this lovely old building we were warmly welcomed by Gill  & Dick - a lovely couple who have created one of the nicest Bed & Breakfast places my wife and I have ever stayed at. From the huge room with its enormous King-size bed (so comfy!!!!) to the beautiful furniture and lovely decor to that huge "Full Cornish"  breakfast. Gill is an amazing cook, making her own bread and even the jams and marmalade's - while Dick is a charming, interesting and very funny host who instinctively knows when to chat and when to stay silent. We loved our all too short stay at Stratton Gardens and are already planning our next visit.
