Lovely little B&B, instructions when arrive to collect keys etc simple…..we stayed in Diggery delvet room, it was a little apartment with living area, bedroom and bathroom, lovely little place, hair dryer, towels, shower, board games, tv, Netflix, tea/coffee etc all found in the room. Area was lovely little village type with bars, pubs, restaurants, shops A* +
Short walk to the lake where you can find more restaurants/pubs etc plenty to eat, boat cruise to Ambleside, buses run a lot if you want to go to Ambleside/grassmere or down towards the lake. Plenty of toilet options in Windermere through pubs etc or public for 50p charge. Queyside restaurant was our fave over looking the lake, Debbie made us feel welcome and asked if anything we needed each day we stayed. Quiet area, parking with permit (from B&B) in certain streets was no hassle. Lovely place to stay would definitely recommend 5/5 *****

We stayed at the Cambridge Guest House during a recent (May) weekend getaway to the Lake District. It is perfectly located within Windermere, right in the centre, yet still retaining a feeling of being tucked away. Parking is a short 2 min walk away. The accommodation was beautifully presented, with our room/suite being so much larger than expected. We stayed with George, our dog and the extra thought put in by the owners to provide items for him was genuinely appreciated and a superb idea. 
There is so much to see and do in the area it feels like you are out most of the time, but when you do return to the guest house, it felt very homely and unlike a hotel room. The owners were easy to contact, responding swiftly, and were very friendly and helpful.
We would highly recommend the Cambridge Guest House, and will definitely stay here again.

Very pleasant stay. Room spotless and very practical. Great location and fantastic host who went the extra mile and made sure all was okay. Was nice to have biscuits and other things to eat in the room. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Accommodation is right in the centre of Windermere, but one street away so it’s quiet.

Would highly recommend this beautiful guesthouse in a fantastic location. We went with our dog and found the room to be nice and quiet, clean, and cosy. The location couldn’t of been better. A lovely park just around the corner which was ideal for the dog. Walking distance to the bars and restaurants. Twenty minute walk to lake Windermere or you can get the local 599 bus. We had a lovely boat trip from lake Windermere over to Ambleside. Lots of lovely places nearby.

Lovely little bnb in windemere for a 2 night stay
Room cosy and spotless with nice little touch of fresh milk in fridge. 
We brought our 2 dogs with us and there was a " doggy box " in the room which was another nice surprise. 
I was a bit apprehensive about parking but the permit parking allowed us to park on the next street and we had to no problem getting parked up either day. 

Location is perfect  right on the high street abd for walking into Bowness at night too ( 20min walk ) 

All in all a great stay and very reasonably priced for the lakes ! 

August 14th to 19th a great stay, very comfortable, rooms really fresh & very clean. The owners are very helpful & nothing was a bother for them, ideally situated right in the centre of the shops but still quiet, would highly recommend 

We stayed last weekend, first time visiting the lakes.
Our room was great and everything that we needed, with lots of little extras available, bed was comfy en suite more than suitable. Was nice to have a separate room. Great location and good price.

I had the pleasure of staying at the exquisite Cambridge House guest house in Windermere, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The location is nothing short of perfection, and the charm exuded by the guest house is truly captivating.

Just had a lovely few days at Cambridge Guest House, the room was  more than expected,bright   and airy,with plenty of room for me and my wife, the location was spot on,and parking wasn't a problem,highly recommended.

Beautiful guesthouse

Lovely lakes trip

Myself and my partner have just stayed for a couple of days and what a wonderful stay we had. We arrived earlier and Debbie ensured there was a permit waiting for us to park up and get on with our day before we could check in, which was earlier than expected. We found a parking spot straight away right outside. When we go in there we where surprised to have a suite room so had a living area as well as the bedroom and it was just really quaint and lovely. The room had everything we needed and a lovely little touch with breakfast tray and milk and juice in the fridge. Perfect location. We will definitely be returning

Lovely place to stay

I can't say enough good things about this place (ok, I had one complaint, but we will get to that later).

So first of all, the location literally cannot be beat. It's about a five/ten minute walk from the train station and Orrest Head Viewpoint trail, which gives you incredible views of the mountains and lakes once you're on top. It's right across from a co-op where you can do some shopping, and right in the center of Windermere for shopping/great dining options. But it's also on a quiet and quaint residential street. It's like a two minute walk from a bus station that will take you up to Aira Force and the lakes around there, as well as other buses to places like Bowness-on-Windermere, Grasmere, etc. But if you want to walk, it's practically a straight-shot, very pleasant 30 min walk to Bowness-on-Windermere, another pretty town where you can do more eating/shopping as well as go out on the lake with tours/rowboats, etc. Kind of insane, really, how well located this little guest house is. I was doing this trip to the Lake District without a car, and this guest house made it so easy. 

Next, the owners are so kind and helpful. I guess because of Covid they are still doing everything contactless so I didn't actually get to meet them, but they were very responsive on Whatsapp. I stayed for one night, and they let me check in early as well as keep the room very late into the next day (I had a train back at 7p) to leave my stuff. 

The room itself was very clean, very cute, and very comfortable. I got a whole breakfast tray with some nice tea, pastry, and cereal offerings in the room. If you forgot any essentials/need more toilet roll or something, there is a little bin in the hallway where you can help yourself. It's just all so lovely. The guest house itself is so quaintly decorated and smells quite nice.

My only problem was the shower. This could have just been my room (or user error) and it wasn't a huge problem for me as I only stayed for one night, but it could easily be a bit more of an issue for people who stay longer. It was electric and there were very clear instructions on what dial to turn and to wait for the temp to regulate, however mine would not regulate. I googled help suggestions, then waited for about 20 minutes before giving up and just seeing if I could manage it. The temp would oscillate between scalding hot and ice cold every like 10 seconds, giving me about 3 seconds of useable water temperature per oscillation. I managed and because I was only there for a night and I was quite tired (as well as the nonzero chance it was my own stupidity making the shower do this), I didn't bother messaging the owners about it. 

Conclusion: If you're looking for a nice place in Windermere to stay (with reasonable prices! I got a discounted rate on a two-person room because I was only one person), stay here!!!

Lovely guest house, perfect location

We have just spent a lovely weekend at Cambridge House. What a find! We booked quite late and given that is was Bank Holiday weekend everything went like clockwork. Ideally situated just yards from the centre of Windermere.  Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Very reasonably priced We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it. Thank You so much for a lovely stay .



Great Guest House   perfect location 

What a delightful place to stay. Perfectly located for the centre of Windermere and all of it’s wonderful amenities. 
The property and rooms are very well maintained and that’s clearly down to the fact that the owners are personally involved and take a great pride in providing super service. 
Very well equipped rooms meaning we had a most comfortable stay.

There was good e-mail communication before we arrived and the keys were easy to find. Parking could have been an issue, but the owners husband kindly moved his van to enable us to have a space in the on street parking.

The room was cosy and clean and the breaksfast of cereal and croissant in our room worked well for us. 

Very freindly and comfortable place and I would fully recommend it
