Fantastic
32 reviewsArriving from Hong Kong Jet lagged and not very well, I booked into Huish Moor for a much needed break. I was met with a warm welcome from the proprietors - a lovely hard working - nothing too much trouble- couple. My room with bathroom en suite was comfy, cozy & very clean & complete with cream tea which consisted of homemade scones and jam! The location was scenic with lovely views, peaceful, surrounded by fields & very quite at night so I slept like a log! The garden gorgeous with well kept sweeping lawn, pretty pond & even a flower & vegetable garden. Apparently 57 different bird species been spotted to date - down in the history books if you can spot the 58th! A nice quite comfy lounge to chill in and delicious lovingly cooked breakfasts, all made with produce either grown in their garden or locally sourced from nearby farmers. The proprietors very knowledgeable about local wildlife, history and beautiful walks. They can point you in the direction of a myriad of walks from sandy beaches & rock pools to shady woods to rugged cliffs and even a walk to Dashwood's house from 'Sense and Sensibility' by Jane Austin! There are friendly pubs nearby and fab artsy crafsty shops with local artists selling their colorful wares. A ferry from Instow takes you across to Appledore (Tide dependent!) with Stunning beach side architecture that made me feel as if I had gone back in time! A great place to sit drink in hand and watch the awesome sunsets there. If you are of the more sporty persuasion bring your bike there is safe cycling on the Takka trail. And if you are looking for something 'educational' but fun for the kids 'The Big Sheep' diversified hands on farming! I didn't do the fly fishing experience offered at Huish Moor B&B but having read the hilarious fisherman's log-filled in by all those who have- it looks like a must for next time! Although Huish Moor has easy access and the directions on the website are good- don't rely on sat nav for about the last two miles!! I loved my stay at Huish Moor and felt refreshed, relaxed, well fed, pampered and much better than when I arrived! I will definitely be going again and wont hesitate to recommend.
