This is a beautiful old building which is well kept and nicely decorated! The views are wonderful and surrounded by lovely, well kept gardens. It was a shame that the weather wasn’t good when I went so couldn’t explore the gardens as much as I would have liked. The owners are lovely people who make you very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was very nice and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed. The bathroom was a bit dated but all the bathrooms are being refurbished. Breakfast was good and good service. Plenty to do in the area around the hotel but you do need a car! Would definitely go back.

Beautiful historic hotel in a beautiful location. The interior has been designed wonderfully and the ambience is great. I had a lovely room with a fab balcony, unfortunately I was staying for work but I can’t wait to bring my partner here. Views are some of the best Iv had in the UK. Grounds are beautiful, bed was fantastic, best nights sleep Iv had in years. Great customer service and friendly owners.

We had a lovely 4 day stay with two couples. The hotel and gardens are beautiful. The owners, John and Ilona, are very attentive and friendly, as well as extremely professional. The breakfasts are great as well. A lovely short break in a beautiful place.

The hotel is set in lovely very well maintained gardens overlooking the river.  Rooms a good size, comfortable and spotlessly clean.  The bed was sooo cosy.  They went above and beyond to accommodate our dog and even produced a complimentary small bowl of sausage at breakfast for her, which was a lovely gesture.  John was a very attentive host and nothing was too much trouble.  Well worth a visit.

We recently stayed at The Yeoldon House Hotel in Devon for 4 days to celebrate my birthday. What a fantastic experience. We had the Lady Dawe room with 4 poster bed, what a magnificent room with views overlooking the garden and the river. The room was immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. We arrived back to the hotel on my birthday to find a wonderful card from the staff and a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate with (Thank you all). Although the Yeoland do not do evening meals this was no problem at all with several restaurants close, some within walking distance. The breakfasts were superb the full English all delicious locally sourced products where possible and individually cooked to order and plenty of it enough to see you right up to dinner. If you didn’t fancy dining out, you could pick up something at the local supermarket (10 min drive away) and eat in the magnificent hotel gardens. John and Ilona (the owners) were extremely welcoming and took a genuine interest in your holiday. The wonderfully pleasant lady who severs the breakfast is local and a mine of knowledge about the area. If you want to holiday near Bideford which gives easy access to Appledore, Clovelly and numerous National Trust properties and other wonderful places you must experience The Yeoldon House Hotel HOSPITALITY you will not regret it.

Expected it to be lovely and it most certainly was! The building and its setting are wonderful. Gardens in mid- April were beautiful, a really gorgeous environment with views from my balcony across the gardens to the river. A big tick for the gardeners whose attention to detail was obvious.! The friendly welcome and advice on walks and best local sights, best roads to choose etc all added to the first rate experience. Visiting nearby RHS Rosemoor  Gardens - simply fabulous, and the village of Appledore, as well as walks along the river made for a perfect few days. Hosts and service were exceptional. Thank you - hope to return. 

Great welcome from the owners, nice setting garden was very well looked after. Breakfast was good with a varied selection. The only reason for not getting a perfect review was that our room was not the best, cracked bath panel and bare walls. Value for money, no because of the room situation.

Beautiful hotel, warm & welcoming but professional service. Great breakfast, attention to the details in design inside & outside - I would highly recommended hotel and feel it’s a great value. Don’t waste your time on going anywhere else if you are looking for the Traditional British experience. Enjoy

My brother and I booked a twin room some months before our stay requesting a twin bed room. This was confirmed at the time of booking by the proprietor.
The room we were given was rather small for twin beds as the gap in between was 
minimal. When we arrived the beds were pushed together. It was also very dark with a small side view window,
In order to hang clothes or put them away an armchair needed to be moved.
In order to dry my hair I had to turn the armchair around to face the mirror. It's heavy.
A very good selection of teas and biscuits on the hospitality tray. Lovely and clean bedroom and bathroom. Gorgeous fluffy towels too.
The breakfast was okay. The bacon a little tough as thick cut. On a personal level, I don't like herbs to dominate so do we really need dried Rosemary on mushrooms? The fresh herbs in the scrambled eggs complimented well though
Plenty of cereal choices, Jams, fresh fruits and moist prunes and apricots.
The fresh orange juice wasn't to my liking. It could have been long life.
We had to chase up our non dairy milk request. 
We found the service at breakfast good although slightly unfriendly. 
Would we stay at the Yeoldon again? Sadly not as pricey for a small dark room with limited facilities.
Judging by the other reviews they must have had better rooms etc.

Lovely Hotel in fabulous location.

We stayed at the Yeoldon for 1 night . We were slightly disappointed with our room. My husband is 6ft 2 and the bed was no were near big enough for the both of us. This ment we had an uncomfortable night sleep. The rooms were very clean and tidy and hospitality was lovely. No baked beans at breakfast because thats not an English breakfast. 😭 would stay again but would need a bigger bed.
