The last time I visitied this building, it was purely a Music School! That was many years ago! On this visit, I was accompanied by two dozen friends, members of Hitchin 41 Club and their wives.
On arrival, we were geeted warmly by members of the staff and throughout the evening, we enjoyed music from a pianist.
The food - pre-ordered - was excellent, and the service from the young staff, was exceptional - attentive without being intrusive.
Drinks were reasonably priced, and overall value for money was very good indeed.

An Excellent Christmas Meal

This is the second year that we have been 16 of us this year. Pre order food which is delicious. Home cooked traditional fayre. A pianist plays lovely Christmas music while our meal is eaten and the benslow choir?  Sang after we had eaten. This is a lovely hidden place off the beaten track and definitely worth a visit 

Christmas meal with work colleagues 

A very nice place to stay, not exactly luxurious, but a great atmosphere with all the people on Music courses, very good breakfast. It reminded us of a boarding school or student Halls of residence.  We would have liked to been able to get a drink at the bar but it is for Musical residents only!  A strange rule which could be amended.  The gardens are stunning.  Very good value for money.

Fantastic service, tasty food and perfect pre Christmas ambiance. Can’t wait to visit again, will not be waiting until next Christmas either 

Christmas meal 

Just returned from a truly lovely evening at Benslow. Our first visit as diners and concert goers. We were extremely happy from start to finish. Welcoming and courteous staff, a really gorgeous meal with pudd, cheese, wine and coffee all for only £20 a head. The soprano and pianist performing in the concert were splendid. 

This place could be so popular to come and eat and enjoy the atmosphere. The gardens are a delight! 

Please do more dining opportunities- with or without a concert. 

We will definitely be back!

Superb concert and dinner - why don’t more people know about this absolute gem?

Great course facilitated by Joy Ellis and Adam Osmianski, who both threw a lot of energy and pieces into the sessions. This was an accessible course for all standards and Joy explained away some of the mysteries that surrounds Jazz jargon. Totally recommend this course and as always the staff at Benslow provide a top service in catering and housekeeping. Thanks to all involved in setting this up.

Jazz fest course

I was on nights in Letchworth, I found the staff very warm and welcoming, no TV in room but I have my laptop to catch up with TV if I need.
Room was lovely in the roof with a Velux window a litttle hich for me to see out, I never go for sea views anyway. 
Comfy bed, quiet and slept OK.
It's a Music place (in the name) Classical and a bit of Jazz, you can hear music from guests practicing in their rooms, so if don't mind Violins playing or other strings you'll enjoy the stay.
I'm booking in for next visit and will be probably staying for a couple of months,
A wonderful find, Breakfast very nice but if you have to go early, 8am breakfast starts.
I will be staying here again when I finish especially if I'm flying from Luton.
Not too far from the train station or London.
Gardens are Victorian grown, plants I have never seen before, even bamboo growing.

Benslow Music, B&B

Very basic . Not very welcoming. Needs a paint up and a bit of modernisation. Don’t expect to be staying in the lovely house . We got a block down the road . We booked the Deluxe room for me night and the room had been battered . Bathroom was manky and stained . More like student digs .

Basic and not in the main house

On the exterior this hotel looks good. But once you have seen the rooms you realize how poor it is. The bathrooms are communal, there wasn’t even a shower on my floor! The rooms were decorated in the 50’s and that’s how they have stayed. There are no tv’s, which I could live with by using my laptop, but the WiFi is so hit and miss it’s unusable.
I was put in a room next to the boiler, which never turned off! It was loud and extremely hot. 
My room had slopped ceilings on both sides, meaning I can only stand up straight in the center of the room. 

I imagine the music parts to this hotel are great, but as a trades man forced to work away this place is below standard. They should not be advertising this as a hotel for all, it only has one focus, musicians.
