We have been coming here off and on for several times per year and for more years than can remember. It serves our purposes well for both visiting family and also for yearly RunNorwich event in September. Always lovely staff who are very helpful. Matt the manager is a lovely guy too and runs the place very well. Great food and a fabulous breakfast is in with the stay. I find I eat far too much at breakfast as it is so scrummy. Still this week that’s offset as it’s part of London marathon preparation and I need to “fuel up”, that’s my excuse anyway.

An old but well kept hotel, very unique and lovely! The room was tiny, but it had everything we needed. The location is nice right in center of an very old town. The breakfast was included in the price and it was absolutely amazing! The proportions were huge and so good, we could come back to this hotel only for the breakfast!

We had a fantastic time here, although not the most modern of hotels the atmosphere and friendliness of staff more than made up for it. Food was outstanding as was service - a great stay!

We came from the Midlands to attend the funeral of an old friend and colleague. The hotel was really convenient for the Church service and we found out that the family had in fact chosen it for the after funeral venue.Our stay was very comfortable. The staff were very attentive and helpful and the food was superb. Choices were very difficult to make for dinner because they were so varied and when served they certainly did not disappoint. The breakfast next morning was equally superb. What a pity we live so far away.!!!

Wonderful place, very comfortable, fantastic food.

The atmosphere of this place is great, we visited on Saturday night and the pub was very busy, i can see why! Excellent food, staff were rushed off their feet but were so attentive, really friendly place and an absolute gem. The staff really make this place what it is, we will definitely be returning.

The staff, food and accommodation far exceeded my expectations.I would definitely return, everything was excellent.

Lovely old hotel with an amazing breakfast

I really like this hotel. Its in a great location in the middle of Aylsham which is a lovely little place. The hotel is a vibey pub with decent rooms. The rooms are comfortable and clean and all different. Which makes a change to premier inns etc.The staff are always pleasant and the whole place seems easy and stress free. Ive stayed a couple of times now and will stay again.

The food is superb at this hotel. Didn’t sleep the first night of our stay due to the bed being on a slope ( old building with uneven floor) but quickly got moved to another room which was very much appreciated, we enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was delicious, staff were all lovely. I will visit again.

It was a bit confusing when we arrived as there was no actual reception or signs telling you what was expected regarding check in process- maybe a note in the confirmation email would help? Room 105 - adjoins quite a busy road so we heard the traffic easily through the single glazed windows- not much you can do with this I guess as the building is listed. Food- lovely dinner and brekky - 10/10. No issues with the staff - they were flat out for both services so had little time to talk to us.

Lovely hotel and friendly attentive staff, good choice of excellent food.Just a couple of things that stuck out, the stairs in the main bar which is open, but not accessible to the public, seems to be used for storage which at first glance unsightly which seems to spoil a really lovely old bar, in the hotel stairway there is a disused stairway which is blocked off  which has a door but the stairway is used for storage of cleaning materials the door was left open again unsightly.  The nice to have in the room that I stayed in was a plug that was accessible without having to crawl under the desk/table to plug phones laptops etc.

Never disappointed when we stay.This is our fourth stay and have had a different room each time and apart from the layout being different it has always been the same excellent quality.And the excellence doesn’t stop at the room, it continues on to the food.  Both the evening meal and breakfast were as good as we remembered.  The quality is excellent which is probably down to the local suppliers and the chefs should be congratulated on their cooking of the meals.I would recommend a stay here so much that my wife wants to return the birthday favour by booking another night for my birthday.

Rooms a little tired and location a bit noisy due to traffic noise and bar guest noise.  Car parking limited.On a positive Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful.  Great food served here and breakfast was perfect.. Very clean with comfortable bed and a good selection of complementary teas and coffee.
